In terms of the bikes, how do you figure they're not already "GTA3 authentic"? They look modern enough, especially the PCJ.

 

As for the helis, the police one is awesome. We should still try to change the 3-star pursuit skin along with it. In the event that we can't (not likely), how does everybody feel about keeping it black for controllables ones and green for the automated one? SHould be a last resort.

 

Also can't wait to see Mark's Purple LM Maverick.

For this reason, maybe I can rearrange the official weapons replacements to coincide with law enforcement and such. That way we could keep more VC weapons in. We'd have to do some model/stat/etc swapping, but mostly straightforward. Anybody willing to take the initiative? It's bed time for me. sleepy.gif

I would, but I'm not completely sure what weapons the law enforcement use.

Maybe I'll go annoy them in a minute and find out biggrin.gif .

The only change the bikes need is new license plates. It looks weird driving around Liberty City with Florida plates. I tried it myself, but I kept screwing up the textures.

A bug not related to car colours now...

 

This is as close as I can drive to the front of the dustbin truck.

As you can see, the shadow of the truck sticks out and the front of it is as close as I can get. When I hit here, the front of the truck starts falling apart like I'd actually hit it. I'm no modeller so I don't know the problem.

Also could you replace the Kaufman Cabs with the Borgnine because the Borgnine sounds like the Kaufman instead of the Zebra.

We could use the original gta3 chase copter I assume. The VCN Maverick has the same problem as the chopper this is why I couln't make my LM Maverick :angry:

Same back at you bro! I must say, you guys have really breathed new life into me. Afterall, LC is the reason why I got into this stuff. I got into VC a bit but my goal remains the same to this date: take advantage of all that great real estate that R* left behind in the original game, namely the ghost town. We like to call in Cabanioven County. So I give you guys major props for keeping LC alive and giving us a chance to blend the best aspects of both games with lots of room left over for unofficial mods. Congrats, my hat's off to you.

 

To follow up with the Stunt Park report: turns out that the glass fix is not empty, rather my version of winace was malfunctioning but now that I got it decompressed, it's making my game crash. I'll have to read up on that. A couple of other things to remember for people trying to install gta3 mods is to be carefull with changing things like the object.dat and don't try to use the old main.scm's or saved games (triple duh). Also, now my game crashes when using the replay with the helicopter (bummer).

 

I just got Bender, Stunt Park, Anthony's Castle, and Byards into the same game together. They almost work perfectly together but Byards and Bender still need some work to solve some overlap... Once again, the installations went smooth as silk.

My Yakuza Stinger is now all black. No idea what changed between then and now. This mystery just gets deeper and deeper.

 

EDIT: My Stinger is now fine. I downloaded the new main.scm and it was spawning a hotring instead of the pheonix (where the yakuza should be). I don't know if that's anybody else's problem or not. But there's a few cars in the nomad v3b that are switched around. I'm finding out which right now.

Has anybody converted the AK47 yet?

I am fairly certain that no one has, and that the AK-47 is the last weapon that needs to be converted.

 

 

@Dem, You mentioned that we may be able to leave a couple unused weapons in so that they can be accessed only through cheats....

If we do leave weapons such as the minigun and others in the game, we will need to create HUD icons for them aswell so they dont look goofy.

 

These will obviously need to be custom made as there are no counterparts in gta3.

In my opinion HUD Icons of the unused weapons accessable through cheats should be a different color (not VC's or GTAIII) The reason I say this is because you are not supposed to have access to these. It will also make them distinguishable from the actual GTAIII weapons. Plus it may clear up confusion if someone posts pics with an unused weapon.

yeah been testing with closer nodes for the last couple of days, and there wasnt any noticeable difference, traffic will never be as it was in gta3, something that always bothered me too since the original vice city, was that with 5+ stars (fbi), almost all traffic disappears.

Maybe someone can make a trainer-like program to increase the number of cars that spawn in your "bubble"?

Using memory hacking this can be acheived. Steve-M and Delfi do it quite a lot, I read steve reporting what happened when he prevented cars from being destroyed by the trash clearup. However, GTA3 has the same vehicle limitations as Vice so altering it would brake the authenticity thing you guys have going here. smile.gif

 

If your game is lagging badly, try defragmenting your hard drive. Also, if the game lags in standard Vice then you are simply running too high a draw distance and screen resolution. Drop both these down a few settings for draw distance and a couple of resolution should help. Cars shouldn't cause as much lag as pedestrians, but there's so few of either that if your game is lagging with the GTA3 or Vice cars you are just running the settings I've mentioned too high.

Great ideas guys. I think it should remain a basic shadowed monochrome like GTA3's were. We'll need a good artist for those. What color were you thinking? Maybe a bright red as to indicate crossing the line?

@Craig: No. Nomad v3b's only difference in terms of vehicles is that 3 RCBarons are enabled where the Dodos go for testing purposes. That and the spawn button change are the only differences.

Thats brilliant. That way they could still look like gta3 weapon HUD's but a different color like red will make them easy to tell apart cool.gif

 

I know a few good artists. I will pass the idea along and see what they can do, cuz I haven't had much luck so far myself tounge.gif

As I was reading your post, I was thinking about asking about Anthony Castle. Then I saw you mention it smile.gif I realize that sadly I'm not over at the wip anymore, but I always loved the family feel there as well as their loyalty to GTA3 over VC. Look forward to your presence here.

 

You mentioned the problems with putting GTA3 mods into LC, isn't there also an extra value in the IDE files or something like that? Something to do with interiors? I forget.

Actually, VC ide's are exactly the same as GTA3. The last value deturmines whether a model is normal, transparent, or underwater.

I want to be crystal clear here: installing gta3 mods into GTA-LC is a easy. None of the problems I was talking about were installation problems. Allow me to recap.

 

1. game crashes on replay while using the helicopter

2. game crashes while standing next to animations like the smoking chimney

3. game crashes after installing the GTA-LC glass fix

4. Not all lights work

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like LC's "traffic bubble" is alot smaller than the one in VC. And traffic is alot more sparse, too. Might just be the time of day...I don't know...

Everyone is posting that they have black cars, at the moment I dont see any black cars everthing seems to be working properly although I have'nt purposely gone looking for particular cars so there might be.

While I was kocking light poles around Chinatown for no reason, I found this gtlich.

 

More sunken poles.

Most of the poles in the city are going to need a little tweaking, very do-able but it will take a little time due to the sheer number of them... should be dealt with in the next mapfix update. wink.gif

 

Steve, it look as though most of the bugs that R* left in GTA3 are going to... er, have to be left in the game. Every object we edit (at the moment) is tending to lose it's light data, in other words it still ends up having a bug, just a different one.

 

If anything this shouldn't be a problem, this way we couldn't be any more authentic if we tried. smile.gif

Leaveing bugs and glitches for the sake of authenticity doesn't sound so appealing to me.

 

Maybe as a last resort if we had no other option and the light bug looked worse than the one being fixed.... but if we had a choice I would be much more in favor of fixing "authentic bugs"

The "authentic" bugs add a nice charm and realism.

I think fixing the bugs that aren't there originally should be a priority.

Personally, I'd love to see the GTAIII bugs left in smile.gif.
