As of late I have been saving my pennies for a new guitar and amp and I can now afford the guitar, I'm looking at getting a Telecaster.

 

Either an American Series:

 

or a Classic Series '72 Custom:

 

Anyone tried both of these? Want to give me some opinions?

 

I can't afford a new amp yet, but I'm thinking about getting either a Vox AC30:

 

Or one of these two Fenders (Hot Rod Deluxe and '65 Deluxe Reverb, respectively)

 

Any opinions on any or all of those would be nice too.

£500-£800 on the guitar. Amp, I'm not 100% sure yet, going to see how funding goes through Christmas.

Mmm, I love me some Vox amps. I might be a little biased towards them, but I recommend buying the vox. Every one I have played has such a nice sound to it.

Yeah, I've heard a few and I love the sound. Never played through one, though. I'm thinking about buying the cheaper AC30, then upgrading the speakers to the Celestion Blues when I have the money. Apparently the Blues are conisderably better.

Get a Mexican or Korean Tele and get a more expensive amp! And I really don't like Vox amps, but it's your choice, eh?

The '72 Custom is Mexican made and is apparently pretty damn good. Plus it has that humbucker in the neck position, which is cool for the contrast from the ultra-twangy bridge pick-up. The '72 Custom is the guitar I am most interested in.

My friend brought his new telecaster into class one time to play it because he was moving the next day. He had a Fender 80watt amp, same as I do, but his Tele was so abused, and not in the good way. The paint was chipping, the pickups were like shot pretty much. There was mud on the neck. But he still could riff out Super Mario Bros. III.

I can't solo for sh*t...

 

I mean, I can do simple blues solos, but for some reason while trying to solo, I just can't get a "groove" going. Know what I mean?

 

Like, when I play rythym, I can just sort of zone out and let my fingers do what comes naturally, but when I play lead I can't get past the point where I'm thinking about what I'm playing, so everything just sounds choppy and listless.

 

Anyone have any ideas other than just practicing on how to improve?

I read on Craiglist.org once that this dudes wife accidently sold his les paul at the garage sale for like $80 so he was posting whoever bought it to please bring it back and he will refund the money.

 

Also SagaciousKJB i suck at solo's also.I practice scales but i can never solo and i would like to but i just stick to playin rhythm.
