OK, some problems here.

I'm trying to convert some peds' stats from GTA3 to VC/LC, and I'm running into some problems: The hex code. I know some, but it's very diverse. I may not be on the LC team, but contributing here is very difficult with all the hex codes (ped's cars they drive) I don't understand.

For example, what is the hex code for Poor, Rich, Exec., and Worker hex code for LC?

Default.ide has it all.

That's what I'm editing it through. tounge.gif

It's going well with the editing, despite some confusing hex codes, but the radio editing, stat editing is going perfect. Anyway, what is the hex code for peds that only drive Executive cars (i.e. Stinger)? Not anything else, just executive.

P.S.: Some stats (i.e. STAT_SPORTSFAN, STAT_STEWARD) in 3 are not mentioned in VC's stats. Are there any unused stats in VC that were used in 3?

Craig: could i have a copy of the new main.scm with the train please.

ESMazter: download the audio file from here http://www.kostelecky.com/craig/audioLC.rar then copy the audioLC folder into your GTA LC directory and now your game should work and have the sound as well.

I have installed the package and it works perfectly for me.

The only thing I've found is that if I try to run in the same direction as the train is going I suddenly stop moving along with the train and come out of the back.

If you already have the train up and running, then I can send you the newest scm file. But if you don't you'd probably be better off downloading the beta files for testing. It's a 61.3 MB download, so you may not want to do it if your on dial-up. But if you're on broadband and you want to help out the team with some testing, then PM me for the link.

Not double posting, but there's a new problem. That problem I mentioned above mysteriously vanished, and it's working now. o_O

A new one: the radio stations. They're VC's no matter what. Wild.adf, Flash.adf, Kchat.adf, Fever.adf, Espant.adf, Emotion.adf, and Wave.adf were all converted to their respected radio stations. I haven't got a chance to convert VRock.adf and VCPR.adf.

I want the Radio Stations to point to GTA:LC's audio folder on the Hard Drive (C:), and not to the CD drive.

I am not a coder so I don't think I can add that co-ords thread without trial and error. Right now I have a midterm to study for so I don't want to be bothered with that.

For the player issue it is known and to copy gta3 this will be fixed by attaching the player to to the train in a later build. Post-midterm I am going to attempt to add lights to the train.

Unfortunately, the only way to do that is to use a no-cd crack. And since that's against the forum's rules, you'll have to look elsewhere to find one.

Adding the code is very simple Mark. Simply open up the main.scm.txt with 0.22. Search for "create_thread" Then add the create_thread line in the code above with the rest of the create lines. Then search for "mission 0" And paste the rest of the code right above mission 0. Compile and play.

You'll also need to add those three entries to your gxt for it to work. Or if you don't want to try it, you can download the main.scm and the american.gxt with the coordinates mod included here.

That's what I am using (the no-cd crack), due to the fact of how hard it was to start GTA:VC. confused.gif But now, it works all the time. I had no choice but to use a no-cd for GTA:VC, and it would be better than me installing/uninstalling every single time, trying to find the problem.

Here's a little teaser of something I'm working on now. I attacked one of the Hoods and they are shooting me back and actually hurting me!

With luck, this may also fix the mysterious golfers bug as well!

I'm glad the Hoods can actually retaliate and do damage now, and I'm getting the avaliable main characters from GTA3 to VC's cuts.img and then...a problem.

Problem? The "skeletal structure" will be a pain for me to do. So I'll need help for this, and with no good website that can host my files for GTA:LC, I'm screwed. sad.gif

Back on the topic: has anyone coded the Pay and Spray to be $1,000 or Hidden Packages gain $1,000; or possibly rampages gain $5,000 after completing them? It's how it goes in GTA3, IIRC. I'm prolly sure this is hardcoded, but it's worth a shot.

Hi, in Vice City the stunt checks, -rewards, -count and the data to be stored is scripted (just search a decompiled main for 'stunt' to find the sections).

I´ve send you a pm yesterday, Craig. Would be glad to help with some beta testing. Bigger downloads are no problem.

Did you receive my reply Whacko?

And I'm not sure what you mean with the stunts. I didn't do that part of the code, but I thought it was identical (or very close) to the way Vice City did it. Could you clarify what you mean there?

Ah, thanks for reply... the first pm I got here forced a popup window. Was waiting for that again. smile.gif

The second question did point towards kingpin, didn`t it? *unsure*

Oh I know how to add threads its just the time it takes plus upload that I wasn't going to do it just yet. I also usually resort to reading the mission thread coding thread whenever editing.

Hello, here`s my report from the latest testing:

- The Train appears and stops with open doors at every station.

- It didn`t disappear anywhere while moving even Portland was fine, Craig wanted to know that. I stayed behind the train per pedes, with a bike (for short, hehe) and a heli.

- The look and the movements of the train are a bit hard, but it`s nothing to really worry about, I´d say. Lights on the train would be great. As much as I saw from the heli the interiour of the train is well done also.

Now for the bad things... :-/

- As the train stopped at the Harwood Heights station I tried to enter but it`s Z-coord lowered. Relatively slow, but the train 'sunk' under the rails untill I wasn´t able to see it anymore. When I was back on the street under the station the train was gone and didn`t show up for a whole ingame day, then I started a new game to test that again, but couldn`t reproduce it. It only happenend once.

- Any other time I tried to enter a waggon the game crashed at an wait-0-ms opcode (0001) in the thread "hj", which seems to do the stunt calculations.

Trying to look into the actual main.scm brought an error in mission 8 saying a gxt-entry is missing. So I wasn`t able to look at the source or simply change it to a longer delay - that often helped me, cause I think my pc is right at or just a bit over the system requirements (and I normally run more than I program).

Perhaps I can get more information when someone loads up the actual uncompiled main.txt and I compile it myself locally here.

What mission tool do the LC dev have in use? I`m using Barton`s editor 1.3.

I had that problem until someone helped me. Look at "vsettings". Open it and change the destination folder.

I don't know if this is fixed yet but when I enter the train, I just slide out of it when it moved.

Great, I guess I would havve never thought of the path. Sometimes nearest seems so far... thx!

But unfortunately the longer delay didn`t bring any change. Generally I was not getting forward finding out why it crashes. During time the number of exeption errors raised - I can link to screenshots of em if wished.

Interesting was the following: Ich created a radar marker above the 'car' object train not to have to search for the train or wait ages. Following that marker brought me to an area where no trails are at all... and it wasn´t moving. I mean, it`s not important, but why this?

0186: $T1R1A = create_marker_above_car $374

The above is what I added to the mission code.

The Pay N Spray is hard coded. There's also a couple of things that are hard coded as well, but I forgot what they are right now. And since those are hard coded, we made the decision to make all of the rewards match the Vice City style. So if we wanted to, we could easily change the hidden packages, rampages, taxi money, etc. to their GTA3 values. But we decided to divide all of the prices by 10 so it's all the same.

Whacko: we use Barton's Builder 0.22. And I included an uncompiled source code (with good variable names and comments) as well. It's just called main.scm.txt.
