Well yeah, Australia is too good. But it isnt their fault. In 10 or so years if we are still in the position we are now, we'll know it is just a damn joke.

Let's look at this: Who that is playing now will be here for the 2007 World Cup?

- McGarth stated recently that it was his goal.

- It was stated months ago that Gilly wont make it

- Brett Lee will be in his 30s.

- Haydos and Langer... nup

- Poontang will be 33/34

- Tait should be playing by then. With Clarkey

Anything else?

Well, you never know. Oz has an extreme overload of talented players in state cricket, who, if they played in any other country they would be playing internationally.

I think we'll be right for years to come. -MDG

Well look at all the Australians that are over 30 or are knocking on the doors of 30.

Damn, even Brett Lee is 27/28?

It is true that a lot of our current players are in their 30's but we have an abundance of quality state cricketers just waiting for a chance at the top level. I don't know of any country with the depth of talented young cricketers that Australia has right now.

We are just too damn good. We have the 1st (warne) and the 4th(not 100% sure)(McGrath) highest wicket takers of all time in our current side. biggrin.gif

Well if you were to pick an international team from the pura cup playing sides, who would you have and how do youi think they'll go?

I was talking to Wolfwood (british) on MSN and accoring to the pom tabloids, they think they are top sh*t. Just wait until the Ashes so we can put them in their place.

Also, McGarth is now the highest ranked bowler in the world. First time in 2 years.

Pfft. THe poms are better than they have been, but I don't think they'll beat us. Their Middle Order could use a touch up I think.

Anyways, on the pura cup thing. I'm not sure who I would choose, but I'm sure they could give any international team a run for their money. -MDG

oh, when's the ashes?

We'll kick their asses. biggrin.gif Seriously though, if the poms are doing well, then it should be a good contest. smile.gif

Well this domestic comp thingo got me thinking...

You would need some good bowling... Tait... cant go past that. Griffith/en (sp?) Spin of White or Doherty.

Batting... Love/Maher from the Bulls. Jacques from NSW... Nobody from SA tounge.gif Hodge from VIC, one of the tassie openers

Allrounders... cant go past Hogg or Thornley.

Also, the next ashes series is next summer. We'll spank them.

Yeah, I was thinking about Hoggy, Thronely and Tait, and I agree with you there.

Blewett is another one I would throw in, as he has played for Australia before.

It is a toss up between Haddin and Campbell for W/K. I would go Campbell. Just more athletic and quicker scorer. -MDG

I think Blewett is past his prime and is best left in the Pura Cup. I must also disagree about your choice of wicketkeeper because I believe Haddin is a good batsman and he certainly knows how to score quickly. Campbell IMO is a bit too risky but that could just be my biased NSW side speaking. tounge.gif

Haddin is captain of Australia A, bear in mind. wink.gif

Tait is also opening bowler for the A's.

Ah, yes, can't rule out that.

Well, BOxing Day test, and Langer has to prove himself fit this morning so he can play. He only needs to hit 78 runs for most ever in a calendar year, so it wuld be a shame to see him miss out, but if he does miss out, Katich gets to play. -MDG

Langer obviously proved himself fit because he was fielding in the slips when I was watching earlier. The Pakis are 1/93 at lunch and have looked pretty good so far.

Two quick wickets lost after lunch have left them at 3/about 135. Our slips aren' playing too well, but it's good to see Langer playing. 78 runs to become the best run scorer over a calendar year. -MDG

Pakis did a pretty good job today and finished with 6/318. Youhana got a century and was having fun hitting the spinners for six but Warne finally got him with Gilly's help. I think they're doing better without Inzaman Ulfatass.

Yeah, they were saying last test that without Inzy on the field and I think it was Youhana leadng them they were a lot more energetic.

Anyways, I am going away for a week, so this is my last post in here until then.

See you all then. -MDG

Pakis all out for 341 and at the end of day 2 Aussies have stumbled along to 5/203. It was good to see Warnie get a couple of wickets this morning after all the overs he bowled yesterday. Now it's up to Martyn and Gilly to get us past the Paki total.

All hail Dizzy. biggrin.gif

I believe that was his second 50 straight. He must be staking a claim for Australia's next all-rounder. Anyway, it's good to see Martyn get a good score or two recently. And our bowling attack this arvo was awesome. Pakistan 5/85 at stumps.

Sorry I haven't been posting in here too much lately, I had a bit of sh*t going on with life. But it's all good now. I'm back.

Great to have you back, Fuzzy. It was certainly a good day for the Aussies. Gillespie didn't score his runs quickly but that six he hit was pretty impressive. I expect we should have the match wrapped up by the end of tomorrow if things continue like this afternoon.

