Congrats to the Aussies for the big win and also to Greg Murphy and Rick Kelly on Holden's win at Bathurst.

I fixed up the code but I really couldn't be arsed doing the bowling stats as well. Australia had a big win over Papua New Guinea in the rugby league but I was surprised at how many points we let them score.

Australia 70 PNG 22

NORTH QUEENSLAND league fans received a classic hometown moment in tonight's high-scoring international as an Australian Invitational XIII trounced the PNG Kumuls at Dairy Farmers Stadium.

In a sometimes clumsy affair, highlighted by a litany of handling errors from both sides, the Kangaroos raced in 13 tries, but not before the plucky Kumuls scored two of the first three second-half tries.

In the end the class of the Australians, featuring 11 players expected to figure heavily in the upcoming Tri-Series, shone through against the young Kumuls team.

The Kumuls now head home ahead of next weekend's game against an Australian Schoolboys side, while Bennett's Kangaroos squad will prepare for the Tri-Series opener.

I could have said the same thing about you last week. Well Australia won their first soccer match against the Solomon Islands, something like 5-1 I think. As I mentioned above, Holden won Bathurst yet again. That's about it when it comes to Aussie sports.

I won't have time to do the other stats table now because I've been called on to work for this week.

THey have improved in the last few years, thanks to a form slump by Mark Skaife and Marcos Ambrose peaking. He has had a great year. Last year was a good one for him as well.

They don't always lose, they have won more races than holden this year I think.

But go Holden. The Phillip Island Motorbike GP is on next weekend. -MDG

I didn't say I'm too sure, but anyways, if you do rip him off he might be able to give you an answer, and if I am not mistaken, Marcos Ambrose(Ford), is winning the Supercars.

Anyways, Michael Clarke said he won't be disappionted if he doesn't make the 2nd test 1st XI, but I don't see that happening, I think it's bye bye Lehmann, and I am assuming that'll be the end of his international career, barring injury or maybe a differ in the One Day squad. -MDG

Heh, I ripped him off today about it, and he claimed that Holden had won more, but I think he was trying to deny the truth. Oh well.

And I totally agree with you about Lehmann, it's about time they kicked that inconsistant man out of the team. tounge.gif

Hmm... I don't think he'll stay in either squads. There are a lot of promising young players out there, I've actually forgotten some names, but I believe Shane Watson, Brad Williams, Nathan Hauritz, Nathan Bracken, and of course Michael Clarke.

Now I think about it, I'm pretty sure those players are in the ODI squad, but you know what I mean. There's just too much competition for Lehmann to stay in the team.

Yup, Haury will definitely be one of Australia's starters when Warney leaves. Bracken is very accurate and fast, and will definitely go in as Pigeon(mcGrath) goes out. Watson reminds me somewhat of Ponting or Tugga, he can bat and bowl, but is a little better at batting.

Brad Williams, another interesting choice if Pigeon goes, but I think Bracken will get his spot, as he is left handed and we need some more of them bowlers in the squad. Lehmann will probably be in his last season with Australia this year. Of course, Clarkey is here to stay. -MDG

I saw the words 'Australian' & 'Holden' & just had to jump in.

Fair warning- I'm going to get a little girly, so guys are just going to have to bare it for awhile. That's right, your stuck putting up with me. sneaky2.gif

My child is obsessed, & I do mean obsessed with everything Holden.

I'm a Jag woman, so he didn't get it from me, his grandda likes Holden, but by no means is he a Holden freak.

I swear, it's almost as if the 'Holden Gods' reached down & touched him.

He's got the model cars, the posters, the official onepeice crew outfit, even the underwear for crying out loud.

Oh & get this...He hates Ford. It's bizzare! Where on earth do they get it from? lol.gif

He turns 7 this December.

The birthday surprise?

The $500 dollar motorised Holden kids car. (My savings account is really looking forward to it)

End 'adoring mother girly' rant. smile.gif

So, having said that, do know anyone (adult or child), this into Holden?

