This is really off-topic but I was getting a lot of complaints that my mod was not downloadable. And it turns out that ALL files at GTAGarage.com are f*cked up. Can someone contact the person in charge of GTAGarage?

Craig could probably shed some more certainty on this, but as far as I was aware, Hammer has no problem with any of his stuff being used for LC-related things. So you should be right to use the versioning module.

That's the whole point of the dll. Hammer wouldn't have realised it as an external file if he didn't want it being used by other people. Why should every programmer have to find out the offsets of all these exe's for himself? It's free to use for everyone, as it makes mods compatible to every known version of Vice City.

 

(At least that's how I interpreted Hammer's intentions.)

I've just posted a topic about it in the staff area, so hopefully someone should fix it up soon wink.gif.

 

EDIT - I've been told by illspirit that there's problem with some of the scripting after they changed a few things and it "should be sorted soonish" smile.gif.

As many of you probably noticed, my work with the LC mod has dropped to nearly zero in the last half year or so. Ben has been picking up my slack. In fact he's basically taken over all of the responsibilities of the Team Leader. So I shall formally offer the throne to him.

 

Even though I am stepping down as the leader, I don't plan on taking off. I will still be around to offer advice, remind others of what was done many years ago, and if I ever get motivated again, maybe even work on some files (that's a big if though). Since getting a full time computer job, it just isn't that much fun to spend another 5 hours a day trying to fix coding issues. It's much more fun to just play the games.

 

Ben has been doing a good job with the administration aspects of the mod. But he's still learning on ways to become a better modder, but he is not good at scm coding (which is what I did mostly). So if there are any scm coders out there, please help us out and fix the bugs that I either could not fix or did not have the drive to take care of. Other than that, I feel completely comfortable letting Ben take over (officially).

 

This mod will be finished one day. We've brought it too far to just let it die. And the great thing about this mod is no one person is too important. Many thought we would stop after PineCreek Skidz and killer.ip left or when Demarest stepped down. But the mod kept going because other people stepped up. Before I started getting involved in this mod, I barely knew how to insert other people's code into the original scm. If you want to learn more about the GTA games and how they work, this is an amazing way to learn. If you're willing to learn, there's many people still around (including me) who will help you with what you need to know.

You're most probably not using the latest version of LC. If you do, you're using a NoCD exe. These are not supported by LC.

 

Regarding bugs:

Thanks Craig smile.gif. There's no doubt you've brought this mod a VERY VERY LONG way since stepping up to the helm. As you said, I'm better with the administrative side as opposed to the actual physical modding, although my modding skills have developed a bit from when I first became involved with LC (at which time I couldn't mod AT ALL).

 

You'll definitely be a big loss, so I'll be doing some looking around to see if I can find a coder to replace you, but that'll be difficult. I need to do some recruiting for a couple of other aspects of the mod as well, actually.

 

Anyways, although this is only really a formality, it's still a pretty big step. As I told you over ICQ yesterday, I'll probably still ask for your advice/opinions on certain things until I feel completely comfortable that I'm on the right track to making the sort of mod Skidz, killer, Dem and you envisioned. Hopefully I'll be able to get a new major release out sometime over the next month or two (depending on what work people are doing atm).

Regarding the GTAG issue - it's been fixed now (if you haven't noticed).

 

Also, I'm working on a big update package which I should have up by Thursday afternoon (my time). It's big for two reasons - firstly, to accommodate all of space's updates to the IMG (I'm re-ordering the IMG into a few more specific categories than Craig had it), and secondly because all the stuff I had up on Y_Less's site is no longer available for download, so I need to get it all back online.

 

Again, apologies to those of you who can't download the latest files, but they will be available in about 48 hours smile.gif.

You don't have the latest version of LC (wait for Ben's package in 2 days) OR you don't use an 'official' version of gta-vc.exe. NoCD-exe's and the likes are not supported.

(This could become a new item for the FAQ. Besides, the 'What still needs to be fixed before GTA:LC is complete?' part isn't really up-to-date, is it? tounge.gif )

And you've posted at the wrong place. The said FAQ topic or the help topic would've been better places. smile.gif

 

 

Who is now actively working on an aspect of LC? (to use other terms: who's forming 'the team' at the moment?)

