Best one I have made so far is the FBI Officer, I spent time creating my own vertice groups and bone weight. Some vertices need to be joined, the Bip01 L&R Clavicles need some adjusting, a part of his neck needs fixed, other than that he is OK. His legs move perfect, only thing that wastes it is the vertices aren't joined.

I spent alot of patching the FBI Officer in zmod, the best one I have done so far.

.:EDIT:.

I noticed something about most GTA3 peds, not all the vertices are joined on the original models, so this is something else that takes up a little time. I believe I will have the FBI Officer final release today.

Hi all,

this looks like a very nice mod you guys are building,

and I would like to help. I know a little something about .SCM coding and .IMG and TXD editing and so on, but how can you edit the EXE-file? What program do you need to do that?

and there already exists a program that can adjust the limits of the EXE,and I think you all probably know it, but I'm gonna post it anyway: VCLIMITADJUSTER, search for it on google and you will find it.

But please tell me how to edit the EXE-file.

Right now I'm just messing around with some language files to create a proggie that can make vice city in all sorts of languages.

Now here's something useful!

Open up your gta-vc.exe with a hex editor, and search for "user". Look at the first result. Note the \GTA Vice City User Files. Edit that to whatever, I'd go with GTA Liberty City Data, making sure to pad the rest of the space with periods (00).

Now, whenever you start the game, it will make a new folder in My Documents with that name. This means you can have a completely seperate and functioning set of saved games and settings for GTA:LC!

Very useful.

I have found something new, I can reposition Hollower's skeleton to align correctly on different models than Tommy.

Right now I am currently fixing the FBI, hopefully this one will be the final.

Pausemap update for LC-350X. Thanks to Hammer83 for posting this which is essentially a pausemap and radar for LC-350X. I used that pausemap as a template for the one I made that looks GTA3.

HOWEVER, this brings up an interesting topic of discussion. Having the GTA3 radar standard will be the way the official release is. But GTA3 didn't have a pausemap. So we are left to interpretation here. Do we go with the one I made that is just the GTA3 radar? Or do we go with Jay Bee's more detailed map? It's up to the popular vote. I for one think JB's is perfectly fine. It will have VC's pausemap feel while giving added detail for those who actually aren't that familiar with LC. I agree with killer.ip that the map is a bit more caustic than JB's GPS radar. But as the pausemap, I think that works just fine.

So what do you guys think? Both links posted here. Radar coming soon enough...

I think that the GTA3 style pause map would be best. Especially since the radar will match that way.

adam broke it.

Demarest, I'm trying to follow convensions as much as you did with Unique Jumps. Also, most variables in offroad missions are already named in scm.ini, so the code is very easy to read. The only thing is lables which for now I leave as is. I'll change everything as outlined.

killer.ip, the reason I tried to modify the map is precisely to check the lagging. Unfortunately, the RAM usage still increases as time goes on. But well, since I'm going to have to reinstall everything from scratch I'll check what update causes the problem. BTW, what LOD problem you are refferring to?

As for GPS 2.0, I think it adds more contrast to the radar. The 1.1 version is quite dull and I like 2.0 more. The problem is with pause map which has border lines of islands in blue because of the water colour (especially when zoomed). I wasn't able to perfectly match alpha channels to cover everything (but who uses pause map anyway smile.gif ).

Oh and one thing I forgot is that I updated some of the radio stations logos in fronten2.txd. New logos for Rise, Flashback, Head Lips and Chatterbox taken from billboards in the city instead of frontend graphics of GTA3 which were small. They are definately not perfect (especially Flash), but I think they are generally better than blurry 2x versions of GTA3 logos.

I think the original GTA3 radar looks better in the pause menu, it blends in with the dark colors in the background.

When doing the update I didn't think of it, but GTA3 style mause map seems a much better idea than colourful JayBee's. However, I think GPS radar is a must, whether 1.1 or 2.0. I'm fine with both, but I personally prefer to have more contrast in the images so I like 2.0 better. I can make 1.1 and original also as alternative - no problem. I have the PSP script that breaks up the image into 128x128 blocks, so it would take me 30 mins probably to do each version of radar.

