The police radio may be difficult if it depends on where you are and the game relating that information but it seems it would be fairly simple to switch files such as what the pedestrians say and such.

As discussed before, this can be addressed since the zones are defined by editable files. It's just a matter of the amount of zones and lining them up with the audio properly.

I will release the pack in the next mins , both cars (perennial & Cartel Cruiser) will have a minor colors problem (sometime good, sometime black).

You're right. Somehow that fact eluded me when I posted. Maybe there would be a way as you said to make it check for the CD to launch the game and let you run without it afterwards. The perfect answer. Are you sure that's not how it works as it is if you tell it to install the audio to the hard drive during installation? I don't know because I DO use the bad word.

I appreciate the support there. As everybody knows, I'm at a low point in my life, and GTA and these forums are what I use as my therapy. So I had already decided to just go ahead and start converting things even though it will mean having to go over it a second time. Instead, maybe I'll just go over fresh GXTs myself and make the conversions. It would give me something to do and would pave the way for large SCM upgrades.

If I read you correctly, yes I am sure.

It boggles my mind why rahkstar.gif gives you the option to copy the audio to the harddrive.

I am guessing that it may use the files on your harddrive to buffer the CD, but if your CD is in the drive it will read them from there.

(I'm pretty sure it will do that no matter what exe you use)

However I did notice that if you do not copy the radio it will not read the radio from the HD at all, even if you replace it confused.gif

 

We should ask around and find anyone who is experienced in editing the exe file and see if they are able to bypass the audio being read by the CD while still requiring the CD to be there for authenticity checks.

 

Otherwise, as I said before, rahkstar.gif may possibly create one for you in order to keep the CD check.

I hear rahkstar.gif is very protective of their exe, so maybe they would prefer doing it themselves anyways.

Yeah, from what has been said the police radio does sound very possible (the number of zones is however still an issue i believe),

I'm just saying there must be far easier things to transfer.... possibly things that will have a far bigger impact on gameplay right away....

such as what the pedestrians say.

Or what the cabbie says when you throw him out of his taxi and drive off.... etc

 

Don't mind me. If everything is going according to plan and working just fine, feel free to ignore me or say you have things under control.

I'm just suggesting what I think could be much simpler and add more to the game quicker.

No I understood where you were coming from. I think that's why it hurt so much. I think that if you knew my life, both past and present, it would make more sense. So I felt that you were judging way too quickly to realize how it was different form situations that might seem similar.

 

 

I dont want any problems with you Dem, so if we could let the past rest in peace and go on with the future I think it would be benificial to everyone.
I've wanted that from day one. I've always told you that I was down for that.

 

 

The main.scm changes that i requested would take you a few minutes to complete and the would not interfere with the GXT or the peds whatsoever.
The button things would take moments. The saving thing would take some time though.

 

 

If you could possibly update those two things and release that it would make a world of difference to me Dem. If you would rather not then I will have someone else do the code for my release as I would like to have an updated installer ready in the next day or two includeing some changes that will make a large impact for some like the two mentioned.
That's a bit out of line. While I may not be pulling my weight well enough around here, I don't see how intentionally releasing code that didn't come from me is going to help. Especially after I just posted that I'm going to get on it. Right now, I'm hours past my bed time and work the next 2 nights. So it's going to have to wait as far as my input. I'm sorry if that doesn't fit your schedule.

 

 

I get the feeling you do not want to help me by makeing those two changes, so unless you say otherwise i will go now to find someone else to code for me.
I do want to help you as I appreciate your efforts. I don't think making presumptions as to my intentions and then posting them as fact is going to help anybody here. It strikes me as distasteful.

 

 

I dont think you should waste your time doing anything twice becuase something else isnt being worked on.

If I get any spare time from everything else I am doing I will atleast look at the GXT as that seems like it should be fairly straight forward

I wish. If nothing else, the documentation aspect of it alone will more than double the work load. Not to mention that it has to be tackled by somebody with a decent amount of retention from both games to understand what's expendable and what must stay. If that's you, go for it if you want. After the next SCM update, I'll probably get started on it. Not looking forward to that as it is going to be a very tedious transition.

Until then if everyone can double and triple check every bug that has been reported thus far before posting a bug they found that will really help Demarest when he gets the time to organize everything.

That was actually covered up front. You can begin to understand why in the beginning I wanted to run the place so tightly: to drive home how things should get done around here. Can I get a witness?

Well apparently the answer to all your black cartel cruiser probles is:

 

sandking, 54,76, 71,75, 11,75, 18,74, 44,75, 41,75, 52,74, 32,76

 

I immediately saw your black cartel after installing your cars over my installer. After reverting back to my carcol.dat (which is yours besides the sandking and one or two others) I never saw it again.

Anyone who used my installer that wishes to use these cars should do everything it says in the readme EXCEPT copy the carcols.dat

Leave the carcols.dat from my installer and everything will work just fine.

 

[DISREGARD EVERYTHING I SAID ABOVE]

 

I now have what I can only call the "Cartel Cruiser Black Carcol Virus"

 

There is no way of removeing it so far. I even reinstalled my original model with the original carcol and everything..... unless the problem lies in the handling somehow I am baffled as you are.

