Whoah.... But would all of this flow freely? Like without placing you out of your car standing on the bridge? So if you were in a chase with the police and you went into liberty city from vice would the game reset? Or would it just load up and keep playing? -Spidey...

Only certain things can be transferred, cops wouldnt be one of them.

 

I can (and am working on) do the health, armour, wanted level etc, and i need to make a simple save system (nothing like the internal one) to work with two cities.

 

Its all being worked on.

Ok I tested the City Loader.

 

I had some weird problem. It wouldn't run the gta-lc.exe launcher. The city loader ran but it just wouldn't run the LC launcher.

I discussed it with Smithers2 and it was fixed by setting the [Runtype] to Manual in the INI of the City Loader.

 

So now I run the City Loader and then run gta-lc.exe and it all works fine. So if you have the same problem this might solve it.

Smithers let me test this last night, I had some trouble getting it to start but I eventually got it to work. I don't know how he found those addresses to skip the main menu notify.gif

 

One bug I found though, I wasn't able to exit the game through the main menu.

Great work, although i had problems getting back from Vice to Liberty.

The more modified your copies of vice/lc are the less likely it will work unfortunately, its one of the reasons why MTA dont allow mods, cos it makes their systems unstable.

 

So, i recommend:

Vice Version 1.1 (I test it on 1.1)

No mods

Using full path in gta-lc launcher.

 

With all of that, you shouldnt (he says hopefully confused.gif ) get any problems. In theory.

 

EDIT: Me and twozero tested it with that, and it solved all his problems.

I noticed a few problems:

 

-Trainers don't work

-traffic/peds drastically reduced

-building/map models take a little time to load.

Well.... trainers wont work unless you set the captions to 'GTA: Vice City' as it says in the INI file itself (even then theres a small chance they wont work).

 

Traffic and peds arnt reduced.

 

Nor are building load times on most poples computers.

 

Not sure why you have those problems.

The memory addresses change (+8 bytes) to 1.1, and i test it on 1.1.

 

But from what people with 1.0 tell me they find problems with the +8 bytes system, so one address probobly doesnt change between versions, so i dont know which one that is. Before i release another one ill make sure that I test it on both versions, make sure its gona work. biggrin.gif

Wow. This is the final blow to GTA:WO. They have got NO hope of being able to claim any sort of advantage over you now.

 

Not that they ever could, but still.

But this is done by having TWO differen't vice city folders? And your changing things so that when we leave one city it CONNECTS to the next folder? If that's true then alot of things change right? Including the player model. So thats the only drawback i see to that. Oh; and the part about not having a menu.

 

But GREAT job. I hope you work all the bugs out; this could be cool... -Spidey...

Um, they are nothing. They never did anything with the files they were given. Read up on it. The GTA:WO team made absolutely no prgress after being in possession of the Liberty City files for three months.

I haven't posted anything here for a very long time but after I installed the updated LC-Launcher my audio (only for the game) doesnt work. I cant access it because it says No sound hardware found. When i open LC without the launcher the sound works perfect. Im not sure if this already posted or if its just me but it sux to have no sound. Can anyone help?

sorry i have been playing Gta:Lc for a while but i've never really seen this topic. So may i just ask a question directed to "Solo" With Rock* Heights did u release it yet for Lc? Please do if you haven't. Sorry if i sound new here but im just wondering

If you have the latest launcher, you'll need to copy your GTA3 audio files (from the play CD) to an AudioLC directory in your Liberty City folder (You do not need to copy the radio stations or police radio as they must be converted, and in the audio folder to work)

 

If any of the audio files requested by the launcher are missing, then no audio will be played. Open up the gta-lc.ini to see which files need to be copied.

 

@mikeman1346: The Packer's in there for the simple fact that it's fun to jump off of. If you do not want it in your game, simply change the default.ide setting to ignore.

Hmm, i think ive only posted at gtaforums about twice or so, and im surprised i still have my name on the team/contributed list and on the outro of the GTA:LC txds. Its glad to see this mod keep going, and im still surprised that i am still mentioned because of my little HUD/Graphics contribution tounge.gif

 

I wish gtalc a lot of luck in the future.

Great work, although i had problems getting back from Vice to Liberty.

 

Yea I had the same problem. I can go to Vice City from Liberty City but I cant do it vice-versa;it just freezes at the black-screen, I cant even double click on the black-screen. I think it might be because I have Vice City 1.0 but I am not sure.

I found a few more audio files that need to be converted from WAV to MP3.

 

City.wav and Water.wav

 

I'm also having issues removing the original VC audio files, but I'll get back to yas on that.

The reason they are small is because I run on a 26k modem, and this is the fastest way to get them uploaded. This took about fifteen minutes to do.

TbM2k's Idea's, Diligent Documentation, and Invaluable Information Gathering techniques have supported the mission coding community for some time now and if he wants to use what he is familiar with, and works better for him then let him use it; I for one find both the mission tools useful.

 

one instance is that in barton's i used an opcode i knew that i wasn't positive about the description of this is what it looks like in my ver 0.22

 

056C: $PLAYER_ACTOR

 

it is always used after an if so i knew it was checking something about the actor

after decompiling my same code under gtama i was then shown my problem with my mod doing things it shouldn't

 

is_actor_driving_policecar $player_actor

 

also with gtama i don't have to edit my scm.ini whenever we find a new description of an opcode ....blah blah blah you've all heard the prattle before i think there should be less fuss over editor's and more discussion of opcode definition and thread building .. right? right
