i got my copy of beta2 v4 from your ftp site. when i click on samutz's mirror link it opens a new browser with just a lot of sh*t that doesnt mean anythign and freezes my computer and i have to end firefox. when i click on MegaVovaN's mirror link it just brings me up to an error page saying

Account suspended due to negative balance or TOS infringement. Account owner may contact support department for future information.
. and the torrent just doesnt connect or just no one seeds it.

I received a lot of requests for the v5 test with the installer. While I'm uncomfortable releasing it at this time due to the radio bug, I will make the link publically available. Just be aware that this isn't the final v5. There are still some bugs in it. The most obvious one is that the GTA3 radio stations will not work if you have the standard gta-vc.exe. Hopefully we can fix that, otherwise there will only be VC radio. If try to install the radio stations and you have issues, then open up your gta-lc.ini file (with notepad) and replace everything with this information:

Also, this version will only be available through bit torrent. It will not be uploaded anywhere. So if you want it that badly, then you will need a torrent client to download it. I personally use Azureus. The final version of v5 will be uploaded and available in a traditional rar package.

 

That being said, if you want to download the test version of v5 with the beta installer, here is the link to the torrent page. It's just under 100 MB and another version may be available in the not too distant future. The torrent link on the first page has also been updated to this one.

 

Feedback (especially about the installer) would be appreciated.

V5 gives me ramdom errors at random times. Most of them are about the trains. Is there anyway to fix this?

I have downloaded the Azureus program and downloaded the beta 2 test 5 from your website and then downloaded it from Azureus which took about 2 Hours and then opened it up and ran the program and then I answer the questions until it asked me if I wanted to install the GTA3 sound files by putting in the GTA3 Play CD, so I put in the GTA3 Play CD and checked the box below and selected Drive E where it says GTA3_audio(E:) but it will not let me choose it and then I clicked GTA3_audio(E:) and clicked audio and it still would not let me so i justed skipped it and went to downloading it but downloaded a little past the word OVERALL and broke down and I tried again but it broke down again. Can you please help me out.

 

P.S. when does the .rar "Beta 2 Test 5" come out

I installed the v5 beta and while it was installing I got this error:

 

audimp.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close, etc.

 

It continued to install okay, and I got the radio stations and cutscene audio working, but there were no ingame sounds. I tried editing the gta_lc.ini with the above but to no avail. When I tried installing without the GTA3 audio the sounds were there. Am I doing something wrong?

Trying to install the V5 bit torrent is a pain in the but. the GTA3 radio stations don't work and the installing the V5 download totally freezes at about 25% and trying to close this window says it is doing something and cannot be closed at this time. any advice

I've said multiple times that the radio stations do not work with this download. I told you that before you started downloading it. Replacing the ini file should give you working VC radio stations.

This release is very good, and I like a lot the installer, Craig.

Only two things: I have gtaIII radio stations without modificate the *.ini file you said in the precedent post, no problem about this. But I have ingame radio station names as in Vice City, so I read Wildstyle, Rock FM and so. How I can modificate these?

And, when I change radio station, I hear a double click. The original sound is performed when I press the button and when compare the new station.

 

However, I love your job. I Love LC Team! biggrin.gif

For some reason, when I play, sometimes the polygons strech, causing the game to get error, like what I said earlier. It happened to cars and guns. One time, though, they turned my car into a truck. blink.gif

I was going to add GTA3-style intros with the installer but it'd be overkill and it'd bump up the size of the download too much.

Hey i know this was posted a while ago, but i think it would be good if gta3 style intros were added to make the game feel more complete. However, i think craig said a while back that the first intro movie (when you start a new game) perhaps couldn't be fixed because it was part of the exe and not a separate movie. Besides, aren't all of the other movies all the same as gta3, except for the buggy heads, etc.?

 

Also, (i think i posted something similar to this a while ago, but i can't remember so i'll post it now anyway), after all of the bugs are worked out of the missions and the installer is working fine, is work going to be started on the interiors for some of the buildings to improve the game and get the most out of the VC engine, or will this only be available as unofficial mods?