 

Bu tI can assure you that you will never find a carcol that will make it blue all the time confused.gif

 

Someone is currently testing a solution for me, I'll let you know if I figure anything out, but dont bother with what I said above wink.gif

 

 

Anyone useing my installer can copy the carcol line from your carcol, over top of the one contained in the Car Package above. Extract the car.zip contained within and remove sandking.dff and sandking.txd.

Open the install script and remove any line with sandking in it (there are 4, you must delete the titles above them [deletefromIMG] & [add2IMG])

 

This should be fixed soon with lots of people working on it so I wouldnt bother for now.... the occasional black cartel isnt that bad.

 

[EDIT]

ok, i asked someone to do the above to their install and the cartel cruiser is STILL black.

That is seriously a virus or something nervous.gif the "carcol virus" lol.gif

 

I dunno what to say, with just my installer they were all blue, all the time.... now even after afresh install and my installer they are still black confused.gif

 

Maybe releaseing these inst such a great idea nervous.gif

Be carefull, your cartel may never be blue again confused.gif

I don't know.

Unfortunately, the game locks up when you kill the Officer.

I'm going to play with the various flags see if I can make it not lock up.

 

EDIT: removed - it doesn't apply anymore

 

EDIT 2: Here's a nice fix. If you use the following line for weapons.dat, then the Police Officer carries a gun around, but when you're at wanted level 1, just punches you with that hand. Also, when he's killed, he drops 2 Colt's in the same place so they only appear as one (but you get 2x the ammo).

that shouldn't really be the case unless you are using a coloured reflection instead of a plain white,grey,and black

@GTA-1 - All cars are in , EXCEPT the dodo. It has the 2nd version of the police car (inside siren) in remplacment of the cheetah, I tried the script and so before releasing to see if everything was alright.

 

@[4D]Outback: nope, not at all, is uses the same kind of reflection than all other cars.

 

@Blunted1: I dunno, sometime, it works with a carcols.dat after it doesn't anymore, it work again, then not after confused.gif it's hard to find the problem in these conditions....

 

I will try "for the Xth time" to do the updated packer wink.gif

I'm figuring the game reverts to the CD files if it detects altered ones on the hard drive. I don't recall my CD drive spinning up while I'm ingame.

I'm making a GTA3 version, by keeping the original GTA3 car style for the packer but not the 80's version wink.gif

For the weapons you're not supposed to have, I think that doing what I did with the NightStick would work. Ie, make any weapon you're not supposed to have use the stats and model of one you are supposed to have.

I'll explain why I think it'll work.

Each entry for the weapons in Weapon.dat specifies the type of weapon it is, the animation is uses when "fired" and the ID of the model it uses. When the person holding the weapon is killed, they drop the weapon matching that ID, which is then picked up. So you don't pick up the weapon you're not supposed to have. If the weapon isn't spawned anywhere, and you can't pick it up, then you're going to be hard-pressed to have it in-game.

 

I'm going to try this out now.

I'll keep y'all posted.

 

EDIT: I put an edited weapons.dat into Vice, and it works fine.

If someone posts a proper weapon replacement list, I'll work on getting a proper copy of weapons.dat done like I said above.

Also when the cop starts to shoot, it looks like he's doing it with the gun he was holding.

In an effort to help keep you folks up to date with the latest GTA3:LC files Demarest & myself will be bumping this topic whenever an official release becomes available. If anyone feels the list needs amending then please get in touch via PM, Dem & I are usually kicking around the forum so it shouldn't take long to get a reply.

 

The v3 Final update to Pinecreek-Skidz MapFix is now available... those pesky LOD's are history plus a number of object's around the map are now correctly positioned. smile.gif

I am likeing the new packer cool.gif

 

Since my installer has a working cartel cruiser, I am fairly positive I can mess around with it until it has the all of your cars and somehow my cartel cruiser that is always blue.

It isnt looking great yet but it literally must be possible if I have a working one.

You said that the "button thing" will take minutes, but the "save thing" will take longer......

 

Let me clarify the second thing I want incase i explained incorrectly or unclear,

I just want a row of weapon pick ups (all the gta3 weapons) and armor, maybe a couple wanted stars.... maybe that will take a while but I thought that was fairly easy too confused.gif

All of that would be removed for the official version, it would just be nice to have for now.

 

That is not necessary if it is too much trouble, because as I said it would be temporary.

 

Just to keep you informed, a common complaint I have heard is that you do not get sent to the hospital if you die or the police station if busted.

If that one is easy to fix that might be a good idea for a next release.

But again if it is difficult leave it for later if you like.

 

I just need something quick for the next installer that will tackle the spawning button, and add to the beta and make it more enjoyable until the missions and everything are ready.

A row of weapons and armor would be great for rampageing, and correct character spawning after death would make a big difference in looks, so if they are easy enough..... if not dont worry about it.

I understand Dem, but there is just so much you can do.

Don't feel like you failed by a long shot. You did an excellent job setting up the forum and setting a structure for things.

 

Repeating things like I just did, helps but there is only so much that can do.

Hopefully you will have time and can organize things kinda like I suggested and clean out the entire thread soon, and then things will be alot more organized.....

 

but naturaly, being in a public forum with public contributions, it will get messy again eventually.

 

You are doing an excellent job.

I think once all the discovered bugs have been posted into the top posts of a clean thread, people will be more aware of what is and is not posted.

 

but I do see what you mean....

EDIT: I checked carcols.dat, and it looks like they're supposed to be.
