I have add: if you are busted on portland (etc) you will spawn at the portland police station.

I you wasted on portland (etc) you will spawn at that hostpital.

 

I gonna update the file i have forgot somthing... if you wil busted at the airport you will spawn on the airport i gonna fix that now.

Its too obvious for you not to have thought of Im sure, but remove the first three colors?

 

You want to know what is really strange? I have a working cartel cruiser that is never black and always blue.... but when I place it over your black one there is no difference, it will still be black occcasionally.

 

gtaGaming.com has the cartel cruiser for VC, complete with proper carcols, handling, and default.ide..... but installing that over your black cartel, doesnt change the problem confused.gif

If so, you need to make sure you replace one of the street wannabes with it. Documenting which model is getting the skin and linking to the skin would be helpful.

Looking at that picture, I just know it sucks. But there aren't many correct people in vice smile.gif The vice people are just too skinny

 

I just took bfyst.dff (vice) and criminal01.txd (gtaIII), photoshoped them,, and inserted them as wymcr.dff (vice) and wymcr.txd (vice), so It replaces the guy wich is always followed by cops smile.gif And steals your nice pcj600 like above sad.gif

Do you have both games? He mentioned which game each file was from.

 

@Geqxon: VCers aren't going to have poofy winter coats. You've done the best in terms of that particular ped. So until a better one comes along or we get some sort of ped conversion going on, yours is the one. So go ahead and share the files here.

@Blunted1: He made a post that really didn't add to the thread and you responded. I wanted to delete his, but then yours wouldn't make sense. I didn't want to delete both because you didn't deserve to have your post deleted as you were just replying to the situation. Most times I get the impulse to delete, I try to think of a reason not to as it shouldn't have to be used.

 

At any rate, Blunted1 is right. The SCM is one thing I would like to do alone. The reason being is that first off, there is no easy way to just take a piece of software, point it at the 2 SCMs and say "convert". So it HAS to be done manually. Since the SCM itself is hex, but we write it in a text editor where we can understand it, the source code doubles as notes. The SCM has to be updated in modules for the most part, as you cannot just add a few lines and call it a day. You have to convert over entire threads and entire missions at a time. That's a LOT of conversion to do in one sitting.

 

When I added the insane stunt calclations, it didn't take me long at all. It's because I have a few tools here and configured properly that help me to do some aspects of the conversion easier and faster. So the only reason we would need an additional coder is if I wasn't holding up my end. I haven't been, but mostly for external reasons like the GXT. Still, there are things I probably could do and those are coming within the next few days hopefully. My corpse is awakening and using such things as this to pass the time, so get ready.

 

Having said all that, there are certain things I WOULD like to invite the public into in terms of coding. There are things like the crusher, IE Garages, Boullion garage, etc that are hard-coded in GTA3. Because they are not in VC, we will have to simulate them as best we can. I already have ideas as to how they can be done, but since that part of it is not conversion, it's something that others could write as modules and offer. May the best offering "win" and be included. For those willing to take up such a project, I only ask that you provide me with the source code so I can add it to the "master source code" and integrate it appropriately.

 

For any prospective coder that does not necessarily feel like contributing in that manner, I invite you to come up with other things that will need to be simulated instead of converted. Thank you.

Makes perfect sense to me. Delete his posts, delete my posts that answer him, and delete this post too if you like.

 

Organization is more valuable than those posts that are useless now.

Keep your last post explaining exactly what you want and how you want people to contribute to mission codeing.

 

 

Deletion sprees are very important in keeping the forum clean, just dont delete anything that contains usefull information.

There are a number of useless threads that could be deleted too.

The first that pops to mind is my thread entitled "if i cant post anywhere else"

it has nothing in it and is a waste of space.

Dem will take care of the spawning, it may not be in his next release but he is well aware of it and will complete it as soon as he is able to.

He does have a LOT on his plate with everything else going on, but I am sure if it is not contained in the next release he makes, it will be very soon after.