That's precisely what my program does, but only for the time of execution and so it works independently of what exe you use. smile.gif I'm also thinking of changing the title of the window in the task bar to GTA Liberty City instead of Vice City. This does not even need to be EXE modification. Just use SetWindowText API...

I think it goes without saying that the radar will be GTA3's. Using JayBee's as an unofficial release would be a welcome addition to many, I'm sure smile.gif

All good news. I've taken the overdue step of adding you to the team page. Thanks for your efforts smile.gif The fronten2.txd I just released was built off of yours, so your new radio stations are preserved.

Sorry for double post, it's just no-one would know if it was updated if I edited my last post.

I have made a FBI Officer Beta v1.1.

His neck is fixed, his legs move better again, his arms move ok.

Some vertices are still not joined, and his shoulders need lifted a bit.

If you notice anything else that needs fixed please tell me.

Good work so far guys, but since there are now 2 topics 1 locked and this one would it not be a good idea just to keep this one for the releases and keep the other one open for people to post comments on them and such.

Saying this because there are so many, peds to be done and it might be hard to keep the list updated if several people get involved in converting these peds or making them. Like a download center just for the peds.

I just though it might be a good idea, maybe not.

I think I can update the list fairly often so it would not be a problem. Plus there is Killer.ip and Demarest who are able to edit so if I am away I can ask one to do so. It would be hard to carry on a convo in one thread all about another get my point? However maybe the other thread should be used for skinned vc peds to look like lc peds unless everyone is with me and modeling man and want a convert.

I am currently doing the swat ped and army ped all others are up for grabs

Indeed, I twigged this was the reason you'd brought both zones back. Even if it doesn't reduce the lagging it'll still be a good idea to keep the new coord data in place, I remember a couple of people mentioning they still enjoy seeing loading screens between islands.

This is the ultra LOD effect I was talking about earlier. First shot is with a single zone, second with two:

Of the two I prefer the GTA3 themed one, although I didn't think I would after checking out the textures in the TXD first. wink.gif

It works really well, the orange is really mellow and no offence to Hammer but it's that mellowness that clinches it for me. smile.gif

I did this a while ago, it was decided against because the settings from Vice City couldn't be shared, which is fair enough.

Plus, of course, distributing the modified EXE (and even modifying it) is against the game's EULA.

I'm shocked! I thought that everybody was so eager to get away from classic GTA3 that they would choose a colorful pausemap over GTA3's. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. I was going to use JB's myself, but if everybody feels GTA3's is better, we'll go with that.

And remember as always: Until we release the finished LC, everything and its officiality are subject to change.

If there's going to be different versions and such, might not your table look better like so? (didn't update original post because I wanted you to be able to choose and didn't want to kill your code)

.:EDIT:.

I have worked hard with the FBI Officer, I have been trying different techniques and I think I have finally got the first final ped.

Download and test it and tell me if anything is wrong with it, I think it is good enough.

Thanks Demarest! You can go ahead and edit my posts for changes like that in the future. I'd ask you kindly to get rid of yours in the reply as it may confuse some people not to mention it is of no use.

Okay, here is the GTA3 radar for LC-350X. It is NOT finished though. VC used all white alphas because it's radar was solid. GTA3's was translucent, so its alphas started with a black base. When the radar has an all black alpha, VC ignores it and treats it as all white. This makes for solid orange squares, similar to what you see here:

user posted image

I tried adding a single grey dot in the bottom corner to trick it, but it wasn't good enough. If somebody wanted to tinker with it to figure out how much non-black is needed, it would be appreciated. It affects the TXDs radar00, 31, 39, 47, 55-57, and 61-63 (10 total). Kudos to whoever figures that out. And may I say, whoever designed the radar border did an excellent job!

Additionally, here's the new overlay map for those wanting it for LC-350X:
