Warney's good, but not THAT good. The Indians have a great batting attack, and I think it was right there for the taking.

He was better when he was on drugs. wink.gif

I reckon the Aussies had a slightly better chance of winning, as they do have an awesome bowling attack, and that India looked like they were going to start taking their chances to win the match. But of course, that's a completely biased comment. tounge.gif

Yeah, but I suppose Dravid told them to go out, and have a go and get a few runs in the last few overs, because they were only out there for 4 or 5. They were probably lucky the Aussie bowling attack was taking it easy a bit, because they would've had more chance then, to take some wickets, but none of it matters now, sadly, because the game is gooonnne. -MDG

I think India were in a good position to win the match. Our bowlers didn't seem to make a big impact on their batsmen like they did in the first Test.

The second rugby leauge Tri-Nations match is being played Sunday morning AEST and won't be shown until 5am. I certainly won't be getting up early to watch the match.

Well, I don't have rep this sunday so I don't need to be up that early, so I won't find out the result unless I am up for some reason and switch to it.

Well, I guess that draw has thrown the series wide open, and make it that winner takes all in ther next test, if Australia wins it. Should make for an exciting rest of the series. -MDG

@ CIndy: What's NPC? Anyways, I played a bit of my rep game in the rain yesterday. Wasn't very slippery though. Sounds like it was at Christchurch though.

NPC is National Provincial Championships. Like, out regional Rugby union. Yeah, the game was funny. Better watching it at home than sitting in the stands I hear.

(It rained a lot. Daniel Carter (new zealand's sexiest man) was all wet. biggrin.gif)

Well that's nothing new, whenever I watch sports on TV being played in New Zealand there always seems to be rain.

Ah, sort of like our ING Cup I suppose.

Anyways, I forgot to ever tell you how I went last weekend.

Juniors: Bowled for 50 overs, Other team 7/229 after 50 overs. We will come back and play next weekend and bat our 50 overs. Me: 1/32 off 6 overs (sh*thouse).

Seniors: Made 9/110 off our 35 overs, bowled out other team for 89. Me: 2 batting runs, though I got a few credentials on how I batted. One catch, didn't bowl.

Rep: Bowled all out for 59 after 25 overs. I didn't bat, we had 12 men. Other team got the runs after 28 overs. Ended up 4/60. Me: Didn't bat, bowling: 0/5 off 2 overs. -MDG

Didn't have to point that out to us. tounge.gif

But well done anyway, I reckon you did OK overall.

Thanks mate. I am normally a really good bowler, but still first game back, but can't really have too many excuses though.

At this point it looks like Juniors and Seniors is off for me, its been pouring all week.

I can't exactly say I am a good batter. The reason I say I got some credentials for how I batted in seniors is because there was a guy at the other end on 48, and I had to keep on rolling over the strike for him, or just hitting a run and letting him have strike for the rest of the over, and then pushing a single to get him back on strike.

Time to get ready for the third test, where if Australia wins they can get their first series victory in India in 35 years. -MDG

I can't believe it's been that long. Shows how much I know about cricket history. wow.gif I guess there would have been a lot of drawn matches or something.

So basically you're an allrounder who can score a few runs and get a couple of wickets when required. As one cricket commentator would say, you're a bits and parts player or something along those lines.

It sure has been a while since we won over in India, they always seem to lift for the occasion but have troubles winning outside their own country.

Yeah, that is probably because they have on of the most passionate fan bases in the world, so it means a helluva lot more to win in front of a home crowd.

All rounder? Hell no, I am a sort of sh*t batsman, but I have been working on it in the offseason, an I went ok in my first knock, so hopefully that wil lead to bigger things. -MDG

So you're a bowler trying to improve your batting average like Glen McGrath? If you bat anything like he does then you'll need all the luck in the world and then some. tounge.gif

No, not particularly.

I have made a point to many before myself, that if a tailender lke him played at club seniors level, they would be a very good batsman, because look at some of the bowling talent they face in their level. So I think you may be wrong.

No, I suppose I am not trying to make my average higher, just stay out there and rotate the strike, like I did in seniors last weekend. -MDG

Lol, and that is in how mnay games?

Well, there has been 2 swings in the weather, because all week it poured rain, and even though it was a beautiflu day yesterday, it stormed yesterday arvo, which I thought lost any chance of playing, but today when I got up at 6:15, it was beautiful weather, and we might still be playing.

Damn, thats a helluva sentence. -MDG

That sentence had 8 commas in it. I don't think your English teacher would be happy.

Well, Indy fever has hit the Gold Coast and it's a hot sunny day here. Great to see Skaife get pole position in his old Holden (nicknamed the Golden Child) to show Ambrose who should be leading the series.