 

The size of the download won't really matter - if it increases to 200 or 300MB (don't know if it will) or even more, im not too worried - high speed internet is so readily available that even if you're stuck on 56k (like me!) someone you know could download it - it's not like the size of the file is going to increase to 1GB. Anyway, that's just a thought, let me know what you think.

This question might be better aimed at Diamond Joe Quimby as he lifted the appropriate Xbox textures, but would there be any mileage in using/is it possible to use port any of the San An textures into LC, such as for the roads etc, to further improve appearence?

 

And tux.coder - I've taken a look at your Vice XXL thread, and that looks really cool. I'll do a fresh VC install later and check it out, but from the thread alone, I'd have to say converting it to LC would be a great idea!

Unforuatley, LC in SA is actual literary just a copy and paste of LC from GTA3,

 

there is no differance in texture quaility, only the snow added. thats all

i do not know if LC stretches as far out to The Sex Club 7 as we saw in the Introdection DVD

 

i have pulled a few files out of the gta3.img, lib_street01.dff all the way to lib_street16.dff

although those files are the bistro itself, and a few buildings, the station, the tracks, and snow mounds, A large portion of the Un used LC is still in the gta3.img that i have yet to find

 

if anyone can shout out some names from gta3 of some of the files used around the Bistros area and the sex club 7 area, perhaps i can look for them, although i dont know if they have been reanamed or not

 

and there is one problem with the bistro.............

as seen there, i have put the upper balcony, lower bar, and kitchen of the SA interior with the SA snow covered Bistro from SA,

however, the cement hallway connecting the lower bar interior to the kitchen is MIA,

 

of coarse this is a important part of the interior, but i cant seem to find it, there is one file called "bistro_blok.dff" and im sure its it, but when i do my little trick that steve M found to get it into zmodeler it dosent work, zmodeler crashes, i know the method dosent work for all models (like player models or cars) soo.... looks like im stuck again

The road textures could be changed if you wanted. Same goes for the sidewalks, grass etc. I haven't found too many textures that are higher quality, and are like a texture found in III. Grass in San Andreas looks a lot different than grass did in III. For example, those yellow traffic lights in SA have the same quality textures of the traffic lights in III. Finding better textures will be easier once a MapEditor or Steve's MapViewer comes out and things are easier to see.

Nice Marco's Bistro interior and Francis International Airport interior silver007. Looks really sweet and the snow is even cooler but is there a way to use that same snow texture that will be in the Bistro exterior and just copy it to all of the rooftops, sidewalks, trees, grass, portland railroad, and all of the rest of Liberty City that is not the car roads and waters and interior areas by using the same snow texture in Marco's Bistro. Oh yeah and also R* did use the SA car roads to replace the GTA3 road on the Saint Marks road in GTA:SA.

Jack, you have VC radio stations displayed in the gxt? I didn't change that (did you CTM?)

 

And Nathan, the rar of the v5 will not be released until the radio bug is fixed (or the radio is left as it was in VC)

Alright, for anyone who wants to get past Sayanora Salvatore without installing a patch past the V4 one heres what you do, download Vice City Ultimate Trainer and use the jetpack to fly into luigis hallway past where you are usually allowed to, what I mean is use the jetpacks clipping and go inside the hallway that is usually physically impossible to go into, wait until the time reaches the designated mission where salvatore leaves, then run out the doorway and you will se a mafia guy spawned, kill them quickly until salvatore spawns and viola!

 

mission complete

You could also shoot out the tires of the Mafia Sentinels. That makes it easier to catch Salvatore on the way back to his place.

It's been a while since I've updated my LC! Anyway, I am having a problem with v4. When I try to start a new game, the game shuts off right as it begins to load. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

You mean Craig that if the Marco's Bistro interior(SA+VC) and Francis International Airport interior is done they can be in the offical GTA:LC beta 2 test 5 version? SWEET!!! were all counting on you silver007.

I would love to see the Marco's Bistro interior included officially in the LC Mod since it kind of adds to the LC atmosphere.
