I've searched through the thread and can't find the answer to my problem.

When I first installed the GTA:LC mod, I had no problems playing it. I've recently installed the codeupdate patch as per the instructions included. However during the loading sequence of a new game, I receive the following error:

Unhandled Exception: c0000005

AT Address: 0048ae99

 

Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution?

Time to bring this thread out of the mothballs...

 

From what I've found with the lights, I can add 2 2dfx to the game before it crashes on me.

 

A few ideas to free up some....

 

1. Could the 2dfx in the generic.ide be removed? From what I can see 95% of the objects in it aren't used in GTALC.

 

2. Can light effects that are temporary objects be made instead of using the 2dfx?

 

3. Erase all the lights from the highway model files and plunk down lights from the game with a new IPL. The lights that run down the divider of the highway are lamppost2.dff and the ones that are on the offramps are lamppost1.dff.

 

How big are Cabanioven County and the Modpark in terms of objects?

 

I think I've broken through the object limit. I couldn't get past 8000 static objects for a long time. The key appears to be Entry Info Node in the limit adjuster, which I guess has something to do with IDEs. When I changed it from 3200 up to 4000 there was no more crashing.

 

Here's how much I have in the game now. This includes Miss Liberty, Werre Tower, the Shoreside Bridge, Rockstar Heights, Illando and some personal stuff. Miss Liberty looks good, the torch got one of the two 2dfx I could add smile.gif Werre Tower has screwy transparencies in the lower windows. Rockstar Heights looks good, had to delete the inter-island bridges because they were running into the highway, and the garage door won't work because it required a main.scm change.

 

Anyone know of some more map mods to test how high this will go? I'm running out of candidates.

OK Thank you. I would work on the paths myself but i donth ave any bitmaps for lberty city with highway included sad.gif

I agree if we had a map of LC with the highway included mapping paths would be easier .... but you could do it using player position from Steve M and then edit them by hand .... all you would have to do is set up player position to read properly for paths and then F4 your nodes out for the Highway.

Request: Would it be possible to make and "Marina Park Mod" for GTA:LC?

Like using a car lot as a garage?

the other edgefiles mirrors you have links to inthe first post are all capped at 50kb/sec but this one is at 100kb/sec so its a little faster

 

also we might be able to host it at http://www.thegtaplace.com (I'm Chris, the webmaster for your information)

roughly how many downloads does this get a day? divide that by how many people hosting it so i can see how much bandwidth its likely to use up. then i'll make sure with my host. I can provide an ftp account if needed, alternatively you could use the php file uploader i coded

Sleeper, you responded to an old post and the guy is busted anyway, but if you think a map might inspire someone to make some paths then here's an old one. If you want me to update it then just tell me the resolution you'd like it in, etc.

Good work with the object limit, DJQ. So far the Mafialand and Modpark areas add up to about 86 DFF's and 8 TXD's. PM me if you'd like to test the modpark.

@jcab Yeah a good map of the highway sections could be used with the path editor i think to make some decent paths for it i am not sure waht the resolution of the map in the path editor is ..... i will see

It's not easy to get them perfect, have a try at converting/rigging one and you'll see what I mean...

Great job Craig!

Although I'm not known here by many people(I rarely post),I think I've acquired a consistent knowledge of the basic scm coding,but I'm in no way as good as Demarest or you..

I'd like to help testing/code missions though I'm a little short on time suicidal.gif (Studying..eew),besides,it would help me improve my coding skills in areas such as creating coordinate offsets(I have the idea of how to do,but haven't tryed yet)and creating markers(Which again I know how to do but get distracted sometimes tounge.gif).

 

Just wondering,because I thought about helping in mission coding,how is it handled?The person is assigned to a specific mission and once it is done he/she gives the code to you to put it together in the newest scm?

 

Btw I've got the latest scm working(The one in the first page)with the audio files and the train files(I couldn't get it to work yet),will hunt for bugs as soon as I can. rampage_ani.gif

Couple of little questions.

 

I was wondering if there's any plans for adding anything to GTA 3 like building interiors or stores. Or do you have no plans to change anything except the game engine and update the vehicle types (like adding bikes and helicopters)?

 

 

Oh and, is it just me, or does the game not remember things as well as in the other GTA games? That is, when you turn around, then turn back again, cars will vanish, even if they're really close. Is that normal, and if so, will it be fixed in the final release.

I have extracted that ped pack as well as the 4 train img files all into the gta3.img,I have the scm file provided in the site that AdTec_224 mentioned and I have the lc audio file in the vc folder,but it still craches confused.gif.I simply don't get it,I've followed all the instructions in the several threads..

Are you trying to install all the parts in one go, if so its not to be recommended, if not then at what part did it start crashing after what files were installed?

It's nice to see more people getting involved. I didn't think we'd get much action here after San Andreas's release. There really isn't a set procedure for converting missions. There's only been a small group of coders so far, so it's been pretty easy to handle. If you're interested in trying to convert a mission, go ahead. Just pick any that's not converted so far. I don't think too many new missions will be added (at least not by me) until San Andreas starts getting boring.
