I don't think he was talking about modding Liberty City. I think he wanted to mod his original GTA3 and was asking if such a code existed.

The Story of Vinny

 

 

Vinny was an army man. He deployed to Liberty City for a very important mission.

 

He was to plant a bomb in the Mayor's car and wait for him to get in, then detonate it.

 

The US Army had delivered a Hummer for his use the day before.

 

He was supposed to be wearing green camoflauge so he would not be spotted, but it was fall. Go figure.

 

The clouds were gathering, and Vinny had almost reached his target,

 

He set the bomb quickly, and he spotted the mayor coming.

 

Boom.

 

Mission accomplished.

 

His mission complete, Vinny waited for an exit vehicle.

 

Not exactly what we had in mind, but what the hell.

Hey I noticed your avater is based on one of my screens, looks good glad it could be put to good use.

 

@Wingman -No offensive man but can you cut back on the effects, its quite hard on the eyes. I like the look but not to the extent you're showing in your shots. Its up to you but that's just my opinion.

Freak is right, they are a bit rough on the eyes, especially the explosion pic. Still, they are good screenshots, but use less saturation and glow effects.

I decided to play with the code for a little while and I found out these numbers

Yes those are correct, but gang numbers and pedtype numbers are different. The area of concern was this line of code:

03F1: pedtype  12? add_threat  1?

Which makes the Columbians shoot and you whenever you're close by. Changing the 12? to a 7? would make the Mafia want to kill you instead.

Many thanks to the GTA: LC team for all their work. I have finally been able to drive around Liberty City on a PCJ600 and I love it.

 

I used the installer package and I believe I got a full 62 MB download of it. The Vice City install I used had no mods whatever. The only change I made to it was adding a 100% save game file. I haven't put any add-ons to GTA: LC at all. When I go to start GTA: LC, either from the desktop shortcut or the start menu, more often than not I get a Microsoft error reporting window saying "GTA LC.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" and of course asking me to send the error report, which as it happens I don't do. I guess I should copy the error report details and paste them here in the forum huh? Well, I'm at work so I can't do that yet, but any idea what this is? If I keep clicking on the icons, eventually GTA: LC starts up and runs fine, but of course I wouldn't mind finding out what that error is so I could try to stop it. Thanks for any help.

There's your problem. You're using a Vice City save file. You cannot use a save file that was made for one game where all of the coordinates are different.

I'm not starting the game from the VC save file. The VC save file is still in the default folder in My Docs. I assume GTA: LC has its own separate save file folder b-c when I went to save a game all eight save slots were open. But again, I'm not using the VC save file; I'm just clicking on the GTALC desktop shortcut or using the start menu. Just having VC save files in the folder wouldn't make a difference, would it?

Make sure you're using the launcher. Everything gets messed up without it.

Sorry I'm so ignorant, but what do you mean by "launcher"? I downloaded the zip file called "launcher update" or something in the official updates thread. I double-clicked on that *.exe file in there and I got another error reporting window saying "GTA Liberty City Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close". It looks exactly like the error I get when I use the desktop shortcut and the start menu. I didn't see a readme in that launcher update. Is there a certain place I'm supposed to put that launcher *.exe, or a certain place I'm supposed to point it to or something? I installed Vice City to the default folder. Thanks again for any help.
