Good news people, Australia beat New Zealand 32-12. Let's hope we do the same against the Poms next week.

Australia 32 New Zealand 12

AUSTRALIA secured a vital victory over New Zealand in their Tri Nations game in London today, but suffered a potentially costly blow with an injury to skipper Darren Lockyer.

Man-of-the-match Lockyer, who scored a crucial try to give Australia the advantage after the New Zealanders had led 12-8 at halftime, left the field midway through the second half with a suspected re-occurrence of a rib injury.

In front of a near-capacity crowd at a drenched Loftus Road, the depleted Kiwis had taken a surprise third-minute lead with a try through their Cairns-born fullback Brent Webb.

But Webb's conversion attempt hit the post and crucially he failed to add to either of their other two first-half tries.

Australia briefly led when winger Luke Rooney scored from a penalty and Craig Fitzgibbon converted, then added a penalty for a high shot.

But the resilient New Zealanders levelled at 8-8 on the half-hour with a try from Lesley Vainikolo, and they were ahead 12-8 at the break when Vinnie Anderson scored from Logan Swann's inside ball.

The Kangaroos nosed back in front just a minute into the second half when Lockyer shot through the line and Fitzgibbon again converted, and they definitely held the upper hand when Willie Tonga crashed on to Lockyer's delayed pass after 56 minutes.

Shaun Berrigan then touched down Craig Gower's sliding kick and replacement Petero Civoniceva scored the final try when he too grounded a Gower grubber.

The Roos back up next weekend against Great Britain at the City of Manchester stadium.

Yep, sounds like that was a good game. Geez, there was a fair few crashes at the Indy 300 today, some guy went to hospital. Jason Bright smashed into the concrete wall, causing an estimated $100,000 damage, and there were some other big crashes in the Indy.

Yeah, I had to stay up and watch the Cricket World Cup Final. It was worth it. The only reason I would stay up was if it was the deciding test.

Oh yeah, I read your code in that topic, we didn't really need a bump. But it's still all good that I know people are still posting here. -MDG

I stayed up and watched the Cricket World Cup Final as well. Definitely worth losing a few hours of sleep. I enjoyed watching the V8's more than the Indy cars and great to see Greg Murphy win the 2nd race although Ambrose finished 2nd which means he will more than likely win the title again unfortunately.

Yeah, it's a shame what Rick Kelly did, knocking brighty out of contention to win the thing. Should be an exciting last couple of rounds, as Murph and Ambrose slug it out to win the championship.

As Storm has seen, my MSN name is this: Clementine - I Love The Indy 300, You Get To See People You Have Never Heard Of Crash Into Bundles Of Tyres.

It's true, mainly refering that guy that went to hospital.

The Cricket World Cup was very good, the two highlights being a good innings from Ricky Ponting and Lehmann taking the winning catch for the second time in as many world cup finals.

I think Ambrose will either have to get a bad qualifying spot, or crash early in the race, to give Murph any chance of taking the lead.

DId anyone see Shumachers F1 crash on the news? sh*t it was bad. -MDG

I'll let MDG fill us in on the cricket scores, I have too many windows open right now. I saw Shumacher's F1 crash in qualifying and it looked pretty bad. He then slid around during the race and finished 7th. I hope that Scott Hill gets to replace Lockyer in the five eighth position for the Kangaroos.

Shutup you bloody storm fan. j/k.

He will get it I reckon.

Schumacher just lost it around the bend. Don't know how, maybe went too far up the rumble strip.

Atleast Barrichello shined in Qualifying at home. Who won?

At the end of day 1, Australia 7/362 after 90 overs. (Martyn 114, Lehmann 70, Clarke 73*, Langer 44.) Martyn is batting well. -MDG

You Lie.

Good to see Barrichello get some points at home, he has never finished there in 9 years.

@ Jayza: I already posted it.

We got all out for 398 (Clarke 91, Martyn 114, Lehmann 70.)

Mcgrath was scoring at just under a strike rate of 100, he ended up with 11.

India in trouble at 4/79 with about 40 overs to go. -MDG

Warney got a wicket with his 2nd delivery. VVS Bignose.

For some odd reason, I love the way you can rip off indians 2 times in as many sentences.

4/ 100 after 48 overs with Dravid scoring at about 1 run per million balls. He's on a strike rate of 16.

27 overs to go.

Heh, I love it when Jay gives the Indians some curry. India are now 5/146 at stumps on day 2 so quite a good day for the Aussies.