Yeah, I realised when I posted it, but meh, you get that.

Cricket got called off, too wet. Seniors was still on, but we won on forfeit. So thats sorta good.

Mark Skaife got pole, really? Damn he has been out of form lately, hope he goes well, he is my favourite driver. Are you going Greg? -MDG

@MDG: About 8 or 10.

We played 50 overs this morning. Bowled them out for 40-odd in 18 and then batted out the whole day. I was put in at 8 and Currently 3* off about 4 overs tounge.gif

PUMP IT OUT!

@MDG: I won't be going because I didn't win tickets and I can't be bothered spending the money. Skaife is my favourite driver as well.

@Jay: So why are you online if you're still playing cricket or is today's play finished already and you go back again tomorrow? In any case, your strike rate isn't real good although you are a tailender.

To me, unless its the big time, strike rate don't mean sh*t. Especially batting down the order, when I hit 2 last week I was out there for about 5 overs, but I was giving the other guy the strike so he could get 50.

I'm watching the ING Cup. SA needs 180 runs to win off about 25 overs, I don't think they'll get it. -MDG

@Storm: I'm not a tailender. The captain went to the Jet concert last night and wasnt feeling too spritely. I'll be first drop next innings. I was put in there because the opening bowlers were coming back on.

What's your highest score.

There is one kid in our team that was always good, and hit 50, and ever since, he has been sh*thouse.

How did he know that the openers were coming back on? -MDG

Skaife had more bad luck and finished way down in the placings so Ambrose went on to win yet again. videopoker_yawn.gif There was a good race for 3rd place between Todd Kelly and Craig Lowndes with Kelly finishing in front.

Bad luck for Skaife, it was his first good qualifying lap in about a year.

Well, Indy starts tommorow, should be good. Did anyone see the incredible fight for the Moto GP championship on the last lap? It was awesome.

Australia v New Zealand starts at 3.15AM AEST, I will look at the scores tommorow morning. -MDG

Hey man, welcome to the topic.

I would just advise you to be adding something to the topic as you go, so that conversation keeps on rolling, thats all, but thanks anyways.

To keep us rolling, I will repost what I said in my last post, so that people stay with the convo.

I thought Valentino Rossi already won the championship at Philip Island last week or did you only just see the race today? He is a great rider and proves all the doubters wrong who said it was the Honda bike he rode which helped him win previously.

Hopefully the Aussies can take care of the Kiwis tomorrow morning. I don't get up until around 9am on Sundays so there's no way I'll be getting up early to watch the match.

Well. If they can't, I'll definitely be making a further gloating appearance in here.

If the unthinkable (while likely) aussie destruction of our crap ass team should occur,

I'll probably be blaming someone else. I'm sure as hell not getting up at (converts to nz time) 5am to watch a whole load of pain. Someone else will tell me if (god forbid) we win. Oh. Yeh. Canterbury won teh NPC. Yay. biggrin.gif

No, I saw the last lap as it happened, and it was incredible. If he won, he sealed the championship.

I think that New Zealand could be a force in a few years, with a few up and coming players.

Righto, unless someone else posts here, this'll be my last post tonight, I'll see you all tommorow. -MDG

Good news people, Australia beat New Zealand 32-12. Let's hope we do the same against the Poms next week.

Australia 32 New Zealand 12

AUSTRALIA secured a vital victory over New Zealand in their Tri Nations game in London today, but suffered a potentially costly blow with an injury to skipper Darren Lockyer.

Man-of-the-match Lockyer, who scored a crucial try to give Australia the advantage after the New Zealanders had led 12-8 at halftime, left the field midway through the second half with a suspected re-occurrence of a rib injury.

In front of a near-capacity crowd at a drenched Loftus Road, the depleted Kiwis had taken a surprise third-minute lead with a try through their Cairns-born fullback Brent Webb.

But Webb's conversion attempt hit the post and crucially he failed to add to either of their other two first-half tries.

Australia briefly led when winger Luke Rooney scored from a penalty and Craig Fitzgibbon converted, then added a penalty for a high shot.

But the resilient New Zealanders levelled at 8-8 on the half-hour with a try from Lesley Vainikolo, and they were ahead 12-8 at the break when Vinnie Anderson scored from Logan Swann's inside ball.

The Kangaroos nosed back in front just a minute into the second half when Lockyer shot through the line and Fitzgibbon again converted, and they definitely held the upper hand when Willie Tonga crashed on to Lockyer's delayed pass after 56 minutes.

Shaun Berrigan then touched down Craig Gower's sliding kick and replacement Petero Civoniceva scored the final try when he too grounded a Gower grubber.

The Roos back up next weekend against Great Britain at the City of Manchester stadium.
