I play both i tend more on guitar but bass is cool i like playing punk music on bass same with guitar sometimes metal.

Gibson SG blows.

 

I played one before, it was f*cking horrible. No bass, cut-back mids, only treble.

The pickups are sh*t, action is f*cking horrible, heavy neck.

 

Gibson blows now, in general.

 

Only their specials and customs are good.

What kind of strings do you guys use? I've been using Ernie Ball Regular's for a while now but I think they snap too quick.

I used to be religious to Ernie Ball. But I just find even the "Not even Slinky" to be too light for me.

 

I've been trying some Drop C Specials. The gauge is... .013-.017-.024-.042-.056-.065.

 

I think that's light to be honest.

 

Find some customs. It's all I can be happy with.

 

.017-.020-.028-.048-.068-.072.

 

 

Now when I'm recording, I sometimes use a lighter gauge, for that crisp tone.

 

I hate D'Addario. I broke my strings, so my friend handed me a pack of D'Addario's... I break their heaviest gauge just stringing it.

 

And the times before that, they always were real cheap, and broke easy to me.

Not really, I don't care for brands that aren't to my immediate recognition. Why? It's because if it were actually that good, I would know about it.

 

Also, full-stacks are pretty pointless, unless you play at huge gigs.

 

@String Guage: I use from 9-46 to 13-52. Depends on what guitar.

 

I uisually like more tention, I don't know why. For the higher guages, I totally f*cking destroy them, as I do a LOT of whammy and different effects work.

 

One of my favorites to pull off is bust out an air raid siren (Trem-picking and bend D(5th fret) on the A string) then make a sound of a plane passing over head by adjusting how hard I'm picking on the the G(5th fret on the D string) while still trem picking on the A then amke it sound like it's passing by over head, afterwards I usually use my pinky to go on the 9th fret on the B string, then pull the whammy way back, to make it sound like a bomb is falling, but I stop bending on the A string, but I still trem pick it, so it still sounds like Air raid sirens, and then boom, after then I use some f*cked up effect (Name totally slipped me by) and just make it like everythings just been destroyed, i.e. Playing (022 -EAD Strings) Then detune the e-string while playing it.

 

After I do that, I bust out the intro to One, then play the song. =P

 

I seriously wanna play One at my Rememberance Day Assembly, but I don't think they'll let me & my band. =\

You could always get a Boss Distortion pedal for like $20 on the bay.

 

For acoustic amps, I've loved the Fender acoustic amps. They tickled me so much, but my Guild acoustic doesn't have an input-jack. I don't mind though, I never really need it amplified.

 

The JCM900 is a f*ckING BEAST. Doesn't compare to my MESA, but this thing is f*cking AWESOME. It has such a fat tone. I'm running it through a normal Celestion Marshall 4x12 Slant Cab.

 

I'm thinking of getting a Tube 2x12 for at home use. So when my parents leave I can crank it pretty f*cking loud. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of a Dual Recto 2x12. My 25R isn't making the cut. =P

 

@Jewzander: I love the fact that you say you're devoted to guitar and bass, yet you can't spell Stratocaster. Didn't even say the brand. Same with the SG, whatever. Musically Talented? Please, I'd like to see this...
