I get a no cd crash, but i can actually play GTA:VC, and just be4 i uninstalled it i could play GTA:LC. I just had a trojan and needed to uninstall all.

I'm just assuming this is what's happening:

You downloaded a No-CD Crack and tried to install GTA:LC using it. And GTA:VC works fine. And you got a trojan with the crack.

Karma's a bitch.

Anyways, GTA:LC only supports the exe Rockstar Games supplied you with. Try running LC with the original exe and post back.

just check it http://www.gtamods.de -> mods -> vice city-> page1-> mod no.3 . installlation is easy, extract the files from archive in your gta vc(gta lc mod) dir.

In fact, there are 100's of mods that are made for VC but work for LC.

If you know your file names you can easily convert any car mod for VC to work with LC.

v6 renamed all the files in the gta3.img so they matched those of the GTAIII game's gta3.img. I can't really think of any cars off the top of my head. But I think that VC's 'Voodoo' was replaced by LC's 'Yardie Lobo'. So if you found a car mod that replaces the Voodoo, for LC you'd simply rename the files to I think yardielobo.dff and yardielobo.txd (Those probably aren't the real GTAIII names). And delete the yardielobo.dff/.txd in the LC gta3.img. Then add the new ones you renamed or simply "replace" the old ones with the new ones. Did that make sense?

We could also get somebody to put a GTA:LC torrent up for download. It'd be one of the few legal torrents, lol. That's what I had to do with the Hitman Demo, I used a torrent. Not because I have Dial-Up but because I have wireless internet and it would disconnect randomly on it's own when the signal strength was too low.

 

I believe v1 or something had a torrent. Pretty silly with a file size as small as it was.

 

Another solution is to have a friend with broadband download it, then setup a private P2P so you can download it off of him. Though it would probably download pretty slow with 1 seeder.

I'd doubt it. If you're PC matches/exceeds the minimum/recommended requirements for VC, then you shouldn't have a problem running LC (a hardware related problem, I mean) .

Hmmm. No, I'm almost certain those are the latest files. Are you using ALL your ORIGINAL VC files?

 

If you are, then my only suggestion would be to download the v6test package again, or just wait til v7 - I'm hoping that we can get a LOT done for it, so it might still be a fair way off. Especially if MM's going to be back next week - it'd be great if he could get his menu hack done before v7, and I'm going to try and the SFX archive all but finalised (Craig and I are making good progress on that). So I'm thinking August at the earliest for v7, but we'll see .

 

 

Also, if you plan on compiling the scm, you'll need to tell your builder to look at the LC ide files instead of the Vice City ones. That's only a concern if you plan on modifying the scm yourself though

That's only if you plan on recompiling the MAIN.SCM file yourself. If you get the LC specific MB from here then you should be fine, as long as you point it to your LC directory. But that's a bit advanced - if you don't know how to, then I wouldn't suggest doing it. Go and read Craig's post again (where you took the quote from) for an easier alternative .

You either mean what GTA_Thomas said, in which case we can't help you, OR, you mean that you get the Insert CD Error, in which case you'll need to read the bottom of the first post of the FAQ topic to find your solution .

That's along the lines of what I was saying .

 

Basically, you can find the proper IMG name from looking in the default.ide file, and matching the ID# of which car you wish to replace on the updated Vehicles List . Tis easy now .

The problem with a dial-up user using a torrent is the sheer amount of information that is exchanged might slow the speed down more than usual - especially as bits of the file you've downloaded are uploaded off your PC to others whilst you're still downloading.

 

I'm fairly sure that v7 will have a torrent up .

 

And if you're going to get a friend to download it, why not get them to burn it onto CD for you? T'would be much easier .

I'm not sure exactly, but I thought that the SA Claude looked a fair bit different to GTA3 Claude . If that's the case, then I think that we'd stick with GTA3 Claude - the version you've got.

 

Besides, the work is already done on it, and using the SA Claude provides no benefits for converting prison Claude. But I'll be interested to see what you find .

No, no, I guess I didn't state it publically explicitly enough: I don't do stuff *for* GTA:LC. I'm working on my own mod. I'm only sharing the stuff from my mod that might be interesting for your project with you. You can have a look at it and if you don't think it fits, I have no problem with it not being part of LC.

 

Him looking younger sounds like it's a texture-based difference. Well, we'll see after I've managed to take a look at it (I'm currently busy checking out the .exe source code and learning abit assembler along the way).

The installer itself can be rarred up and split up. Not all the downloads have to be this way, just a few mirrors. The main downloads can be the whole installer.

 

Not all of the downloads have the be exactly the same. And it's always nice to have options.

By the way, I've compiled the stand-alone v6test3 and put it all together into an "installer" (self-extracting rar archive !). It's about 103MB, but I haven't tested it out yet. I'll hopefully get a chance to test it out after school tomorrow, and if all is well, then I'll probably upload it on Thursday (so it'll be online in the early hours of Thursday morning, American time). That'll hopefully fix a few problems for some people .

It works ! I need to make a few minor changes to the installation setup of it, but that won't take long. So by Thursday ye all should be able to play v6 without having to install v5 first .

 

EDIT - OK, I've made the changes and installation should now be a breeze (thanks to some very specific instructions !). The package is still around 103MB, and I'll upload it as soon as I can (which looks like being Thursday). I'll have more info then .

Excellent video CJ. Too bad it was limited to one minute though. There's a lot of cool things to see in Liberty City.
