The audio is all correct, just converted 2 or 3 of them back to mp3 and they are the correct stations. I just replaced all the radar files, seemed to work just fine havent tryed it in game yet though.

 

I have another question, in the coding topic there's code posted all in there, about how to build the garage, and one about a phone that rings. How do I install this stuff, I know I must have to go edit some stuff. Thanks for the quick responses guys.

Right now, everything that's been discussed in the coding topic (except the Shoreside Vale IE Garage) is already coded and available to sample. Look at my post on page 8 for a link to the files needed.

 

Here's a weird theory on your music problem? Did you replace the files for the wrong game? Meaning did you convert the stations for Vice City instead of Liberty City?

Nope, no updates to release. I have been working on it though. Ill be in Scotland wild camping and walking all next week though, so dont expect anything from me.

I posted these on gtaskins2 and it was sudgested I stick um on here, so here they are.. I strolled around VC looking for suitable models ta use as the gangs from LC then cut and pasted the original skins ta fit the model textures

On a more positive note, we DID appear in PC Zone. There was only a small blurb on page 120, but LC beta v1 is on the disc smile.gif

I've always said "Never look a gift horse in the mouth" wink.gif

 

On the plus side, you guys ranked higher than "Red Orchestra" for UT2004.

Ok, I'm really confused now. I went through and listened to all the .wavs and they are the correct stations. Converted them to mp3, listened to them all and they're good. Then .adf and put them in my audio folder. I replaced the no cd crack and boot the game. Still vice city radio I don't know what is going on.

 

Also, I didn't see a post made by you on page 8 at all, I'll check every page though.

Here's a crazy suggestion:

 

Why not instead of using the airport, use that tunnel on the third island of Liberty City that's blocked up (near the Dam). Remove the obstructions, add the "teleport" zone just inside of that.

 

I don't know where you'd make the player appear in Vice City if you did it this way, though confused.gif

I meant page 8 in the Mission coding thread. That's where the latest code files are.

 

One last question about the radio stations, and you may have answered this already, but I want to be absolutely sure. Is the CD in your computer still. Becuase if it is, even if you have the no-cd file, the stations will still play off the CD.

i just want to make sure you are running the gta-lc.exe in the liberty city folder, not running something in your VC folder if you have one. it doesnt make any sense for it to be playing vice city radio if it's reading from its own audio folder and you dont have a disc in.

I'm new here, just wanted to add my 2 cents... thought GTA: LC mod kicked some serious A.. anyways, as far as the weapons go, i think the extra ones should be used, so that we aren't just limited to the 10 weapons that gta3 has. Why not use one of the (ok, 3rd best, behind the bikes and helis) features of vc? We could have 30 some weapons, and i say use them!

Thanks. Was goofing around with the CamHack which will be one small helpful part in (hopefully) making our movie. You've made a video or two in VC engine, haven't you? I should PM you to ask about some stuff concerning the recording of the video biggrin.gif

I'm using the shortcut created on my desktop after installing LC and there is no disk in my drive at all. It's really stumping me, I'm about to uninstall it all and fresh install VC and then LC.

before you do that, i have a suggestion. go to http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml and download Process Explorer. extract it and leave it for a moment. start Liberty City and go to the audio options page and have it start playing a station. while it plays, alt+tab and run Process Explorer. select the gta-vc.exe process and examine the "File" handles for one pointing to a ADF file. check its path and make sure it's reading from the right one, which it probably isnt.

oh, i'd like to mention this, since i havent seen it mentioned yet: the clipped wing dodo's propellers don't seem to hurt people and i think they are supposed to. also, it doesnt handle anything like the gta3 one does, but i expect you already know that since it is quite obvious. if these have already been mentioned, i apologize, but searching for "dodo" gets you a lot of matches...

 

this goes with what i asked about water before: there must be something VERY different about that water... the sea sparrow (i dont know if that is normally in LC; i used the trainer to spawn one) can sit on the water, but you can use the "down" key to push yourself underneath as far as you like. i'm not complaining that the sea sparrow doesnt work, if it's not supposed to be in LC anyway, i'm just using the example for how water behaves oddly. i suspect you had to change something to make something work but what exactly did you do? o.o

It will be very difficult to totally recreate the GTA3 dodo. The propeller hurting peds is probably off limits. The handling is the best we could do with the amount that we played with it.

 

If somebody else wants to play with the handling file to try and make the dodo better, then by all means try it.

what do you mean by "off limits"? i dont have gta3 installed any more, so i cannot find out for myself: didn't the dodo prop do that in gta3? or is it not possible to implement? i remember now that someone mentioned the handling is different in VC... i can see how that may be maddening trying to get the dodo to behave the same way, given that.

It's most likely off-limits because that's something that's controlled by the engine (meaning the exe file) Modifying the exe is very difficult if not impossible in some areas. This problem is similar to the water problem. The Vice City engine treats water differently. So to get the GTA3 water, we have to emulate it using the engine we are given. That's where nearly all of the problems come from in this modification.

Now, I have another question for the FAQ: How can I get the VC weapons in GTA:LC ? I hope you guys are willing to give the answer and add it to the list, because I think that a lot of GTA:LC players want this, but do not have the modding knowledge to find out how to do it.

There is the Miss Liberty mod, that will eventually be converted from GTA3 to LC, check out the GTA3 mods converted to LC thread.

a couple of posts back i mentioned the sea sparrow not reacting quite the same to water as it does in Vice City. it can go right through it, though it does float (barely), while in VC it bounces off quite firmly. did you have to change the.. bouyancy level for some reason?

Offering the GTAIII radio stations on your server may get you in legal and financial problems (copyright).

i have a no audio hardware found and i dont understand you explanation.

I'm going to start by assuming you have downloaded the new code files. With the new launcher, audio is now seperated into two sections (or folders) the first folder (just called "audio") contains all of the files that are installed by Vice City. The only Liberty City sounds that go there are the ones that overwrite the Vice City sounds. Those are files like the mission complete sound, the radio files, and the city and water sounds.

 

The other folder is for GTA3 mission specific sounds (the is called "AudioLC") and it should contain all of the files from the GTA3 Play CD (in the audio folder). You don't need all of them yet, but if you open up the gta-lc.ini file with notepad you'll see this:

Everyone of these files must be in the location they are listed above. If any of them are missing, then you will get no audio. If all of them are included (and in the right place) and you're still getting the error, then you have a unique problem and you should tell us about it with great detail so we can help you.

 

 

Now, I have another question for the FAQ: How can I get the VC weapons in GTA:LC ?

This is a moderately difficult modding process. You'll need to get the original Vice City weapons.dat file. The default.ide was also changed so some animations could be converted. And the biggest thing would be changing the main.scm so the unused weapons would spawn in Liberty City. The first two steps are pretty easy, but the third one (while not that difficult) is very intimidating to new modders.

 

If you're willing to do the work involved there's plenty of people on these forums that can help you along the way. But most of the people don't like doing projects for other people. If somebody said, "make me this mod." Then it will likely not get done. But if you asked somebody, "How do I make this mod? I'm willing to learn, but I'm a beginner at this." Then you'll most likely get somebody to help you. They'll probably tell you to read the readme files included first, but after you do that, then you'll get the help you need. That's basically how these forums work. It's like the old expression, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." That's what we try to do here.

The textures didn't work for me, it turned everything white. I probably did something wrong though.

Any estimate when the official ped pack will be done?
