I believe it is real, it is actually possible to do a lot with hypnosis and as long as you are careful with it, as Derren is, then he can really go to extremes with it. On that note, though, I thought he almost went too far. Yeah I agree, he nearly went too far. You could see the guys mates looking slightly worried!! Derren used this to his advantage. As for the friends actually helping, what would you do if a cameraguy and a well-known magician/illusionist came out of a door in a pub and asked you to do something? You'd probably do it as well, but the girl looked like she was gonna start crying or something. Derren Brown's type of illusions and tricks means that the only way people will believe him is if he does what he does to every single person in the UK. You'll always have doubt otherwise. I don't see the fascination with watching a couple of people sit on a sofa and talk or watching Paul Daniels live on a farm. What people like these days is a disgrace. Celebrity Wrestling is also crap. Although I only saw some of it. It definitely had a similar concept to Gladiators. Even Ice Warriors which was on so many years ago is better than this Celebrity tripe. What happened to the Golden Age of telly when Saturday Nights were something to really look forward to. I remember when Jim Davidson's Generation game had me in stitches and I loved watching Sofa Soccer on Noel's House Party. Then we could delve into the football with Match of the Day with Des Lynam. Anyway, enough of my rambling. Let's enjoy what is left of good TV.
