Couple of little questions.

 

I was wondering if there's any plans for adding anything to GTA 3 like building interiors or stores. Or do you have no plans to change anything except the game engine and update the vehicle types (like adding bikes and helicopters)?

Officially, we're not adding interiors at this point. It may be done in the distant future though.

 

Oh and, is it just me, or does the game not remember things as well as in the other GTA games? That is, when you turn around, then turn back again, cars will vanish, even if they're really close. Is that normal, and if so, will it be fixed in the final release.

We have not modified the VC engine in any way which would affect this. Nor is there any known way that we could "fix" that.

Ok, I've been having a problem with the LC Launcher. I downloaded Beta 1 and installed it, following the instructions to the letter. When I go to run the launcher crashes and I get the XP error reporting window:

 

GTA Liberty City has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Blah Blah Blah.

 

I'm using a clean VC install with no cracks, and I have all the runtime stuff.

 

Craig Kostelecky was kind enough to send me a link to the Beta 2 download. I installed that, downloaded the AudioLC files, and still i get the same message.

 

Any ideas?

The only thing you're doing besides downloading the gamma files is adding the audioLC files, right?

 

If that's the case, I'm not sure what the issue might be. Are you using the standard exe? The Australian version has been known to cause some issues.

 

Also, you may want to try some of the different Windows compatibility options. You shouldn't need to use compatibility to make the launcher work, but it doesn't hurt to try.

 

Other than those two things, I can't think of anything else that might help. Maybe if I knew more information about your setup (it never hurts too know too much) I might be able to think of something else.

Well, here's my system specs

 

Abit IC7-Max 3 Mainboard

Intel Pentium 4 3.4 ghz

1 GB DDR

Albatron Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128mb

Windows XP Home

Service Pack 1

 

I did try the compatibility modes with no result.

 

I'm pretty sure I have the American version of vice city, although since I bought it on ebay, who knows? Anyone have a known working American exe I can try out?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but leafing through 14 pages of this topic is really daunting.

 

I have a few things to ask, so please forgive me.

 

1. Is the link on the very first post of this topic to the codes the latest version?

 

2. Does the latest main.scm include the subway and L-train which I read has progressed quite a bit. (i don't see it)

 

3. When I try to start "Turismo" or any of the pay-phone missions on all three islands all I get when fido stands in the marker is the transition to the cutscene screen (widescreen mode with black stripes on the top and bottom) and the words "Turismo" flashed across the bottom right of the screen (usual mission text) and thats it! fido just stands there (the game is still running cause fido is swinging his arms and there are cars driving around in the background) and I have no way of exiting cutscene mode (have to pull the plug on my com, even ctrl + alt + del dosen't work)... Is this supposed to be what happens? dontgetit.gif Btw I can't start the mission too...

The code that's in the mission coding thread is not the newest version. But it's the newest that can simply be plugged into the mod without changing too many other things. All of the current code files depend on new files being in the image (specifically the train). The mod has gotten to the point where simply releasing a new scm file cannot fully update the mod. We're really at the point where the only way you can easily get up-to-date is by downloading a new beta.

 

With that being said, I think I'll remove the link from the first post.

 

Hopefully I can pull myself away from SA long enough to get this thing organized and released to the masses.

So the link on the first page is the latest update where you don't have to download many misc files that need to accompany the main.scm to make some stuff work? K, guess I have to wait for the v2 beta to be out then.

i have lc but i do not see any train or undreground in it except for an helicopter on the rails.

is there a train some where ?

Man, that Intercity Highway realy needs lods made for it!

 

Apart fromt hat, it brought back old memories of the GTA3 one when it was first released.

Freeway signs are ready to roll, submitted it tonight. Highway has LODs in it too. In the middle picture, you can see the next exit in the distance biggrin.gif The LODs will have a draw distance of 1000. They're cheap copies of the original files, with the renamed LOD in the front, but they still count.

I'm just getting into torrents myself. I think that would be a good option to do (in addition to the traditional download).

 

I'd also like to take this moment to publically ask for hosting for the next major release. It's almost at a point where we can release it to the masses again. And I'd like to be ready (with hosts) when it's all done.

A question....

 

I've been looking through the IDE's of GTALC and comparing them with the GTAIII IDE's. One thing I've noticed is a lot of objects that get the alpha flag (4) in GTALC, but these same objects are flagged 0 in GTA3. A lot of the skyscrapers on Staunton Island are the same way.

 

Here's an example from the generic.ide from III and the lcgeneric.ide from LC.
