You need to see if you can get mods/admins to stick a nice big pop-up on the forum so people can't miss it!

could you by any chance document some of the hex codes you found?  im trying to make a .dll or something similar to edit specific things. you have covered them all in here.

here are some im looking for

*Ammo text colour (under the weap icon)

*Vehicle/Area text colour (the text that appears when you enter a car with the name of it, and locatoin)

*Loading bar colour

*Radar blip colour (if oyu have it)

*Straightening out Vehicle/Area text

and although i think these are multiple opcodes, and im not really worried about them, if possible could you give the menu text colour and highlight colour

sorry if this is a lot to ask but i cant tell with your source and the memory address topic is too long and disorganised to go through.  if you cant or dont have time please just say and ill go thru the mem add topic instead of waiting for a reply

thanks

It's all commented in source, files GTAMemory.pas and uLCLaunch.pas

I finally got a hold of GTA:LC, and 5% of the bar filled, game crashes. I got all of the updates, newest .SCM, and still no luck. I just installed it over a fresh copy of VC, and crashes still occur.

The radio bug has been fixed (thanks Hammer!) and a new version of the v5 installer will be made avialable in the near future. cool.gif

Yes both files do exsist on my GTA3 Play Disc.

Okay, I think I've squashed the bug now. The fix is part of the installer for the fixed Test 5 release, which Craig has decided to call "Test 5b".

Off the top of my head, here are some things that have been fixed in 5b (that I can recall):

  • Installer Core v1.1 - fixed GTA3 Play CD recognition bug; link to configuration program now added to install directory; unnecessary audio files removed during setup to save hard drive space
  • Fixed *that* radio station bug colgate.gif
  • GTA:LC intro movie added
  • Mission script updates (see Mission Script thread for further details)
  • Outro screen updated

I'll wait for Craig to officially announce the installer/update package releases though, it should be another few hours. I've been testing 5b for an hour or so and there haven't been any crashes at all so far - it's brilliant! colgate.gif

I might as well announce it as official. The v5b installer will completely change your copy of Vice City (or an older copy of LC) to the most up-to-date version of Liberty City (as of now of course). If you have the GTA3 CD, all of the audio works correctly right out of the box. You don't have to do any more silly ini replacements to get this thing running.

Also, if you downloaded the v5 installer before but don't want to do another 100 MB file transfer to get the radio stations working, you can instead download a few files to update your v5a copy.

As of right now, the links for these are avialable only through a bit torrent client. But that will change very shortly. I will be uploading both of these files to our usual hosts so everybody can download this installer (or the update).

You can get the torrent links here. The first post of this thread and the links will be updated when the uploads are finished.

Please let us know if there are any issues as this mod should work. The only exception would be if you're using a foreign gta-vc.exe (like the Australian or the German versions)

Unpinned and locked as a new version of this thread is found here.

DIRECTIONS FOR INSTALLING THE MOD

The first thing you want to do is make a new copy of Vice City. If you have any previous versions of LC installed, then this step is most likely done. But if this is your first time installing this, you should copy the entire Vice City directory and rename it to Liberty City. If you do not do this step then you will not be able to play Vice City without having to reinstall it. Also, you may have to have a full install of Vice City (all radio stations on the hard drive) for this mod to work.

Once that's done, run the GTA:LC installer. If you have the GTA3 Play CD get that ready as some audio files will be copied to your LC folder. If you do not have the GTA3 CD, a minimal set of audio files are included in the download package. If you install audio, the process takes about 10-15 minutes to finish.

After the mod is installed, run the gta-lc.exe file to begin the game.

KNOWN ISSUES

This mod currently will not work if your gta-vc.exe file is from the German or Australian versions.

There are bugs in a few missions yet (Sayonara Salvatore is most obvious and Bullion Run is completely skipped right now)

Not all of the peds are converted and some of the converted peds are in progress versions.

Please let us know if you have any problems. Just remember to be specific when describing your issue. It's easy to fix the problem if we know more information.

Alrighty then, the much anticipated re-release of the old classics! That's right - you can now get each version of GTA:LC to muck around with (see the notes for the specifics of each version). Enjoy - thanks heaps to MegaVovaN for hosting these smile.gif.

I have a problem with the Installer. It just gets stuck in "Decompressing the files" or something... I tried disabling my antivirus software and it still doesn't work... confused.gif

Yeah, the installer's UI is very slow; just wait and it will finish installing.

Though I had to run the setup program twice to finish installing.

Each time that I've run the setup with installing the audio files it took at least 10 minutes (and maybe even as long as 20). But it did finish every time. If it's held up for a half hour (or longer) then there may be an issue. Is your GTA3 CD scratched at all? I don't know if that's the issue or not though. Can you think of anything in your setup that is possibly different from the majority of the other setups?

Do we have to re-download v5b if we already got v5? I wouldn't mind normally if there was a patch but it took 10 hours to download v5 with my modem.

Either way it's cool, just wondering if there was an update available.

There is an update available (only 880 KB) to update from v5a to fix the radio glitch. You can find the update link in the torrents section or here.

I left the setup running and then got down to the kitchen to have dinner... I got back 45 minutes later and it was still stuck in "decompressing files"... confused.gif

My GTA3 CD is fine, not scratched at all. The only thing that would be different on my system would be the OS language (Spanish) but that's it.

Craig, I haven’t downloaded it yet. I see there is a problem with decompressing. Downloading would take me a few days.

It there a link to the last version but not installer, just .rar as before. So I can be sure it will not freeze and my downloading won’t be in vain.

Maybe I can choose the option to install without audio files and then copy them manually from gta3 CD. Perhaps in this case it won't freeze during decompressing. What do you think?

By the way. Someone asked about possible version of Liberty City made of San Andreas engine. I can't see the sense. Your creation looks better.

I have the same problem - the installer is getting stuck at the decompressing stage.

It has been using 95%+ of my cpu for an hour and a half now.