I'm not sure, I'll try it in a bit.

I'm sure we could add/move weapons to slot 9 if needed, because that only contains the camera which I don't remember GTAIII having.

Slot 0, iirc, only contains the Brass Knuckles, so that may be useable too.

Beautiful biggrin.gif That way we still have the added bonus of a minigun and other assorted weapons, but no way to use them without cheats so a normal game is not affected by it. smile.gif

I'm sure the nightstick will have to go considering the method of removal so far, but that can be put back by replaceing the weapons.dat line which is very easy biggrin.gif

Yes, the weapons are still there, and still useable.

A lot of the weapons won't be spawned anywhere in the game (as has been said) and can be left alone anyway, it's really only the night-stick that needs editing this way.

For this reason, maybe I can rearrange the official weapons replacements to coincide with law enforcement and such. That way we could keep more VC weapons in. We'd have to do some model/stat/etc swapping, but mostly straightforward. Anybody willing to take the initiative? It's bed time for me. sleepy.gif

There's a couple problems with this though. For one, GTA3 DID use the detonator. And VC's engine figures slot 0 as the fist anyways. So if we used it, we'd simultanesously make it to where the player couldn't choose fist if they wanted.

Expect more activity from me as I'm sort of in the mood. Hope that doesn't change.

 

As for deletions. Not necessary. While organization is key, so is the publicness of this mod.

Redoing the Packer wasn't necessary, but hey, if you're willing to... It looks great.

 

I think the bikes and helis already look modern enough.

Unfortunately, all cheats are hard code. Some can be simulated, but ther is no way for the code to attenuate that feature.

I would, but I'm not completely sure what weapons the law enforcement use.

Maybe I'll go annoy them in a minute and find out biggrin.gif .

I dunno, after looking at the new packer I'd be more open to suggestions like Monitor57's cool.gif

I'd say let anyone who is willing model a new bike or heli to replace the VC ones and look more gta3 authentic (even though there were none)

 

If anyone makes one post it in the unofficial mods section for now,

The end decision lies with Demarest so it may be pointless, but if I see one that I personally like enough I will throw it into my unofficial installer.... and who knows maybe it will reach the "Official Beta" if it shocks dDemarest into changeing his mind tounge.gif

HOWEVER, I think modifying whatever needs modified to restore the game boundaries to those similar to GTA3 should be acquired by any means necessary.

Speaking of that...

 

Is moving the city still out of the question? Even given the proper tools? ^-^

That's what Marcel is working on: tools to move things.

 

How far exactly does the city need to be moved again?

Following on from the last couple of posts in the GRAPHICS thread (I feel it's more relevant here)....

The law enforcement uses the following weapons...

 

Type - GTAIII - Vice CityCops - Colt45 - Colt45FBI - AK47 - MP5Swat - Uzi/C45 - Uzi           UnderCover - N/A - UziArmy - M16/Gren - M4

 

 

So, based on that, I think the best weapon replacement list is:

 

GTAIII -> Vice CityUnarmed -> UnarmedColt45 -> Colt45Uzi -> UziShotgun -> ShotgunAK47 -> MP5M16 -> M60RocketLauncher -> RocketLauncherFlamethrower -> FlamethrowerGrenade -> GrenadeMolotov -> MolotovBaseballBat -> BaseballBatSniperRifle -> SniperRifleDetonator -> Detonator

 

These fit with the law enforcement, and all use the same models with the exception of 2.

If anyone has alternate ideas, then say but I think this works well.

I've done a weapons.dat to match this, and tested most of the weapons [the one's i could find easily] and they're fine and seem to work quite well.

There is a problem with your list. In GTA3, SWAT carried both colt45 and uzi and the army carried both m16 and grenades. I'm not terribly interested in whether or not we can preserve the dual weapons, especially in the case of the grenades that they never used even though they dropped them. However, it looks to me as if the m16 would be a better replacement for the M4 than the M60.