I hope that Kimmorley doesn't force Hill out of the rugby league team because I haven't liked him since he left the Storm for more money.

Kimmorley is overrated to the max. End of story.

It's lunch on day three, Currymunchers all out 185, Gillespie got 5 wickets. Australia 0/19 with 64 overs left on day 3, and we lead by 232 runs. If our openers can put something together and Martyn an Clarke score some runs, we canstart to pack up. -MDG

Australia are now 3/202 at stumps on day 3 with a massive lead of 415 runs so we should have plenty of time to bowl out the Currymunchers. It's a shame that Katich got out on 99, he has regularly scored runs but seems to always get out just when he looks like getting a century.

Hooray, we won, by about 300 runs, after an awesome bowling performance and some good batting.

Our first series win in 35 years in India. Shame what happened to Katich, it's always heartbraking to get out close to a hundered, better luck next time. -MDG

Even worse when it's LBW. There's always a chance the umpire got it wrong.

Anyway, the Rugby Leage test is on tonight. Actually it's tomorrow morning. Anyone waking up early to watch it?

I was very happy when I found out on Sports Tonight that we won. Pretty cool considering that our captain hasn't even played in the first 3 tests. I reckon that Gilly has done a great job filling in for Ponting.

In rugby league Scott Hill will be on the bench with Craig Gower playing five eighth because of fucking Kimmorley.

@Timbli: AFL season finished a while ago.

We played very well, and deserve that victory. I still think Gilly has too much on his plate.

Well, we won the footy, Kimmorley shouldn't even be near England, he is sh*t.

Anyways, just got home from rep, this is how I went for the weekend.

Juniors: Batting - 6, Bowling - 0/5 off 3. Bowled out for 64, they hit the runs, going for outright, currently 1/87.

Seniors: Batting (opener.....don't ask) - 5, and a huge bruise on my leg. Did not bowl. All out 83 after 32 overs (35 over match), other team hit runs in 33 overs.

Rep: Did not bat. Took a catch, dropped a hard one, fielded well. Bowling - 1/5 off 1 over, last wicket of game. We batted first, ended up 8/167 off 50 overs. Bowled out other team for 55 after 20 overs. -MDG

Aussies beat the Poms 12-8, surely we have a better replacement goal kicker than Kimmorley. For the full report check this out.

@MDG: So bit of a mixed bag of results for you in the cricket then. I must ask, what was the captain thinking when he put you in as opener?

20th page milestone.

Seems like we had a close shave in that test. -MDG

Maybe your captain had a few drinks the night before and forgot how bad you are at batting. tounge.gif I see the Indian selectors aren't happy with their team's performances and have made a few changes.

I hope that Wayne Bennett gives Scott Hill a go at the five eighth position and drops Noddy to no man's land.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised, my whole team is the sort of people who would sit in the pub all morning, go to cricket, and go back for the night.

I hope Noddy gets the kick, he is not a good enough standard for that job. Even Brent Sherwin and Brett Finch should've taken that spot, not Nodd.

India can't be happy, both times they had someone hit 50, and that was down the order, all I see in he scorecard for the second innings is one digit and the odd double digit number. -MDG

What about Matty Orford? He is better than Noddy, Sherwin and Finch plus would have been in the third State of Origin instead of Finch if he hadn't been injured. I reckon that over the season he was a better player for the Storm than Hill and we all know what a class player he is.

Yeah, he has been at his best this year.

THey are all great Halves, except for Noddy. Almost all of today's halves could make the Aussie side. Berrigan, Gower, Orford, Head, Johns, Hannay, SHerwin, Finch.

Looks like it will be an interesting last test, Australia looking to experiment and India looking to put together a winning side.

I did a sweep at school, and didn't get any winners. Musta been a good race. The only thing I don't like about it is it is this huge thing that gets hyped about, and then lasts 5 minutes. I mean, in a Footy Grand Final it lasts 80 minutes, so there is room for error by both teams, but in this, one mistake can be the difference between winning and losing.

I THINK the next test starts tommorow.

Makybe Diva is the first Mare in history to win two Melbourne Cups in a row. Pretty incredible. Half the time you don't even see winners go in 2 Cups in a row. -MDG

Bah, it doesn't matter. It's only 50 bucks, some people would've had millions riding on that race.

Anyways, the first day has been washed out so far. Warney has been ruled out with a broken thumb from practice, so Hauritz is in his spot. -MDG
