Ok, that's better wink.gif. I deleted your other posts too for you icon14.gif.

Now I can't remember exactly what the deal is, but I know there's something about the 0001 wait command. Craig or Y_Less would have to tell you though what it all means, as they're the coding experts smile.gif.

But I don't think you're going to need to post anymore though, unless the Last Opcode Executed line changes from 0001 wait.

gochya. ill wait. in the mean time, could you email or pm them for me so they can come quicker?

EDIT by Ben - Well, you could PM them yourself, but it won't make much difference as they're both offline at the moment. They read each new post here, so they'll see it at some stage wink.gif. If I see them online, I'll mention it to them though smile.gif.

About the LC Crown Victoria NYPD car, it's not made specifically for LC, so just search around for the custom VC cars that have been made.

a crash at a wait basically means the problem may not lie in the scm. thats simply where the code paused when the crashg occured.

its very interesting that your crashes are at so many different addresses. i dont know enough about the exe to tell you what it means though.

and i can tell that youre not using the latest launcher - and possibly not the lateast files either. what version exactly did you download?

i have beta2 V6 test. i did download some other files. im not sure if they are the latest though.

here is the latest file package. its about 80 mb so if youre not on broadband you may not weant to download it. theres no installer for it, but if you simply replace all of the files, you should be up to date

that didn't help im still getting things like this

if there is no way to fix this that i should un install this and wait for the final. should I?

that still doesnt look right. did you download the package i just linked? because the new lancher - which should be part of that package - there is a line for your exe version. here's what my last crash report looked like.

It was clearly a double insane bonus as the quad flip at least once. And it might even be considered a perfect double since it landed on its wheels (even though I didn't) rah.gif

Glad things are okay, it's not something I would want happen to me. But by the sounds of it I definatly feel the ROFL factor of it (not to be taken as me being a jerk). Hope you get all healed up everything back to normal. That's quite the scar you got there monocle.gif .

Ok. This is what I think you should do. Getting your copy of LC up-to-date should fix your problem, unless you have a shonky VC.

First off, just delete your entire LC folder. Copy VC into a new folder and rename it to LC. Reinstall v5b (~102MB). Then grab yourself a copy of v6test3 (~80MB; like Craig linked you to), and extract the rar into your new LC folder, choosing Yes To All to overwrite relevant files.

Then, grab yourself a copy of the latest launcher (to be sure) from here (~450KB) and extract it into your main LC folder, choosing Yes To All to replace all relevant files.

Finally, get yourself the latest copy of the code from here (~1.3MB) and use the MAIN.SCM file included (not the one in the v5 folder) - replace the MAIN.SCM file in your LC\data folder.

That covers all your angles as far as installing goes. You say you don't have any mods for LC installed, your copy of VC that you installed LC over was unmodded, and the installation process went fine. So, after doing all of that, LC should work for you - that gives you the latest versions of all files, completely unmodded (which works for me and others, so it should work for you).

Let us know how it goes - good luck smile.gif.

@Alex - I'll check it out and add it to my To-Do-List for LC (of which testing your PED/Animation stuff is now at the top icon14.gif).

Just another thing for you to consider - do you think it's possible to alter the reload animations? I haven't looked into them too deeply yet, but when I was making a video of the GTA3 animations, I realised that Claude loads the shotgun in a different way to VC. But if the reloading animations are universal to weapon type, then this could cause problems - what do you think?

Ok, I've finished off that testing and uploaded some videos and notes for Alex to work off of.

The python may still need some work, but it would only be minor, if at all. Most of the other two-handed animations look good though - I doubt Alex is going to need to tweak them much.

Furthermore, the Claude model is looking very good - I'd say it's just about final, but I'll wait to see what Alex says.

Regarding the GTA3 fighting animations, I think we'll just stick with the VC ones. To me, the GTA3 ones look really out of place - Claude looks somewhat deformed doing them. It's not bad work by Alex, it's just that the movement itself doesn't look natural. Part of the reason I think is that the game-world is clearer in LC than in GTA3, so it really stands out in LC, whereas it seemed fine in GTA3. Again, however, I'll wait to see what Alex says.

Oh, and the question in the quote. smile.gif

Ok, I've been doing some thinking about the new installer - I think that if we can get it right with the next release, we can just use the same source for all future releases (with only some minor tweakage), rather than having to start again.

This is only minor, and shouldn't be too hard to implement. Carrying on a similar line to Craig's audio blanker, I want to try and tidy up the LC directory somewhat.