I've got an updated FAQ floating around on my PC somewhere. I'll have a look for it and update it at some stage icon14.gif.

 

As for the team, we'll gladly accept whoever we can get at this stage. So if you know someone who might be interested, don't hesitate to send them this way. It's just a bit of a lowpoint in terms of development at the moment - it's certainly not the first, and I doubt it'll be the last - we'll just bubble along as we always have. I am looking around for some people though smile.gif.

Sorry to see you go Craig, although I remember you considering it when I was still really around so it's not a huge shock, but you will be missed and you have been an awesome leader, easilly worthy of those before you IMHO.

 

Ben, those are some mighty big shoes to fill! I'm sure you'll do fine though, good luck with it. If you ever have any coding questions/problems give me a call (I don't tend to go on MSN/ICQ/AIM/YIM anymore but if you get on IRC leave a message in #Y_Less and I should get it), if I know of stuff to do I'll do it for you if I can smile.gif.

 

But yeah, I can't really think of anyone who would stand anywhere near as much of a chance at doing anywhere near the job Craig, Dem and Knux did as you. Well done mate.

This sucks. After waiting for around 5 hours to upload the latest LC package, GTAG gave me an error message saying that it "could not accept the file" confused.gif. I'll Rapidshare it and get Craig to host it at some stage. With any luck, it should be up by Monday.

Did anyone check whether the road gets wet inside the tunnel in GTA3 as I had asked? I'm not accusing space_einstein of anything, it just seems damn weird to me (I drove through a tunnel during rain several times in real life, and the road inside was always dry smile.gif ). Again, I'm sorry if it's supposed to be like that.

I'm downloading the file from Ben now. It should be live within 24-48 hours.

 

I'm not sure about this, but I would think the cull.ipl file should keep the roads dry. But since I haven't even played the mod since space updated that aspect, I can't say for sure.

 

Oh, and I have no complaints about rapidshare from me. I'm downloading at a steady 350 KB/s. All 80 MB should be done in about 5 minutes.

But if you'd like to go through and see if you can fix up the issue, feel free smile.gif. By the way, how'd your law exam(s) go?

I realize this is a bit of a big bump, but I could really use some help.

 

Just got LC installed (Lovin' it), messed around a lil', and then got the dreaded "Unhandeled Exception". Now, I would check my "gta-lc-scm.log", but there's a problem; it's not in my registery. Now, it is supposed to be in my registery, yes? Because the closet file I have to that is a GTA-LC configuration file. Now, something tells me I'm going to have missed it, but I really can't find it anywhere. To sum it up, it's your usual unhandeled exception. Now, does "Thread" mean "Reason, Cause, Ect"? Because I've crashed four times. Here's what it said for Thread each four.

 

1. Trains

2. Main

3. Noname

4. Noname

 

Now, I realize every map mod crashes after a while of playing, but I'm crashing every two minutes. Now, that's just plain unacceptable. It could be my computor, considering it's a refurbished Dell, but I'm hoping it's not. If it is, I'm getting a new computor in May though.

 

Another thing is, whenever I go into the small space infront of the elivator at the Stauton Island safehouse, I see a large spinning object. Thing is, it's so large I can't tell what the f*ck it is. From my perspective, it looks like a giant triangle. I could take a screen, or a vid if you'd like. I don't really mind that though, the object isn't solid, so it can't really affect my game in any way. The crashing is what I want to focus on, though.

 

EDIT: Turns out it was at the bottom (The directory is clogged with mp3 files for ingame sounds that I can't delete).

The log file is overwritten every time a new error report is saved, so there is only one error report at a time, i.e. the latest one.

The opcode says the crash had nothing to do with scm, but instead of pinpointing it (we don't know which updates you installed etc.) you should wait for the updated package that will be released very shortly.

Glad to hear your exam went fine. I've got all this to look forward to this year - I found out on Wednesday that I'll be doing Business at uni for the next 3 years. Still got to pick my electives, sort out my timetable, etc., etc. - you know how it is wink.gif. Good luck for your other exams too.

Edit by Craig: No we will not send you the exe as that's very much against the rules (and against Rockstar's wishes). Asking about it here (even via PM) is not allowed. You'll have to look somewhere else for it, or buy the game again.
