Tutorial Requests

Trying hard to find a tutorial for mid level/"not total noob but not awesome" modellers for making humanoid characters from scratch, preferably in zmod for exporting to max, blender etc etc. Can't find anything in GK's pinned list (v useful though), and modelingman's bones tut is just great, but yeah I'm having trouble establishing where to start. I suppose I'm basically asking for a kinda guide to the general techniques for things we don't encounter building cars, for example building a head/skull and so forth.

 

Sorry for the vagueness of the request, I thought I'd be able to be more specific... meanwhile I'll keep looking rampage_ani.gif

Does anyone have a good tutorial for importing GTA:3 models to VC? Not just cars, but buildings and other things too. I'm possitive this would be the most pinnable topic in months.

 

There are some GTA3 things I want to import into VC for the Gotham City total conversion mod that would really make it amazing, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it for some reason. Even if someone wanted to do the conversion for me, I could tell them exactly which model and texture files (there are only maybe 6) then move them to the proper location myself in MooMapper. Anyone?

I don't know if i'm the only one who would like to see a tutorial about this, but i post it anyway.

I want to edit the particle.cfg, but i just don't get wjat values to change.

I hope someone can explain this in a tutorial.

I would a tutorial how you get your car from ZModeler/3DsMax to Vice City. With how do you make the TXD's and Dff's.

The make a DFF you need to export it as a DFF from either 3ds Max or zmod. If you don't have DFF as an export option in Max then you need to download the RW exporter. You can make a TXD from scratch using Steve's TXD Builder available on his page. Refer to my alpha tut for more detail and links:

Extract the TXD and DFF from the GTA3 IMG file and add them to the VC IMG file and then place it in the game with moomapper. Use The COL editor to extract the COL file which will be located in the COL file with the same name as the IPL you found it in. In VC simply add that COL file to the IMG file.

I'd like to see a tutorial on installing multiple vehicles all at once (i.e. like a total car conversion) using VCMM. Is this possible to do by selecting "general" instead of "car" for this type of modification? If so, what do you write for the lines of code? Sorry if this is a basic question but I didn't see any info in the readme file and I haven't been able to find any good examples. Thanks.

MONSTER SQUAD

ALright, I've sorted out how to import models and textures from GTA:3 into Vice City, but I also wanted to import models from the game Mafia into Vice City. Fortunatly, I know it has been done before and the models are of the same scale so they don't need to be resized, but does anyone have a quickie tutorial on what steps you have to take?

 

I know there is a lot of cross pollenization between fans of the two games, so this shouldn't be too far off topic.

I really want a tutorial how to edit the original AI skins/models in Vice City...

Cause when i edit or just simply remap the texture of ex the cop... Then i get some error in Zmodeler telling me that there is a loop detected in the Hierarchy. And the when i export... the file won't work in the game.. or just crashes.. Dunno what "Loop Detected" is.. So i wondered if anyone had a good tutorial how to import-- alter-- and export a original dff file from the game ?..

 

btw! The player model is working... Just not the models of the AI ( cop. paramedic, fireman, people.....ect)

Me and my friends want to re-create our home town in vice city. We are not looking to add on to the vice city map, we want to have ONLY our home town, and then later add neighbour towns depending on how well it goes. Our problem is we don't know how to create an empty land mass.

I've read heaps of tutorials on Moo Mapper etc but they are all concerning adding custom items to a map and basic use of moo mapper which is of no help.

 

Could you please write a tutorial on how to do this and how to set the demensions of the land mass. Or point me to one that has already been written.