After a small amount of testing, I've discovered that the following can be removed with no effect on game-play (this is all just VC stuff that isn't applicable to LC):

Files:

data\maps\map0.dat

data\maps\map1.dat

data\maps\map2.dat

data\maps\map3.dat

data\maps\map4.dat

data\maps\map5.dat

data\maps\map6.dat

data\maps\map7.dat

data\maps\map8.dat

Folders (within each folder are the following 3 files which are to be removed also - xxx.col, xxx.ide and xxx.ipl, where xxx is the name of the folder. I'm assuming that if you remove the folder, the files inside will be gone too tounge.gif):

data\maps\airport

data\maps\airportN

data\maps\bank

data\maps\bar

data\maps\bridge

data\maps\cisland

data\maps\club

data\maps\concerth

data\maps\docks

data\maps\downtown

data\maps\downtows

data\maps\generic

data\maps\golf

data\maps\haiti

data\maps\haitiN

data\maps\hotel

data\maps\islandsf

data\maps\lawyers

data\maps\littleha

data\maps\mall

data\maps\mansion

data\maps\nbeach

data\maps\nbeachbt

data\maps\nbeachw

data\maps\oceandn

data\maps\oceandrv

data\maps\stadint

data\maps\starisl

data\maps\stripclb

data\maps\washintn

data\maps\washints

data\maps\yacht

If the installer can be written to remove those files from the directory the user chooses to install LC into, it will save space and make the LC directory neater (and easier to mod for less experienced people).

I'm going to look further into this over the coming weeks to see if there are other files which can be removed as well. For now though, I've added this to the first post.

Any thoughts, suggestions, etc.?

PS - Actually, before you dive in with thoughts, suggestions, etc., please make sure you've got v6test3, otherwise you'll find that a lot of unused VC files have already been removed (as I did wink.gif!).

The stripped scm doesn't go anywhere - you don't need it.

Did you do all that I mentioned above?

yes but i got a little confused on copying VC. do i really need two copys of it?

Link to comment

If you want to be able to play both VC and LC, yes. But I'd still recommend it anyway as it makes updating LC to a newer version easier - you don't have to reinstall VC.

It's pretty straight forward - you've got a VC directory (for example, C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA Vice City). Just select that GTA Vice City folder (or whatever it might be called in your case), and copy it. Then rename it to GTA Liberty City or something similar. Then follow my instructions above for getting the most up-to-date version wink.gif.

By the way, how did you alter the debug mode?

Link to comment

version 6 test has an "Enable Debug" click in config which you can turn on and off. you didn't know that?

Link to comment

No, I did. I was just checking whether or not you did it that way or the manual way of switching and renaming the scm files.

At least now you've gotten what seems to be an scm specific crash - Craig should be able to help you more now.

Although that doesn't explain why you're getting a crash and no-one else is confused.gif.

when i try to do it manualy i change the masterdebug=0 to =1 and then i press f7 and it says can't complete because it doesn't reconize sentXS. I can't beleve i never told you that.

Uh, you don't have to do it that way (there's a precompiled DBUG.scm which you can rename to MAIN.scm and stick in your LC\data folder here).

Have you actually installed v6? The model names were changed from the VC ones (as used in v5b) to the GTA3 ones in v6. It's as though your using v5b files with a v6 scm and launcher.

Are you sure you downloaded the v6test3 package and extracted it over your LC folder, choosing YES TO ALL to overwrite all relevant files?

i know they were changed. when i browsed the main scm the sentXS was being changed to mafia sentanal. it just didn't know what the sentanal XS was.

I wouldn't expect a new version of LC until July at the very earliest.

As I said in the checklist topic, the actual checklist for v6/v7 isn't completely accurate. However, with the things that we do release, we want to try and ensure that they are done correctly - especially the installer. If CTM can get a working installer script finalised, then we can just use it for future versions with only very minor tweakage required. The problem is actually getting to that stage where it is "final" (or very close) though.

Craig Kostelecky

Okay, I see a problem. I'm not sure how you created the problem. It appears you have a mix of some v5 files and some v6 files.

In version 5 and earlier, we used Vice City names for all of the cars and peds in the game. In version 6, we changed the names back to their original GTA3 names. The crash you got at 02e6 is the result of the scm calling one the old name when the new files exist. Since that file is not there, the game crashes.

Now, if you completely replace all of the files in your Liberty City folder with the ones from the v6t3 package, then download the latest launcher and scm updates like Ben linked you to earlier, you should have a working copy. With the v6 files, there should be no referrences to the sentxs anywhere.

Also, if you plan on compiling the scm, you'll need to tell your builder to look at the LC ide files instead of the Vice City ones. That's only a concern if you plan on modifying the scm yourself though.

EDIT: The cutscene crash you got was most likely caused by you either having the wrong scm in the data folder, the wrong cuts.img in the anim folder, or the wrong gta3.img in the models folder.

Yeah, you'll need the MB specifically customised for LC use - get it here (553.6KB) icon14.gif.

No, wrong.

I linked you to the latest files in this post. Craig can verify that. Again, to get your LC to work, download the latest files and install according to my instructions in that post.

Please don't post again here until you've done that.

Just a quick note: rereading a bit the weapons thread, I noticed that the reason the heavy flag wasn't used is that it prevents jumping. Personally, I think that keeping similar weapons in the same slot makes sense. It may not offer an advantage or greater authrenticiy but if one wants maximum authenticity, then nothing is better than playing GTA3 itself anyway. wink.gif

But then again it's not my mod, so it's not for me to decide. smile.gif

A more in-depth post will follow later this week.

Alex
