It flew just like the wingless dodo before it. But the handling isn't used as the code pushes it along it's path. If we were to change that code so it uses the path file (GTA3 used flight4.dat) it would clean up the scm a lot. But the plane should be destroyable (which I'm not sure if it is by using the wanderer code)

Before I wrote that code, I tried using an spath.dat file to fly the plane. But if anything gets in the way, if the plane gets shot at, or if the plane is interrupted in any shape, form, or fashion, it'll get f*cked up and you cant pass the mission. I felt that using a vehicle would be better because the user can pass the mission with the wanted stars without worrying about the plane getting hit by the police heli, shot at by the predator boat, or any stupid sh*t like that.

Well, I can guess it's been difficult on everybody who's been waiting for the beta 2 files. After all, we've been saying "it's close" since September. But things haven't gone as quickly as we'd like and the mod is still not ready for a major release. Plus, I'm going through a really tough time with my personal life right now, so I don't know how much time I can dedicate to this in the near future. All of those factors have led me to make a decision to publically release the test files.

 

This rar file (79.1 MB) is (almost) everything that's required to change your copy of VC or LC to my version of GTA:LC. Simply extract the rar file to the directory you're using for LC. The reason I said almost is there's one thing you need to provide for yourself. This mod will not run unless you populate the AudioLC folder with the audio files from the GTA3 CD. Simply copy everything that's in the audio folder of the GTA3 Play CD to the AudioLC folder and you should be good to go. If you don't have the GTA3 CD (you pirate tounge2.gif ) You can download the minimum amount of wave files required. Directions for that download are in the readme included in the beta 2 files.

 

Please note that this is not the final version. There are still bugs in some missions. And some peds are nowhere near their final state.

Great! Downloading now, good works guys hope it's all good. Been wating for this release for a month now.

 

 

Edit: Got a few bugs, in the first cut scene where they rob the bank, after they have robed the bank in GTA3, the camara then follows the cars to the bridge, then they blow the bridge up. Well in this mod the camara acts as if they are following them, but tere are no cars there at all. Also the people in the cars when the ythrow the bomb out, are not carrying guns, look.

Reply from Craig: There is an issue getting the cars to follow a path in the cutscene. We may not be able to fully simulate that. We should be able to get the guns in the Colombians hands though.

That package doesn't have the latest outro.txd, you can get it here.

(Extract to the txd directory).

Thanks, will start a new game just to test it. Just found another bug.

 

The only missions I have done are Lugi's I have done no other missions. The last mission I completed was 'The fuzz ball' and now when I walk into the marker of Lugi's it does nothing.

 

 

EDIT - Just tried the file you said, but still there are no cars in the cut scene when they are in gonig over the bridge or before that.

 

EDIT 2 - There is no blockade when on the calahan bridge when it is destroyed, I can just go straight up and see the damage.

As you see, the door's tranparent, it can be seen through..

 

When saving the game, the save screen where it says "saving the game, please wait', the font color is VC's pink.

 

Reply from Craig: That transparent issue has been fixed by Diamond Joe Quimby. And we're working on getting the pink text out of there. But I can't guarantee that we'll be able to remove all of it.

The train is VERY hard to get off and on, you press enter, then when it stops you press enter again and he jusr runs forwards and get's stuck, you then can't get off, you can't kill your self. You have to reload.

 

Reply from Craig: There are several issues with the trains right now. They may even be disabled for the final beta 2. This issue has been very difficult to accurately port over to the new engine.

first of all, thank you craig and the rest of gtalc team for sharing these files with us. i've noticed a few things as well. some skins are still vice city ones(i think thats a known issue). The misty skin is 100% white( i guess a txd file is wrong). the indicator thats above a car in the 1st mission with 8 ball is still pink. i've also noticed that some skins are still buggy(known issue too i guess), for example Luigi has a strange neck. Another thing i've noticed, in cutscenes, the mouths of the mission providers (like luigi and 8 ball) arent moving. Dont know if this is a bug: when you enter the blue marker for luigi's missions, right after you've finished the 1st mission with 8 ball, the 1st luigi mission wont load, but when you enter the marker after a few seconds the mission will load. also in the 1st mission, when you and 8 ball visit luigi's club, in the cutscene : 8 ball is walking to the club, but Fido is standing still next to the car.

 

Reply from Craig: The Misty skin will defintely be fixed. I probably just received a bad copy of the texture. As of right now, we have no idea how to change the color of that pink arrow. Regarding the cutscene mouths, those will most likely not be animated. There were opcodes that would control the actors' head models in GTA3. But those opcodes were removed from the VC engine. So this may be the best that it can get.

Just putting a list of bugs I have found so far, some I am sure that you know about, but I will list them anyway.

 

 

  • Ped Models - Need fixing
  • Misty - Needs texturing
  • No blockade on Calahan bridge
  • I screen you scream mission, when you park the ice cream van and sound the jingle, then get out and wait for the people to stand next to it. They don't come close enough for the blast to kill any of them
  • One of the Phone missions on first island, when you have to get in the parked van (can't rememebr the name of the mission) you get in the van, the camara then moves to something on the road but there is nothing there, then when you drive off there is nothing on the map or anything. So you don't know what to do
  • I started a new game and did all of lugis missions first, then after the 'Fuzz ball' mission, I went to Lugi's but nothing happened.
  • Trains - VERY HARD to get in and out, when you get out you get stuck. Also isn't the camara suppose to chase the train, not be inside it?
  • The blockage on the 2nd island gonig over the 3rd island is easily passed, justdrive up the side of it. I don't know if that was liek it in GTA3. But you still can't drive across the bridge because it's up.
  • Opening cut scene, there is no cars after the bank robbery. The camara moves as if there is cars there. But there is none. After the bomb is thrown out, the 2 men fighting are shooting.....Without guns they appear to hold guns but none there
  • One of lugi's missinos where you have to beat up a guy with a baseball bat, then spray and store his car. It doesn't say that teh car has been stored, and it;s very hard to get out (camara angle)
  • Some VC pink things.

