Anyways, John Hopoate got 17 weeks suspension, and was then sacked by Manly, effectively ending his NRL career. I think he deserved it, and with 45 games of suspension in total, he is now Rugby Leagues most suspended player.

Ha. Good ol' Hoppa keeping the Knights dismal performances out of the NRL headlines.

 

I think it was a deserving punishment. He absolutely smashed that Sharks player.

Yes, Hoppa got sacked by Manly but the NRL only suspended him for 17 weeks as opposed to Danny Williams who got 18 weeks. I read in the paper today that Hoppa doesn't want to play for any other team including the Pommy Super League so he's gone for good.

I don't think that even super desparate Pommy teams would take a guy with Hoppa's reputation. He had his chances. He deserves to be gone.

 

On a sort of side note, is Danny Williams playing in England? Or did he retire like Hoppa did?

I believe he is now playing in england. He would still be about 9 weeks away from playing again if he stayed with Melbourne.

I'm lucky there's an NRL match tomorrow, as I've had no time to get my reviews done this weekend. So yeah, they'll be in tomorrow arvo with any luck.

 

I can't believe Manly are on top of the table. Hard luck for the Storm. I'm still not convinced that Manly are a serious premiership contender. And I'm counting my lucky stars that the only other 2 teams without a win - apart from the Knigts - played off today, making it inevitable that the Knights would be no longer in last position. I doubt it'll be long until they reclaim that position, though.

I got more right when I didn't enter any picks than I did when I made my own selections. I got a total of 1 right last week, and roughly half this week. I haven't checked yet, but I'm sure I'll have lost ground since last week. (Approx. 40,000th place out of 50,000)

Oh boy am I going to miss Foxtel. The place I stayed over easter had it, and all I did was watch cricket and rugby, league and union. It was the best.

 

I saw one of the most amazing hundreds I have ever seen, from Ponting, the character of Stephen Fleming getting 65 off about 1000 balls. It was well played innings though.

 

Australia went on to get 383, and NZ are 1/5 after 1.4 (rain delay). -MDG

I'm having to cut down on the size of them, as I'm finding I'm having less and less time available on weekends to get them done.

 

I think I had my best week tipping this week. Which is quite sad, as I got about half right.

Another match won by the Aussies in 4 days. McGrath is left sitting on 499 wickets until the Ashes. Ponting and Langer smashed the Kiwi bowlers all over the place today, great stuff. 2-0 series win and would be 3-0 if the rain stopped playing for the sheep shaggers. It's great to be an Aussie.

Speaking of batting for a draw, Virender Sehwag is kicking up a media storm in the Curry Munchers Derby (Pakis vs India) series. He has crticised his fellow batsmen for batting for a draw, and feeling as though he was the only one batting for a win.

Another thing, I have been reading some incredible Glenn McGrath stats, like the fact that he dismissed Stephen Fleming 6 of 8 times in the whole year when Fleming versed any team all season, from Novemeber to Now.

 

He aso has some other incredible stats like that, with a lot of batsmen with a high percentage of outs when he was bowling, on tours. He has dismissed the captain 11.5% of the time in his career, meaning 57 times he has done so. 30% of his wickets are left handers, the best % in the world.

Sucks that the Swans lost to the Kangaroos this afternoon. Chalkstar, you have some editing to do.

 

I tipped Panthers last night so I'm off to another great start this weekend. The TV guide says the Storm v Broncos match is on Channel 9 tonight with a 2 hour delay so I hope it's right because I'd like to see this match.
