I have a Jackson, and it blows any other guitar I've ever played out of the water. I'm going to end up buying that RR3 someday and will put an original floyd rose on it. (Licensed Floyd's suck my nine)

Polish it up before ya take a pic, man.

Nice squier though icon14.gif

Anyway, I've been looking for a new axe around christmas time. Anyone had any experience with any of these?

Ibanez S520EX - hoping to get to try one of these bad boys out this weekend.

B.C. Rich SE Jr. V IT - these just came out, also gotta get around to trying 'em.

Or, for that manner, any other flying Vs?

Shame I can't post a pic of my guitar. It's broken. (Let's say it was a little performance and I got... excited) Well, it wasn't very expensive and it was pretty old. So I'm saving money for a new one. It'll be a Squier Stratocaster Standard Black Chrome. icon14.gif

I need some suggestions for a guitar. I've been wanting to get a new one for a while, but because of money haven't got around to it. I've been playing with a very cheap Austin guitar for the last few years since I started playing, and although it has served it's purpose, I'm ready to move on.

Anyway, like I said I'm looking for some suggestions for a new guitar. I mainly play rock (different kinds though; classic, indie, folk/country-rock, punk, etc) and I'm looking for something around the price range of $300-$400. I'm not too great at playing, but I have been improving a lot, especially over the last few months. I was thinking of maybe a Fender strat or tele, but I'm open to any suggestions.

Help is appreciated. icon14.gif

It's all based on personal taste. I think you should find a large guitar shop(like Guitar Center, or something) and pick up and play anything and everything that you see. And after a few hours, you should be able to pick out the one you liked the best. icon14.gif

Yeah, I knew I'd have to try out a few, I just meant if there was some sort of direction I should be looking into. Like, how do Squires compare to the regular Fenders in the long run?

Thanks for the feedback.

Well here's mine: Image

That pic's a few years old now and the collection also includes a ukulele and a cheap 3/4 nylon acoustic held together with gaffertape. The electric's a DeArmond M75. Due to storage issues I haven't played it for quite a few months now and I'm really geting the urge again.

People have been asking me what I want for christmas and I've been thinking of getting some sort of effect. It's only really for home use. I've already got Boss DD-3 and DS-2 pedals. I was thinking of getting overdrive or compression, but I don't know. I'm also tempted by a RAT. It's been a while since I looked into it.

I don't want anything too gimmicky that I'll only use once. I tend to mostly play blues/britpop/punk stuff.

I know you can say "just go to the guitar shop and try some out", but does anyone have a favourite that they couldn't do without?

What little box has really added to your sound or you've really been pleased with?

I just want to add a bit of colour to my christmas.

Any suggestions?

I traded my DS-2 for a Rat and I couldn't be happier. I've been eyeing Crowther Hot Cakes for a while now, though.

As far as compression goes, people really seem to like the Barber Tone Press.

so, i got slapped by the attractive girl at the music store today..

i walk in, go over to the counter where the girl was working - with my guitar in-hand - and asked her to adjust my truss rod. she paused, and then slapped me, really hard. i don't know why, but jeez, went home un-adjusted.

Sounds like a keeper!

So, I was thinking of acquiring a BC Rich guitar for Christmas. Has anybody here used one of them? They sure do look purdy, but do they play well?

Should that fail, I might just go for a Gibson...I think my guitar depot has some vintage ones.

as for your bc rich question, warlocks suck, as cool as they look. i wouldn't recommend getting a lower-end one. but chuck schuldiner played bc rich's, so i'm sure you could get something in the more expensive price range that would be nice.

Any of the lower end BC Richs are just plain junk. Like f*ckin' cereal box toys.

If you are really bent on a BC Rich, get a custom or an NJ series.

Gibsons are awesome. I would have sex with my SG if I could. but I can't sad.gif

gibsons are the most overrated - and expensive - pieces of sh*t out there.

- crappy pickups.

- an even crappier bridge - they go out of tune unbelievably often.. the irony is, it's called a 'tune-o-matic'. yeah, i wish. -

- every emo crybaby plays one. - yes, this is where overrated comes into play -

if you're into metal, rock, etc... get a jackson. they're cheap(i would recommend something like $300+, the JS series sucks.), sound really good for the most part, and totally rock your socks.

I've got a job now so I want to start saving for a new guitar. I've had the same one first electric guitar for nearly 4 years (Squier Strat). So I'd like a new one. Probably don't want to spend more than 400 quid. Would like something that's versatile, as I tend to write/play songs with quiet bits and loud bits, so I'll need a guitar that sounds good with and without distortion.

So, what would you all suggest?

(I quite like this one. Dunno what it plays like though. It's a ESP Xtone somethingorother.)

if you're looking for a semi-hollow electric guitar, i would recommend an ibanez, they have such great hollow-bodied guitars, they sound so great.

i have no idea how much 400 pounds is in american currency, so i'll just post the link to the whole list.

That's one fine guitar. Best looking semi hollow body I've ever seen, I think. Go for it, I say.

Well, fellas, wish me luck I guess. From out of no-f*cking-where, this network channel designed for the teen population decided to air a documentary about Metallica. And a contest, along with it. The first prize is Gibson Special Metallica edition. I have no f*cking idea what that is, since that's about as much info as they provided yet. I'm thinking Explorer, but there's no knowing for certain. So yeah, I entered. I'm not unhappy or wanting new gear, it was just for kicks.

yeah, that's an awesome guitar, they have it down at the local music shop, it's sound is very crisp, when playing softer stuff, and even some ted nugent.

The Bone County Butcher

The two best wah pedals i have come across would have to be the Jim Dunlop Crybaby and the Dimebag Crybaby from Hell.

Both of these give out an amazing wah sound when used and are great for playing any types of metal.

For Christmas I got a Epiphone LP and I bought a Line6 SpiderIII 30w amp. Not the best, but a nice upgrade from my previous equipment. I also bought a Ibanez Wheeping Demon pedal. Pretty nifty, especially when playing on my friend's more powerful amp.

Once i get a new stick for my camera (f*cking thieves stole the whole lot) ill take a few pics of my Vintage '64 Gretsch hollow-body.

Its a little worse for wear but nothing a good tune-up cant fix.

The only real problem is that the neck is coming off the body a bit, so it wont stay in tune for more than 5 minutes, but im getting the whole shebang restored as soon as i get the loot.

Its got a great smooth sound, especially when you hook it to the wah.

Also, if i can get a hold of it, ill snap a pic of my dads '54 Ibanez 12-string, its a beautiful beast!