Yeah, we wrapped it up this arvo. Quite strange, considering the game was looking very close on the second day. But the Pakistanis collapsed in their second innings. End result - Australia cruise home to win by 9 wickets. Nice to see Hayden make a good score, he's been going pretty poorly recently.

I was happy to see Hayden get some runs for a change. Ponting has had a tough year with the batting compared to his amazing run last year. Langer missed out on scoring most runs ever in a calendar year by an Aussie.

Well here we are. Another day where cricket is scheduled and there is no play... because Australia is so damn good.

Now I propose a debate. Because England really isnt as great as they think they are.

Let's sum up the situation here. We have England... self proposed greatest side in internetional cricket... but who have they played against recently? Bangladesh... Windies... South Africa. Hawhawahw. That is in tests where all those sides are sh*tz.

Now in one dayers, they steamrolled India. The same India that lost to Bangladesh and has only won 3 one dayers all calendar year.

Now let's turn to the game in progress where there was that remarkable opening partnership with Strauss and Trescothick. Sure, it is great... but both batsmen scored the runs so incredibly slow it was sleep inducing. Both had strike rates of barely 50. And bear in mind they scored 130 odd in the first innings... and this is against South Africa, the biggest bomb in the last 10 years of cricket.

So before the poms go shouting to the rooftops about their success, bear in mind that Australia has just completed it's fifth straight series win, has 2 of the top 4 leading overall wicket takers still in it starting lineup, recently won by the second largest margin in history, has been ranked first in test cricket for the past 4 years straight and deserves that title... but also is consistant.

Anyone care to disagree?

I agree with all of those statements because it's true. England may have won a lot of Tests this year but it wasn't against the same level of opposition as Australia has faced. The Poms will get a wake up call when they play us next year in the Ashes series.

Australia regularly score their runs at around 4 an over while many sides struggle to get even 3 an over. Australia manage to achieve this rapid scoring rate and still walk all over the opposition despite the increased risks faced when batting with more flair.

New Zealand thought they were good enough to knock us off the top spot so that they would be the team to face the rest of the world next year but the best they achieved was one tight victory in the one dayers. They went home with their tails between their legs, silly old sheep shaggers. tounge2.gif

England batted for 2 full days in their second innings to get 570. That is a little over 3 an over, with 540 balls faced a day. Shocking. They'll need to improve that to have any hope agianst the Australians.

Well I am going though Baggygreen getting all the news I crave. From what I see some county clubs want Brett Lee and the Poms drew with SA... due to bad light.

Serves both of them right. Both captains on both teams dont put theri teams first. For all teams playing internetional cricket, winning should be the highest priority, not batting for two days straight to post a huge, unnecessary total. Vaughn doesnt know when to declare and Grame Smith is content to stay in as long as he gets a double century, regardless if that means his team has to settle for a draw.

Hmyaw.

Anyways, here's the Brett Lee thingamabob:

Four English counties have apparently expressed interest in Brett Lee for next season, a stint that sould come in handy for him ahead of the much-hyped Ashes campaign. Lee has had to carry the drinks for much of this Australian Test season, and with Michael Kasprowicz pulling off matchwinning efforts, the trend doesn't look like ending soon.

Worcestershire, Surrey, Leicestershire and Middlesex are believed to have shown an interest in Lee, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. Lee, who has been the 12th man for eight Tests running, has also missed out on some domestic cricket while carrying out his 12th-man duties.

"Playing county cricket is something we've explored, and we've had a chat to the selectors about it," said Neil Maxwell, Lee's manager. "The advice has been not to rush into anything ... Brett went through a flat period after missing out in Perth . . . but he's bounced back. I'm confident that ... Cricket Australia will change the 12th-man rule to allow flexibility."

The English county season begins on April 13, while Australia kick off their campaign with a tour game against Leicestershire on June 11.

Neither the Poms or SA deserved to win after such a boring contest. Australia have shown that you need to put the team's interests ahead of individuals if you want to win matches.

I don't think that a stint in county cricket would do Lee any harm and would probably increase his chances of being selected for the Ashes.

Purple Fwuffeh Teddeh

Howdy.

Aye, Brett Lee bowling the shiz out of those immaculate British wickets wont be a bad thing, because it means we'll just humiliate the limeys by that much more.

I can hardly wait for us to put them in their place. Cut them down. And then let the tabloids take care of them tounge.gif

Well for once you dont sound like you are talking out your ass, PFT.

The cricket just started in the New Years Test at the SCG. Gillespo beat the outside edge twice and then had two dropped catches.
