So no help with the random shut down/crashing of the game when I try to start a game?

So that solves the audio problem. But what about the whole thing just shutting down when I start a game? Will the audio transfer fix that too?

EDIT: Okay, I copied the files from the "Audio" folder in my GTA 3 folder, and put them under "audioLC", is that what you meant to do? If it is, the audio menu still doesn't work, and the game still crashes.

I think they go in the audio folder, not audioLC.

And so long as it's missing those files, the game will still crash.

A little thing I have seen.

In gtaIII when you start a New Game and came down from the Callahan Bridge, you can see 2 Police Cars, but those came out from Trenton, and not from Chinatown as in the mod. wink.gif

Yeah.. Still crashes. There's no error message or anything, it just closes and I'm right back at my desktop.

@DarkGTA: You need to repeat that process of verifying the paths until it says all files are okay.

@poohead: The General Lee mod will not change. In fact it will be removed from the final version and only offered as a seperate download.

@JackMagic: That's because when the cars spawned in their original location, they drove down the wrong side of the bridge. So I created them over towards Chinatown and it looks almost identical. I'm actually surprised you noticed that.

@Dirk Temporo: I don't know what to tell you. If the verify paths button tells you all of the files are there, then it should work. Hopefully we can figure out this issue soon as other people are having problems as well.

You're missing the Visual Basic runtime files. You can find what you need in the GUIDE TO INSTALLING GTA:LC thread.

I downloaded the Visual thingy, but i still have that error, why is that so?

The common dialog control isn't included in the Visual Basic runtimes afaik, there's another link to the common dialog control in the guide topic isn't there?

Failing that, why don't you just do the manual install, pretty easy.

adam broke it.

Hi,

first I want to thank the Developers here for their great work with GTA:LC.

Playing GTA3 is a while ago. So i don't remember this good, how the Missions and Characters are named, but I recognize the missions.

I'm getting the Exception at 0x004BB1C2, too.

I logged all Information I got from the Debugging-Messages.

First I got the Error only sometimes, but when playing the Mission of "D" where you have to run away from the Cops with the "armored car" in Shoreside, I don't have a chance to end this mission because the Exception comes first.

If it helps, I could post my errormessages somewhere and put a link here.

Don't know if this is an Error, but with the same Savegame I can't play the next Kasino-mission. Nothing happens when i walk into the blue circle.

The Coordinates for the taxi missions have to be fixed. In Portland i had to bring a passenger into a building. If i remember right, the coordinates where to put passengers are relatively fixed. Aren't it ever the same places?

The (Ticker?) doesnt work. I hear the sound, but I don't see the messages.

The reason for this could be, that i'm using the german language and not english. Perhaps this is the reasing for the misnaming of the Savegame-Files, too.

If someone could brief me, I would try to patch the german.gxt like the american.gxt was patched.

After saving in my garage in Staunton some Cars are missing. There have been 4 Cars in the garage. Now only 2 are left. Did you fix the Bug of GTA3?

Afaik they are not missing immidiatly, but after a few times of saving.

When playing the mission with the homicidal maniacs at the parking place near "D", the homicidal maniacs run through walls if i for example run out through the car entrance.

Sorry for my bad english. Hope my post helps.

Four cars? Wtf? That garage aren't meant to save four cars! And peds going through walls are one of Rockstar's unfixable problem.

Try reinstalling Vice City and then install Liberty City. All you need to do to install is to copy and paste to the right folder.

Ooh... That might be the problem... Stupid question: What's a "verify paths" button, and where can I find it?

Yay! I fixed it. Go me. I never read the Readme. But now there's a different problem. All the sounds are wrong. I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but it's happening to me. Examples:

When I punch a person, I hear the sound of me hitting a car with my fist or a weapon. When I pick something up, I hear the sound of a car engine revving up. When I shoot a gun, it's the sound of me punching someone. When a bullet hits a person, it makes the sound of raining.

And there's a perpetual high pitched, repeating noise when I'm near either a car or a person.

GTA: LC Paths.ipl v1.2

-Cars won't U-turn in the west Portland road

-Combined more car paths (for Portland only)

-Added roadblocks (to Portland only)

-Prevented most peds and cars from spawning in the wrong places

About the U-turn thing not being GTA3, I did that so cars can actually turn to secondary roads. I am horrbile in making 1-way streets.

GTA: LC Audio v5

It is the largest file I've ever released for LC. It should replace most of the basic sounds around LC so it will sound more GTA3ish.

Edit by Craig: Link updated to LC's host.

You need two programs to convert. Convert WAV to MP3. Then convert MP3 to ADF. I think that was in the ReadMe.

0=AUDIOLC\HEAD.ADF

1=AUDIOLC\CLASS.ADF

2=AUDIOLC\KJAH.ADF

3=AUDIOLC\RISE.ADF

4=AUDIOLC\LIPS.ADF

5=AUDIOLC\GAME.ADF

6=AUDIOLC\MSX.ADF

7=AUDIOLC\FLASH.ADF

8=AUDIOLC\CHAT.ADF

or

0=AUDIOLC\HEAD.WAV

1=AUDIOLC\CLASS.WAV

2=AUDIOLC\KJAH.WAV

3=AUDIOLC\RISE.WAV

4=AUDIOLC\LIPS.WAV

5=AUDIOLC\GAME.WAV

6=AUDIOLC\MSX.WAV

7=AUDIOLC\FLASH.WAV

8=AUDIOLC\CHAT.WAV

You don't need to convert the radio files to adf anymore. But you do need to make sure that the path defined in the gta-lc.ini file points to the actual radio file.

For example, let's say you just copy the head.wav file from your GTA3 CD to the audioLC folder. If you do that, then you want to make sure that the entry in you gta-lc.ini file points to audioLC\head.wav.

But if you wanted to save space, then you could convert it to an mp3 (which is the same size as an adf file). Then you'll want to make sure that the first radio station points to audioLC\head.mp3.

And finally, if want to have the original Vice City radio stations (or if you already converted the GTA3 radio stations the old way and you're using a no-cd crack) then you would just leave the ini settings alone. BUT if you do that, you must make sure that all of the Vice City radio files exist in the audio (not audioLC) folder.

And finally, using the launcher's interface is much easier and more error free. There are two ways you can get there. First you can add -showconfig as a command line parameter to the gta-lc.exe file. If you don't know what that means, click on the "Show Config" shortcut and that should do it for you. If that doesn't work, then you can get to the launcher's interface by adding a line to the gta-lc.ini file. When you open up the gta-lc.ini file in Notepad, the first few lines look like this:

[Exe]Path=.\gta-vc.exeVersion=10ChangeTaskBar=0[WavePath]597=AUDIOLC\MF1_A.WAV598=AUDIOLC\MF4_A.WAV

To get to the launcher, simply change that part to this:

[Exe]Path=.\gta-vc.exeVersion=10ChangeTaskBar=0showconfig=1[WavePath]597=AUDIOLC\MF1_A.WAV598=AUDIOLC\MF4_A.WAV

Then the next time that you run the gta-lc.exe file the launcher's interface will appear. Click on the advanced button and you'll be in.

To make sure your audio is okay, go into the launcher's interface and click on the audio tab. You'll then see all of the audio paths that are defined in the exe. All of these paths must exist for the game to run properly. Clicking on the "Verify paths" button will check to see if each file exists in the proper location. If the dialog box does not say "All files are valid." Then the game will crash during load up.
