I would have thought that it would be considered a unofficial mod for LC because it is afterall the xbox gta3 wheels for vice city. Please correct me if I am wrong. If I am then, sorry.

Right now you can't. Me, Hammer, and Patrick have all looked at the code and we can't figure out why yet. Hopefully it will work in the near future though.

 

EDIT: Me and Hammer found the bug (almost at the exact same time as well). And it was a dumb mistake on my part. I forgot to increase the z coordinates of the trap by 6 units. Now you can pass this mission:

Erm, guys...

I've got prob here with the Beta2 confused.gif

The prob is that I install it on a totally UNmodified Vice, copy audio from GTA3 into audioLC, execute the launcher, specify the path to gta-vc.exe and... It wants me to insert the CD!!! Ok, it could've not been a problem, but... Even when I insert my play-CD, the game STILL wants the CD. Later I've tried to replace gta-vc.exe with a No-CD .exe. It STILL wants the CD!!! I figure the problem is not in my No-CD, but in gta-lc.exe (launcher) confused.gif

Any suggestions on how to fix this??? confused.gif

 

P.S. Sorry if I've posted in the wrong topic.

Guess what? Another pedestrian needs to be converted for a specific mission, this one's b_man3 (WMOGO) for "Marked Man," they're the CIA agents that Ray mentions. Once this mission is converted, I'm going to go on the PCJ-600 and be shot by the CIA agents with M-16's and see if I can survive. It's rather easy to bypass them with the Rhino. I also think b_man3 is also used for "Two-Faced Tanner," if I remember correctly, for Tanner himself.

 

How do I know this? Investigating the .scm for GTAIII, and I also played Marked Man just a few minutes ago. Time for bed, and some updates on not converted pedestrians used in storyline missions later.

I have the newest download of the beta 2 files from craig and noticed that the m16 and ak47 sound like the weapons they replaced (m4 & mp5) so I used lithjoe's audio tool and with spaceeinstein's guide replaced the second entry's for the m4 sfx00074-75 with the m16 sfx files from 3, sfx00069-70, then I replaced the mp5 sfx's sfx00090-91 with the AK47 Sfx's sfx00071-72. , now the M16 sounds authentic ingame as well as the AK47, space can you add this change to your next sound release? in additions to any other improvements you've made already.

Your post sounded like you wanted a mod for the xbox version of GTA 3.

barring in mind this isn't the newest unrelease mission scm (the one with big and veiny working is forthcoming) I played TONI CIPRIANI: "SALVATORE'S CALLED A MEETING" and I noticed a second limo outside during the cutscene, and when the limo with joey in it drives out it's there plus there's a purple dot from inside where I assume joey should be, ok so I drive to luigi's and the cutscene hit's luigi tries to walk over to the car but his right leg is not moving while the foot is so it makes the middle of his leg disappear he hits a pole ok I wait 30 seconds ok he's in the car, ok cutscene fades pop's luigi on top of the car standing there and the limo is now stuck in the wall at the entrace for luigi's missions, I kill luigi and exit to desktop since this mission like this is unpassable.

 

as for rewards, the idea here is to be as GTA 3 as possible while adding VC's features. so I would argue we should make the reward for achieving 100% in LC the same as VC (250 health & armour, inf ammo, double damage in cars) + the cash reward from 3, that way we'll all feel satisfied for completing it (leave out the I completed vice city and all I got was this lousy t shirt tshirt) or someone could edit it to say I completed liberty city and all I got was this lousy t shirt. there you go I like it that way. it's easier to keep in the rewards (inf sprint for level ten paramedics, fireproof for level ten firemissions, jump for level ten taxi missions) Craig I hope you agree this is a good reward for completing things and there's no reason it can't be offcial, it'd just be considered part of making 3 a more rewarding experiance.

 

on another note craig's delorean is invaluable to collision testing so it's needed for the time being, and I do agree the spawn codes should all be removed from the final product.

Do you know which version of the vc.exe file you have - some of the foreign ones have different offsets and this problem has been encountered before.

Vice City's rewards is like adding clothes pickups around the city. I didn't even want a Packer in LC but meh.

Craig's DeLorean is just a dumb Sparrow. There's nothing special about it since there's a lot of other helis around the city.

Fixed it! biggrin.gif

I started by making another col for the train with less polys, tryed that out and it still didn't work. So I added a bunch of collision shpere's to help it out, still no luck. So I dug throught the img and you know what I found? Another col file called train.col. Once that was deleted it worked like a charm. The train is solid now to the player, the player in a car, but not solid if you leave your car on the tracks. I still haven't figured that one out yet.

And I haven't fixed the subway offset, but I'll work on that now.

Oh, and I'd just like to thank you guys and everyone else who has worked on this mod. It really looks good and I can tell everyone put a ton of work into it. Thanks for letting me help the project along.

 

EDIT,

Never mind about my col. file. If you want to use it thats fine, but I don't think it makes any differance. Just delete the file in the img.

A few problems I found,

If you hit the train to hard in a car it might cause the game to lock up.

If you hit the train (seems random) the train will "break" apart. It will start shutterin up and down like a flicker with the body and doors going all over the place.

Sometimes after hitting it it will lock up in one spot on the tracks and do the shutter thing.

Also when you hit it some times it will send you kartwheeling across the map on fire.

Funky stuff.

 

I would also fix the subway offset, but for some reason the train isn't there in my game.

Hey, thats great work, I can't believe the problem was so simple!

 

Alot of those problems were there either originally in LC of GTA 3, I doubt its to do with your collision fix - I'm sure this will be put in a release pretty quickly.

In the last audio update (version 5) the weapons all had their proper sounds. However I had that file hosted on Dalpura's website (which was removed before I could get everything off of it). I've looked on my other hosts and I don't see that file anywhere. If anyone still has the zip for the audio update (version 5) could you send it to me so I can reupload it?

But when I sorted it in order of extensions, I saw that there were dozens of my personal files (including some email files) inside the image. I used to dream about pretty girls, not I'm dreaming about video game code. What has my life come to? suicidal.gif

Space, do you know what that weapon is supposed to be? I probably forgot to request the model. And I'll take a good look at that gate issue as I remember getting that myself (and completely forgot about it).

 

I'll also look at Cutting the Grass (after I finish boning the fireman!)

Wow so simple to fix thanks. Funny how I never thought of that being the reason after numerous uses of simple cols etc. The subway should hve been solid though from what you are saying but I never made it to the subway as it kept locking up. Thanks again great work now that this is unstumped maybe I'll get back into this project. I can start by reworking the offset on the subway.

 

A key is stuck sorry.

A lot of solutions to LC problems are very simple (see BAIT for another example), that's why they are so hard to find. Great detective work, chickenplucker!
