I didn't mean to be cryptic. I just haven't seen it in game yet. Although if it works as good as I think it will, I'll put it in there. I'm just not sure how access to it should be controlled in the official version. You'd think after making the Forellis angry, they wouldn't let you in their club any longer. Perhaps we can write a little script where (after passing Mike Lips Last Lunch and if you kill one or both Forellis in Joey's last mission) you can still enter, but several Mafia guys will try to kill you. That way, you could pretty much replicate St. Mark's Bistro from San Andreas anytime you wanted.

 

What do you guys think about that?

Sounds like a good idea to me, but when you leave for the second island (after killing Salvatore), doesn't the maffia get mad at you?

At least I couldn't drive through Saint Mark's without a tank then. So to me an extra script doesn't seem necessary as eventually they WILL get pissed at you.

 

But do as you like, it will be a great mod anyway around, and I have all confidence in you!

And to answer your original question - hopefully the v6 installer will have a manual and auto install, so you can choose. If you want to manually install v5b, check out the first post of the FAQ topic.

I think silver already had it scripted (actually, Y_Less did the scripting I think) so that you can't enter after completing Last Requests, which makes sense to me.

Yeah, I liked the idea (although I never got to use it). I'm not sure if anyone will recreate it though (I think that Luke's busy doing stuff for SA-MP), but there's some mods that people are trying to make which put Liberty and Vice and perhaps even SA together - check out the Mod Showroom for some.

Hey guys, I ditched my old host (too slow mysql db's). [LOL! Account suspended but file is still downloadable ]

 

Now In a few days I'll get myself a Yahoo Hosting with 5 gb space and 200gb/month transfer. Then it will take 3 more days to update all DNS servers in the world so that megavovan.com points to the IP of new hosting.

I'm not scared by 200gb/month, because in busiest months on old host traffic never went over 110 gb (and that's including my other transfers, not just GTA:LC). Also, since I don't think I'll use these 5 gb, I can host old versions of mod for stunters or ppl who have a problem with new version. If someone has archive of old releases, please let me know.

 

Samutz - ever heard of "leechers" ? All these small sites who steal your links. Users watch their banners and use your traffic, without even knowing YOU are generous enough to host a mod. So, I did this: the file is downloadable from my host only if the refferer is either blank or has gtaforums.com in it. If you wanna reduce your traffic usage, do this.

 

P.S. Let me know if anyone had bad experiences with Yahoo hosting.

What do you mean by "can't enter" ? Being attacked, or physically unable to enter (marker disapprears?) You can always use the back door...

IIRC, the marker disappears. I think that silver was looking into patching up the back door at some stage too, although he might have left it open so that you could get in if you really wanted to. I honestly can't remember all the specifics though - silver could clarify it.

Its exactly as you said, the maker (and the radar icon) dissappears from outside the front doors of the bistro...

 

The backyard, is like San Andreas.. its a boxed in area that can only be entered [without cheating] by going though the bistro.

Oringally in GTA3 the space was just a blank grass area that was inaccessable. But did have a ramp that allowed you to get back out onto the street if you got stuck in the area.

The ramp is still there in my mod which can be accessed by going behind the wall.

 

So in the end, if someone is playing LC without cheating like the jetpack, the only way into the bistro and to the backyard is though the bistros doors.

I watch my logs every month and havent had enough leechers to cause alarm. Besides I'm not shelling out several hundred dollars for LC alone. It's not my sole bandwidth usage. I have several other hosted sites and other hosted files for friends (all unrelated to gtaforums, except UnD, and I'm not talking about the other 3 listed on my main page either).

Putting Vice and Liberty City together is a project best left to the San Andreas engine. Yeah, we've all learned a lot about bypassing the Vice City limits. But everything would work so much smoother in the newer engine.

Yes you can. Or put an ambulance to the wall and jump on top of it. Or put a Packer there and do a little stunt. I like it that way, because you have a way of entering without having to edit the scm.

I actually contacted him about it about 2 months ago but seem to have lost all the PMs, which isn't like me. And he said the code wasn't very good (especially as to hide the switch he put a big black rectangle over the desktop), but I agree the idea was good.

 

And he doesn't have it anymore either so I don't know where you're likely to find it now.

I only once ran out of bandwidth for LC, do I just transferred my hosting to ftp which doesn't count for bandwidth usage for some reason.

Yeah - I'd say it's just something random with your friend's PC. People can run LC on 98 and 2000 and ME without problems, so I won't worry about adding that to the FAQ. Thanks for the heads up though

I have been messing around more with the menu. It's not exactly GTAIII yet, but it's getting there. Shouldn't be too much longer before the menu will look almost exactly like GTAIII, that's inlcuding the changes of the background in certain parts of the menu.

Well on my old PC i had Service Pack 2 and LC installed with no problem.

But on my new PC i have SP1 (Gaming Rig, did not need the extra programs) and I have to manually install in everytime.

are you 100% postive on that? i havent had the bistro installed for a long time. maybe it wasnt that wall specific that i jumped with the ambulance. now that i think about it, it could have been anything. so is there an invisable roof on the backyard or someting, because otherwise you could fly a helicopter and land back there.