Hope you already knoe about these, and can't wait for the full Beta 2

 

Reply from Craig: That issue with 'I Scream, You Scream' has been known about for a few months now. I'm still trying to figure it out. And the phone mission you're talking about is 'Big N Veiny.' That code is incomplete as another GTA3 opcode was removed. And it would be very difficult to simulate with other opcodes. Just drive the van to the docks to pass the mission. 'The Fuzz Ball' is the final Luigi mission. I addressed the train issue a few posts ago. As far as the roadblocks at the SSV bridge, it was like that in GTA3. We're using the same collision files.

Wow! Didn't take long to get some good bug reports in from you guys. The good news is we know about almost all of those issues. I'll try to highlight some of what's been posted so far.

 

@dominionspy: I knew I wasn't up-to-date with my outro, so thanks for that file. "Gforce" should be added to the team though (he submitted a few mapping bugs). And it looks like my secret cars were found out pretty quickly.

 

@Invader: Most of the issues that you've pointed out are known about and will be addressed before the final release. But there is one thing you said that caught my attention. You said, " The last mission I completed was 'The fuzz ball' and now when I walk into the marker of Lugi's it does nothing." 'The Fuzz Ball' is the final Luigi mission. When you complete that, there are no more Luigi missions to be played. So what you're experiencing is the way it's supposed to be. Plus in GTA3 'The Fuzz Ball' was completely optional (as you could pass 'Last Requests' before that).

 

Fridays and Saturdays are usually not good days for me to work on this mod as I'm at work Friday night and all of Saturday. So my next update will probably be around 9-10:00 PM Saturday night (GMT -6). Keep the reports coming, and I'm glad the public test is working so quickly. xmas.gif

what happens to e with the beta:

i start gtalc using the launcher, i'm in the menu, startgame--> start new game and then BAM! it quits

 

EDIT:

another thing, it also doesn't seem to detect my audio hardware, while normal vc does

 

fyi, i'm running it on Windows XP + SP2

gah, it seems that i forgot to copy the gta3 audio files

Oh, I didn't know that, but I thought there is another mission because after I completed 'Fuzz Ball' the L was still on the map so I went there and the blue marker is there. That's why I thought it wasn't working.

 

Btw, how do you get the secret cars tounge.gif

 

EDIT - On the 2nd island, the underground train. If you drive into it, you can pass straight through it but then your car sets on fire straight away, so I jumped out but it said I was dead but my car didn't explode.

 

EDIT 2 - The underground trains are also not on the tracks, they are in the middle of the 2 tracks.

 

Reply from Craig: To get the secret cars, push sprint and look behind at the same time while you're on foot. Then for more fun, push the sub-mission button when you're inside each of the cars.

im havin problems, it says i need to insert the gta vice play cd and wen i do it still says it. cry.gif

 

Reply from Craig: Have you tried clicking the "Verify Paths" button that's in the launcher's interface? Check my post on the radio conversion for instructions on how to enter the interface for the launcher. If it says all files are found then it should work. If not, it'll tell you exactly what you're missing.

And how to make russian text? I ask it because I have found russian.gxt in TEXT FOLDER=)))))))

 

One more bug is transparent water and underground ways, witch could be seen through water!

I can't tell anything more about bugs. The exit from a train is realy buggy=))) And I think you should make some payment for the ride on the train!=) It would be very realistic!

i noticed the reload sound bug is still there, so i've fixed it. open weapon.dat(its in the data folder lol) with word/wordpad and try to find the code for shotgun, then replace it with this one:

well.. first off, excellent job with the mod you guys, it's more like gta3 than I ever thought would be possible.. but to add to the list off bugs, I've noticed like a dozen or so places where windows and doors are translucent.. also, this isn't really a bug.. but I put all of my files from my gta 3 disc in the folder yet many aren't actually being used, I was hoping to hear the gta 3 radio stations, the ped voices, and such.. also, I assume this was done on purpose, but I was hoping the windshields would shatter when shot sad.gif

 

Reply from Craig: Including all of the radio stations and ped dialog (which hasn't been figured out yet) would increase this download from about 80 MB to probably around 400-500 MB. There's no way I'm releasing a mod that big. Plus Rockstar probably doesn't want us giving out all of the GTA 3 audio.

i do hav the no cd patch, thats the thing.... i downloaded the audio off the site craig provided cuz at the moment, i cannot find my gta3 play cd, i think i lent it to my freind

 

If you use the downloaded audio, make sure you also use the inlcuded gta-lc.ini file as well.

Just place gta-lc.ini into the main folder (where gta-vc.exe and gta-lc.exe are located).

i downloded the files from the firt post of the last page and when i start the game its starts just like beta 1 (i did not do anyting with the 2nd file (that came with source code) if i hav 2 please tel me how)

so no movies or sh*t like that

 

and also when i went to the pay phone near the stadium(the only mission i tried so far) my computer restarted when i enterd the blip)

 

and i stil hear vice city radios

I put all of my files from my gta 3 disc in the folder yet many aren't actually being used, I was hoping to hear the gta 3 radio stations, the ped voices, and such..

For the radio stations to work I think you need to rename them to the ones that Vice uses.
