LAME's just an encoding engine, as Dem suggested we'd need to write an app ourselves before we could make use of it. confused.gif

 

Keep up the suggestions though, I've been on a bit of a hunt myself but haven't come up with anything viable yet... grrr. sneaky2.gif

@James: Yes, it uses moving invisible save pickups. That way it's as little a drain on memory as possible and leaner because of no code to manipulate the doors and play the audio. Nice and clean.

 

@Mark: Actually, I've been thinking that the extra vehicles should be released as an official add on complete with updated traffic and SCM files. In the meantime, I've voiced my opinion that having the PCJ is enough as is having limited helis. I only didn't limit the helis because I didn't want to rearrange those just yet. Don't worry though, I've see ALL bikes driving around except Pizza Boy.

 

@Knux: Actually, I was just a couple steps away from having all Rampages included too. Unfortunately, the Rampage style is VERY different between the 2. So turning the GTA3 code into VC compliant isn't good enough. I think I'll have to get in touch with Viper187 as he seems to understand VC's Rampage layout fairly well.

 

As I said, you'll probably be seeing a lot more out of me. So maybe garages can be next. I will say that I know that the way garages are referred to are different, so I'm not looking forward to it. I'll have to probably bother ODIE, Barton, and CyQ to figure out more as I know that they have experience with it.

Yeah, it'd be quite easy, but if there's a program we can point people to it makes it easier.

I know of a couple of programs, available for download, but they're kinda shareware. One has a nag screen when you close it to buy the Full version, but it functions completely without doing so.

That's some good thinking about that, definitely nice and clean.

My problem before was that I put the MAIN.SCM in the wrong folder blush.gif .

Well, the documentation's going to come in an HTML format, so providing links to apps in the short term's going to pose no problems. But due to the very nature of the internet, how stable are those links going to be in the long term?

 

Just thinking down the line, future users may come to thank the decision we made at this stage.

 

Of course we could just update the links in the readme... sneaky2.gif

Any command line utilities can be incorporated into an installer what im making, simply make an option for whether people want to install the radio and then if they do, download the software, and run it with some command lines.

 

Simple, i hope.

I also cannot, under any circumstances, break the glass at the dealership in Portland. It is transparant, though.

 

Looking for the fix now...

 

EDIT. Tried messing with flags in temppart.ide no luck so far.

I decided to update the wheels again. The sports rims are now 3D, but you cannot see the inside layer. I think it looks better than what I had before though. I also changed the rest of the wheels to their slightly different GTA3 textures. The link is in the same place it was before.

Mark has the same thing going too unfortunately, and I remember Largo mentioning it as well... it's possible it's system dependant although I don't see how that's possible. confused.gif

My glass is still fine at the dealership. When I installed Mapfix 3, I only copied the newer files (there were about 4-8 of them) but I didn't keep track of which files they were. I can possibly check later, but I have to work in about a half an hour and I won't be back for another 7 hours.

I'm currently working on a new COL for Joey's Garage. All the major stuff is done, including the loft, ramps, and wall objects. Just some loose props are left.

 

Since I don't have 3DSM, I'm going to need a hand getting it ingame. If anyone's willing to help out, please let me know.

 

Also, what do you guys think of replacing the dummy BF Injection with a parked one? Maybe some others on the ramps?

i have an idea how to get the train working easily , we should take the train model from gta3 and then convert it to a car and have it move on train tracks and to give effect of multiple train cars there should be two to three cars driving on a rail and do get fido travel by train you would have to go on a train platform and if the train comes there should be the pink circle inside the train and if fido boards , the screen would fade black and then show a cutscene of train travelling.and if you arrive on the second station the screen would fade again and then it shows fido in the other station.

You also have to install crazydude and knux's car pack. It's on the official released page. That'll give you all of the GTA3 cars, with reflections.

Check out the Updated Collision Files download, the coll for Joey's Garage is done & dusted. We do still need a coll for Kenji's Garden though if you're up for it, and as the model come's with about 6000 poly's it's going to need a bit of work. If you need a hand just let me know. smile.gif

The indication of Fido travelling would be the easy part (sort of). It's getting the train to behave on its own in Fido's absence that would be hard IMO.

Uh... no? In GTA3, the inside wasn't even accessible without cheats. Making it all solid (except the floor in the back) should be more than enough.

 

So am I to understand that both the helirock and helipolice will be dealt with by time the beta is compiled? I plan on continuing to work with the SCM on my days off, so you can expect minor updates frequently. I would like to take out the code that addresses these ASAP so I don't forget to later. As it is, I was pulling my hair out when I went to put in wasted and busted spawn points and Fido would occassionally respawn at the airport. It was because of artifact code which is going to be something I'm going to be facing every step of the way. So taking things out as soon as possible is not only a good thing, but it becomes harder as the code goes.

 

On a side note, when I installed Blunted1's last release (first time using files remorely current in a long time), my Cruisers were all either the blue they were supposed to be or kind of a dark VCPD green. Never saw black... Oh, and my Easy Credit Autos glass is both transparent and breakable.

Weird. I remember thinking about taking the Sparrows out, but figured people might mind. So I guess everybody should chip in as to what helis they feel belong on the Casino and airport helipad and if they're cool with Sparrows disappearing altogether. I think I had intended to make the airport one Police and Keni's the Maverick since that airport helipad is where the Police chopper comes from and there's a Police car there too.

 

I also forgot to mention upon release that the island sniffer code is audible for debugging purposes. At many points in time in the original GTA3 code, the code would check to see what island you're on. I don't know if VC supports this feature, but if it does, it will most likely be innacurate. So I made a master code to always monitor your position to determine what island you're amongst. So if while traveling, you hear an audible tone, that's the code's indication that you've crossed what it feels to be the island borders. Please feel free to experiment and report any errors you find. I'm thinking about making it so that if you enter into Portland or Shoreside space, that it will chime once and if you enter Staunton, it will chime twice. To keep the confusion down.

 

Also, is anybody else getting this? A good 60% of the time or more that I go to start a new game, it crashes. I can ALMOST guarantee that this is the code's fault. The fact that it only happens part of the time woudl be an indication of bad timings inside. I severely stunted the startup code and it seemed to make a large difference. But just now, it crashed about 90% of the time. Please report back as I'll probably have to slow it down even further; a very bad thing to have to do up front while the city is being defined confused.gif

I get the feeling Oleg was done with ZModeler1 at the end of last summer, we were lucky to get the current filter working at all as the first one he released had a real showstopper bug.

 

Wouldn't hurt to ask, but I think he's in ZModeler2 development hell at the mo. ph34r.gif

Oleg may not want to update the filter, true, but maybe we can ask for the source and update it ourselves.
