The latest main.scm is available right now. Just look a few posts up. And putting the character right by a lockup point is kind of pointless as we have a few spots that are bad (the casino, asuka's, the airport).

 

We're going to figure out exactly what's wrong, and when we do. I'll post a new download for the code.

They look alright. It's sometimes hard to tell with only still pictures. We already have the Columbians and Yardies done though. It would be nice to see more of the Mafia, Triads, Yakuza, Red Jacks, and Nines. Those are the files we can use until the conversions are completed.

btw. this is offtopic in a script related thread, but the game crashes here too if I drive around the 3 islands long enough... perhaps a memory-problem (just overloaded?), I cant reproduce the crashes because they happen after longer playtime and they appear only between islands...

 

Another thing I'm wondered about is: where is the loading-screen? Vice always had a loading screen between the islands and now the map is full and no loading screen? (How is it triggered, some map-specific issue?)

I've got the same unhandled exception as Sir-Sabin (c0000005 at address 004056a3) several times while running from the FBI. I did not have an AK-47 at the time of the most recent crash, but if I'm not mistaken the FBI agents do carry them.

It definetly looks like there's some problem with the AK47. I think our weapons guys need to take a really close at that conversion. It seems okay on the surface, but there's just something not right about it.

 

Regarding loading screens, I think we may have to look at putting them back in. Also, there may be a problem with the high detail LODs. I'm going to be playing around with those files before I make any decisions but we may have to lose those awesome looking LOD models.

 

Does anybody know how to re-enable the loading screens?

The missiles fired backwards in Vice City, so it's not your guys doing.

well that should be easy to fix... all you need to do is find the .dff model in the gta.img, import it into zmodeler, rotate it 180 degrees, then re-export it and replace it in the gta.img, that should fix the probelm

If you guys go ahead with a radio helicopter, I'd like to see something like the purple version of the Love Media chopper. And the D19... numbers should be removed as well.

In the I/E Garage, the camera should follow player. And when I complete the Rampage sniping Yardie's heads up in AmCo, the text doesn't appear.

 

Am I the only person who never crashed with the AK?

The code for passing the rampages is the same for each rampage. So the sniper one shouldn't be any different than any other one. Does it do that every time you pass it? But it did happen to you, so something may be up. I'll look into it and see if I get the bug as well.

Reenabling loading screens produce weird effects with LODs. They become completely invisible, so you don't see Staunton from Portland and SSV from Staunton. Also, there can be only 2 islands in LC. Those are the two main issues with zones.

There's something fun about just riding around Libery City taking screenshots.

 

Here we have a shot of our hero seemingly riding up the side of a building.

Obviously, though, he's not really riding up the wall. This is the result of riding a PCJ down that little sloped path between the buildings in Saint Mark's, way at the top of the hill. As I reached the end of the path, I turned left just enough to hit it and fly through the gap between the buildings ahead. I had hit the jump in such a way as to make myself more or less parallel to the building on the left. After I made contact with the building, I bounced off and continued my flight yet higher to the right. I very nearly landed on top of the building just to the right of the one seen across the street, but I was too low and ended up falling off at that point.

It's a bit like me, I'm not very active at all, in fact, I didn't even player GTA:LC for months.... I can't be co-loeader anymore too, just like Demarest . We were the 2 starters, we did what we had to did, it's to everyone else to continue the mod. I'm going here sometime and I saw that there is some big progresses being done such as missions, peds models and so. I might still come around too, just to look at the progress made. I was first no really sure to quit since I like the fact to be the co-leader of a huge mod but if I do nothing, it's worthless.

 

On my side, I'm working for the GoldenEye mod for UT2004 (www.goldeneye.downclan.com) and I'm beta testing mutliple Gamecube emulators so most of my time goes there now. I have no more interest / time for GTA modding....

 

So I say to you guys good luck with the mod, don't let it die, and Demarest, it has been a HUGE pleasure to work with you, I hope we'll talk or work on something again later (GTA:VC/LC mod for GTA:SA? tounge.gif). This was also a big pleasure to work with every other guys that worked/are still working on the mod, Killer.ip, Craig, CrazyDude, ModelingMan, Skidz, ect. ( I forgot a lot tounge.gif)

The Camera in the garages and in the toilets (in the park on the second island) aren't working because this had to be done by the script (and until the missions are working I think this has to wait)

I've spent a lot of time driving around Asuka's place and the casino and I'm not getting any lockups there. I've uploaded my code file so you guys can try to recreate the lockups. If it does lock up, I would need to know exactly where it happens (a screenshot or some coordinates would work)

 

There is one lockup that I get with this code and that's in the airport. I did find out that this lockup is caused by the rampage code, but I wasn't able to isolate where it is exactly. But we should be able to find it pretty quickly.

 

The only other known bug at this point is with the AK-47. It is especially noticable when you do the rampage in Saint Mark's.

 

There are also several small bug fixes or code tweaks that were updated. Full details are in the readme.

well i finely get to get back online and i find this mod. and even though i like the idea of having gta3 again but this time running the vice engine. i do have a question about the mod.

 

can i use the gta3 city but have all the vice cars?

cuz well unless i get to keep vice's cars that have things like a carb(Pheionx)or a fly wheel(vice BFinjection)i don't realy won't the mod. and no i don't mean just changing the cars in the .img i mean leaving the cars alone and just changing the city. and well the Sabre Turbo is not a car i want to loss. and i would rather it be parked like in vice and to where i'm the only one driving it. as for gang cars why is the sabre turbo the dioblos stallion? why not the cubin hermes?

basicly all i want is the city. i like the cars more in vice my self. i want the city but if it changes the cars then out side the look of the game i don't think it's some thing i want if i can't keep the cars the way they are. well i think i got it all. be kool you all...

You may change anything you want about this mod. Putting the Vice City cars back in is a relatively easy thing to do.

 

as for gang cars why is the sabre turbo the dioblos stallion? why not the cubin hermes?

Two reasons. First, the engine sound of the Sabre Turbo (which is hard coded) matches the Diablo Stallion much better. Secondly, the flames from the exhaust of the Cuban Hermes come out of the side of the car, whereas the Diablo's exhaust is in the rear (that's also hardcoded)
