Ah, it was me who had replaced the SFX add-on files a few days ago because I had noticed that both mirrors didn't serve the latest version of Alt's installer.

I had reuploaded them a few days ago but did not notice that the file I uploaded to the servers had blanks instead of underscores in their names. (They would look exactly the same as the forum software auto-underlines all clickable links, so I didn't notice something was wrong.)

I've now renamed the files I had uploaded, so that you're now getting the second, latest and greatest incarnation of Alt's installer if you use any of the links. You don't need to re-download if you've already got the first version as there hasn't been a change in functionality or files affected - the outcome for both versions is exactly the same.

This problem happens because they downgraded the IIItoVC.asi which disables the ability to toggle this. Hopefully someone could fix it.

Do you guys think you will be able to make the Dodo behave the way it does in GTA III?

 

In GTA III its set as a car for the ide line. Aren't GTA III handling lines compatible with Vice City? The flying cars cheat in VC has the cars operate like the III dodo, so I know its possible to make it like in III.

Well from what I'm told the Dodo is like a car in GTA III. I'm sure that if you carry over its handling parameters from GTA III it should work. I bet its something special with the handling line. If not, you can always make it drive as a car, but make a script that enables the flying cars cheat well the player is in the Dodo then disables it when the player exits. If the Dodo's ability to get airborne isn't done through the handling in GTA III I'm sure its done some way like this. But my recommendation is to move over the handling parameters, and if it flys great. If it doesn't fly, then do the flying cars trick I told you about, but keep the handling in there too. There is a chance that flying cars is how it works in III, and it will make it as close as possible.

I defer to the modding crew, but if you get the Dodo to have the original

handling properties, please make it something you can toggle.

Now thats the way to do it. If you can do that though, you should remove the RC aircraft height limit as the Dodo uses the RC plane and make it full winged.

I have no idea if that's something we can do. Does anybody know if we can add a second Dodo that has full wings and good handling? The RC Goblin has full wings, but even after I copy the handling data from the current dodo it will not drive/fly anywhere and it explodes with a few punches. We could also eliminate the Sea Plane and give it wheels if that would be an option.

Is the Sniper Rifle pickup by the Armor pickup on the roof of Uncle BJ's N of the circular

onramp to the lift bridge an LC mod extra or just generally overlooked by "GTA III" map

makers?

Not sure what you mean. I thought that gun was always there in GTA3/LC.

 

Oh and nothing was changed with the taxi code tounge.gif Must have just been a mixup the first time you reported it wink.gif

One thing I've noticed is, the grenades from VC are still being used instead of the III ones (At least the textures still are. I have no idea if the model is different between the two games).

 

I have some more general bugs I've noticed that aren't particularly related to 3.3.

A minor update to share. The FBI car is now the same color from the M_CRANE as it is when the FBI chase you at 5 stars.

I have finally updated this checklist for the current status of the mod.

 

If anybody can help with any of these items, I would greatly appreciate it. I am currently working on rewriting most of the scm into a high level format that is very similar to the original GTAIII source files. I have about 21 of 80 missions done.

Outside of fixing the camera for the RC missions, I do not see us focusing on this issue much. If someone knows how to fix it, we'll gladly use it though.

Yes, that's something we'd like to figure out. It's not as simple as it may sound though.

We may be able to attach the sound to that with the scm. Does anyone know where the wave file is for the train?

I have the two files if you want me to send you copies. In my Audio folder

they're called:

 

sfx00466 (Train 1 - GTA3 sfx00030)

Steady volume sound of train rolling--less treble

 

sfx00467 (Train 2 - GTA3 sfx00031)

Steady volume sound of train rolling--more treble

 

"Menu highlight from III converted"

 

I think nkjellman means the part of the menu that lights up when you run the

cursor over an option. I don't remember if there's a difference.

Back Side of Shore Side Vale: As we can now fly Helicopters, the back side of shore side vale is the north part of it that isn't modeled yet. But you may want to try to fit Ghostown into it as well.

 

Menu Highlight: Yes, I'm talking about the highlight in the main menu. I played the latest beta, 3.3, and it still is the VC one. I mean the part that lights up when you hover over it with the mouse.

 

 

 

Also I have another idea (shouldn't be to hard) that you guys should implement. In GTA III 10th Anniversary Edition they added the pause map which showed the gang icons on it. You guys should put it in the pause map for your mod. Here is a pic.

I liked how they put that in the game. It makes me wonder if they may put that in GTA V's pause map. Anyways, I have a jail broken iPod Touch, and I could get them off of it for you. I don't remember but I thought I saw them in there in a format that you could open normally on a PC with out any GTA tools.

What's that?

I believe they mean the back of SSV (where the ghost town is) is a huge open world hole to "blue hell" which could be modeled to be complete to make it look more professional.

 

 

My issues that I could see being fixed for a final release:

 

-MANY MANY rooftop collision issues/unfinished world holes. I have a collection of screenshots of where these are and potential fixes.

 

-it seems as if 60% of the Staunton Hospital doesn't have any collision at all

 

-The Pay'n'Spray/Ammunation radar icons tend to get in the way of some missions such as 'The Wife' and 'Grand Theft Auto'.

 

 

That's all I can think of for now. I'll post more later.

Updated to 3.3 and now get constant errors while cruising around the city. The game freezes nearly every time after 5-10 minutes of gameplay. Debug information for these errors is also different. Is that because of mvl mod?

Also is it POSSIBLE to complete "Trial by fire"? The mission wasn't that difficult in original gta III and it was already discussed somewhere at the forums.

 

There is btw something wrong with spawning peds & vehicles around the city in general in this beta, I often drive in empty streets (with hardly 1-2 cars) no matter day or night it is.

 

.. so is there a tip to deal with "Trial by fire" without editing main.scm or anything?

It's easier with a pcj, but still quite difficult. I passed it without changing the code. Also if you just keep rotating while firing.
