Yes, he is. And yes, tools are being developed, but I figure Dem will be done already before they're available.

Since ST.MU has released his skinning tutorial for VC I suspect ped files will start to be transfered. I have stated before that I am willing to take this up however I do not have max right now. So I'll probally zmod the initial dffs to be one structure in the vc position and put them in a pack for anyone who wants to use them in max and start transfering them. I may get max later on. However this will have to wait until after 2d fix 2.0. I can put off the helicopters in favor for peds as the original helis can do but I can not stand seeing vice peds in liberty.

I do believe that Hollower's Blender is both free and capable of being used with Steve's tool. This is vague generalities based on things I've heard here and there, so forgive me if it is inaccurate.

Yes, I'm doing the coords manually. Because of the variables involved and the necessity of the tool maker to have intrinsic knowledge of the SCM format, this is the best option for now. It won't take very long since the initial conversion will have to be done on a relatively small SCM and then modified piece by piece as time goes on. Spread out = not that hard.

@Phreak2K: I've been cleaning up after you fairly regularly, so I'm going to officially say something now. Spam, double-posting, and off-topic posting are all against forum rules. Furthermore, this forum is run more stringently than others because this is supposed to be an organized effort. So please make an effort to adhere to the rules. In addition to that, don't be afraid to search. Literally EVERY question I've seen you ask here has been answered. Also, understand that we will offer very limited support of adding other mods, if at all. We're spending our time trying to finish this. Please tone it down smile.gif

I believe the damanged Sentinel bug was also in GTA3. As I remember seeing a post about it being fixed (for GTa3) way back when.

Something I've noticed we're lacking is paths for the [email protected] internet café, on the one hand I'm hoping it'll be feasible... but on the other I don't want cops peering over my shoulder as I'm browsing, ahem, websites catering for the mature gentleman. wink.gif

Ah but killer.ip the only thing on the computer screen is GTA1, GTA2 and I think the stinger in 3ds max (being modeled). Of course unofficially they can be changed but why bother. Paths will have to be edited to reflect the map move though so maybe the [email protected] Cafe will be added then.

 

Offtopic: I seem to be having errors with gtaforums as if I can't edit sometimes and You have received a new private message keeps popping up often of the same pm even though I have read it/deleted it.

I keep being too slow to get a screenshot, but on the Linerunner, when you bash it up a bit, when the windscreen falls out, it goes transparent while falling and you can see through anything it falls infront of.

I'll try and get a screenshot.

karlneil : there is nothing wrong with that heli on top of donald love's building. walk thru the door to wrap here to get the heli.

The bottom left one goes away when you get a little bit closer on my LC, as does the top-left bug.

Presumably (altho' I'm probably wrong) something LOD related.

ok the heli was just new thing for me cos i didnt see any way up there, its lower than donald loves building. and as for the other bugs they just catched my eye almost every time and i thought to post it. someone should really start a new bug topic with a better structure , so there would only be bugs and the first post should show different bugs that are fixed or are waiting to be fxed. rolleyes.gif

The one on the top left isa similar one to the bug I posted in the last few screenshots there are alot of these about up there in the tress.

The flag for the mesh wall at the airport (top left pic) needs to be changed, update the following line in landSW.ide:

3053, newairportwall4, airgrndb, 1, 200, 4

 

The gap you're seeing in the LOD's is exactly that, but without the faces being rendered on both sides you're looking straight through the other side and onto the sky, should have most of these patched up given a little time.

 

Almost forgot, Wong's windows have been fixed but it's most likely the door'll be making a reappearance soon anyway... doesn't mean you won't be able to remove it in an unofficial mod though. wink.gif

Ok, understood. I've been trying to ask questions less randomly and more intelegently, because, as you can see, I'm on the verge of Banning. I was gonna edit my original post, but I thought of posting another one so it would be known that another problem arised.

 

Although I know some of mapping for VC, i dont know how to move LC. I wont be able to right now aswell, as I am making paths for Odie's Freeway biggrin.gif .

I got that tut together for moving LC with kcow. Everyone feel copy this and use it however you see fit.

 

 

Tutorial for Moving GTA:LC

with kcow's Moo Mapper

1. You may want to backup your old map files to be safe. If so, goto the "gta-lc\data" folder, right-click on the "gta3maps" folder and click copy. Now click edit->paste and a copy of that folder will appear. Now if you accidentally screw up your maps, simply delete the "gta3maps" folder and rename the "Copy of gta3maps" to "gta3maps".

 

2. Install kcow's Moo Mapper. It's available at his website which is http://www.chronetal.co.uk/gta/ and you can also get it at gtawip.com among others.

 

3. Open Moo Mapper, check the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City" radio button, click "launch Moo Mapper", select the directory for VC with gta-LC installed.

 

4. On the right of the screen you will see the list of .ipl's and .zon's that are called by the gta_vc.dat file. One by one, perform the following steps on the .ipl's only:

 

-a. check the box in the beginning of the .ipl line.

-b. double click the words in the ipl line; this will center your map view and list the models from that .ipl in the lower left window.

-c. click "select all" on the bottom left. this will bring up the "item editor dialog" box with all all the models from that .ipl selected.

-d. notice the three 0's just to the right of "move by." Change the first 0 to -350 and press the ENTER button. Click "close."

-e. uncheck the box in the beginning of the .ipl line.

-f. go back to step (a) until you've done this for all the ipl lines.

 

5. Click "file -> save modified files". Run the game and enjoy.

CDex (http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/) is a freeware CD ripper that has built in MP3 conversion (both ways)

 

Also, about the random snippets of police dialogue - would it be possible to write a program that will put them together based on what kind of grammatical units the files are? I wrote a simple program in high school physics class on my TI-83 that did that (mostly with dirty words though). I'm not sure if such a program could be run in game, but if nothing else it could be used to create full sentance files.

 

Anyways, just a suggestion

Ok thanks. I downloaded Moo Mapper again and took a crack at it. Also, for informations sake, my paths for Odies Freeway didnt work. sad.gif The damn thing closes after I add an object and then a node. sad.gif Well...

That is most definitely a clean & easy way of moving the city... glad to see Moo Mapper still has hidden features I haven't uncovered yet, just goes to show I'm still on the learning curve too. wink.gif

 

First post at the top of page one now updated with the tutorial, thanks to jcab42 for the nudge there. Am I right in thinking the default spawn in the current Nomad SCM dumps you in the river? Just checking to make sure I've not made a mistake. If it does that's not a prob, as I know Dem's priority is to get his SCM coords in line with the new IPL's. smile.gif