Were any of you into a particular sport or car this much as a kid?

Can't say I have ever met someone like that. Sort of intereting really. Holy sh*t, $500 bucks. *faints*.......*regains consciousness*.

I have a couple of pairs of Holden boxer shorts. Geez, have you taken him to any races? He is only 7, but god, I haven't met anyone that crazy about any sport. Me myself would have to say is a cricket and rugby freak. I have two mini cricket bats full of signatures, and 3 players that play rugby for Australia. I also lived next door to a guy who played two games of rugby for Australia, and now plays 3rd grade for my hometown. A cookie for anyone who can guess who he is. -MDG

It's a nice change to have a woman posting in this topic. I'm a big Holden fan and I hate Fords but I'm nowhere near as passionate as he is. One of my mates is a Ford fan and I let him know all about it whenever Holden wins a race especially Bathurst. I'm a pretty passionate fan of rugby league - I have autographs of NSW players from the 90's and I have a jersey of my favourite NRL team.

I have to agree that Lehmann has been too inconsistent lately and he should make way for Clarke in the Test side. Martyn better get his act together or he could find himself being dropped.

Yeah, Martyn has had a hard time from the media though, unlike Lehmann, because this is the time when Marto should be peaking in his career.

I think his ideal replacement would be Martin Love, whatever happened to him anyways. Maybe Jimmy Maher would fit in there as well. -MDG

Well, I believe the Socceroos have qualified for the Confederations Cup, with a 6-0 victory over the Solomon Islands in the second leg. Corect me if I'm wrong, as I heard this over an extremely poor radio reception. lol.gif

Pfft, can't say I follow soccer, but anything to strengthen the game is good.

6-0 is good, I remember us beating some Islander team 22-0. Sounds like a score in the NRL. Well, seems that Australia should steamroll New Zealand in the Tri-Series. We have an unstoppable team I think. -MDG

Australia kicked ass in the soccer with Harry scoring a goal in the first half.

If Australia doesn't win the rugby league Tri-Series there's something very wrong with the team.

Darren Lehmann has offered to stand aside for Michael Clarke when Ponting makes a return in the 3rd Test. I think it's pretty generous of him to do that even if he would be the most likely person to be dropped by selectors.

Mafia Drive Gunner- Yep, right there with you, I fainted when I first saw the price tag, but hey, he's a great kid & you only turn 7 once. smile.gif

My stepfather can get get a corporate box, he said he wants to take Azzi along next time, so that'll be a thrill for him.

Storm99- Glad to be here. I'm even more glad to find a forum that has more than 3 Australian members. biggrin.gif

I like soccer, it's one of the few sports I'm interested in.

So much so I got accreditted.

I took 11 4-6 year old boys & girls from constant loss to a 3 out of 4 win on gala finals.

Yay me. (who'd never played soccer in her life).

The kids were easy to deal with, the parents on the otherhand were a right royal pain in the proverbial.

I'm a soccer mum. Good grief.

Next year...Karate mum. I'm not kidding.

My life has gone from 'Sex & the City' to 'House & Garden'.lol.gif

So how are the Socceroos going now funding wise?

It's always been abmysmal from what I've heard.

That's cool, we have a soccer mum posting here. Good job on getting the kids winning, I've seen how bad parents can be when it comes to their kids playing sports. I think the Socceroos will get $2 million just for qualifying in the Confederations Cup.

Australia have had a good first session in the 2nd Test. We are 0/111 at lunch with both openers scoring unbeaten half centuries.

sh*t, that was meant to be the first thing I did when I got home, check the scores.

Says Ponting won't play in the 3rd test either, but he won't care, just more windows of oppurtunity for Gilly and the younger players. Make that 0/120. We still have 60 odd overs left as well. Should be good.

You live in Newcastle don't you? Or about an hour out of the CBD or something? Anyway, at my school today, it hit 40 f*cking degrees. That's way too hot to be at school.
