@Aztlan: Spreading rumors isn't cool. I didn't answer the PM because it was answered before it was written. EVERYBODY is welcome to help in any way they can. As a matter of clarification this is where we conduct our operations. So any work/contributions to this mod need to be posted here. Keeping things organized is challenging enough without having to chase down people on a dozen different forums. Thanks.

a horrible one none the less, i was just providing the link to where we were having the conversation, he will joined the forum once he starts, he doesnt have gta3 right now,

yeah, I see the logic in what Dam said...

 

And don't feel too bad Bond, I'm the original co-creator and I don't even get mentioned.... Alls well though, I ditched out rather early in the game, plus who's gonna remember this with enough clarity and honor to justify bitching for a name blurp. I think as long as people say "HEY MAN, Come check out this mod, man this is fun!" and continue to play on into the night, then the main duty of these modders has been finished. Their reward, a fun mod to play, the warm fuzzy feeling of making people happy, and bragging rights on the net and forum communties... plus hell, never know if a game developer is looking for modding experience. wink.gif

 

So yeah, great to see it's this big, it surprsies me slightly, but not that much. It's a huge project, with a great concept, and a real well polished mod that ACTUALLY got to a respectable level (not saying it's finished, but damn nice work gents) Glad to see you guys got the recognition you deserved for your work.

Quick question: Is there an easy way to turn off the Hunter/PCJ spawn or at least change the button combo? Thanks, and great job with the mod, guys. Keep up the good work!

yes and yes i am currently working with a modded scm of the old nomad v5 but if you just want that turned off or do you want the buttons changed ... if the crew doesn't mind i could alter the scm for you ....

These surprised me that they do actualy look rarther good - and it's only a GeForce 4 MX440 64mb (I forgot to turn on the AA so I touched them up a tad in Paint Shop Pro).

 

I'll have some of the other 2 Islands in a few hours.

Here is my personal main.scm. It includes a speedometer/car damage meter, my flying De Lorean code, and the spawn buttons are sprint and duck. The spawn also generates a deluxo (the De Lorean) instead of the hunter. If you want that, you're welcome to use it.

i dont know if this has been suggested or done, but id recommend an uninstaller so that the "common people" know how to get rid of it after trying it out.

 

yeah, make sure its clearly labeled a beta if it does get distributed.

 

i fully support this action if it is taken colgate.gif

 

i think this was a great accomplishment and it should be known.

i dont know if this is the right place to post, but im having a problem with the radio stations.

 

since i have to have the vice city cd to play it always plays the vc radio. i spent about a half hour converting all the gta3 stuff and now it wont work... sad.gif

 

any fixes?

That would be cool. I'm using a PS2 dual shock controller right now and if I could press all four shoulder buttons to do the spawn trick that would be perfect.

 

Next Weapon + Previous Weapon + Target + Center Camera = Spawn PCJ/Hunter

 

^If you could modify it to use that button combo it would be much appreciated.

 

Edit: Even the Sprint + Duck combo that CraigKostelecky is using would work for me.

sorry if this has already been mentioned but

if u try and change the player model from fido back to tommy or a new one it completly f*cks the game up, when u try to load it up it crashes

i tried putting the fido model back in but it still crashes confused.gif

There are certain button combinations that the code can't interpret. Next weapon + previous weapon is possibly one of them.

Major publicity has been achieved I looked at codenamevice earlier and that has 3,000 d/ls aleady and still going up so alot of people have d/l this. wow.gif

Demarest, I must say I respect you for your "GTA3 authenticity" attitude. I must say, even the cars that look similar in VC as they did in GTA3 are still different. Even the Idaho has a different grille.

 

The VC Sentinel definately would not fit in LC. Its got the whole 80's front spoiler, busy-ness thing going on.

 

I just thought the Washington, Virgo and Greenwood would definately be welcome additions. The Greenwood is old anyway, and with maybe a few colour changes would fit right into the poorfamily group. Ditto with the Virgo.

 

But the Washington is the wild card. I mean, I've been to NYC many times, and there are many big Lincolns and Cadillac sedans wafting around. Some of them are owned by limousine services, others by old people etc Even if you just chuck the Washington in the "poorfamily" group, it'll be a very, very welcome addition.

 

The Packer is a fun vehicle, the PCJ600 a livelihood for GTA-ers. And we couldn't go without helicopters. colgate.gif But the Washington would be a realistic addition.

 

When you think about it, GTA3 had a lot less cars than VC. Because, it was the first in the line of 3D GTAs. So, they couldn't do such a large-scale parody on New York City, which Liberty is heavily inspired by. So, they cut down the cars they wanted. Who knows; the design for a big Lincoln luxury sedan could be in Dan Houser's recycle bin.... turn.gif

 

Just please, Demarest, can you let us keep the Washington? Just change the colours a bit.... It'll be good, and it will go really well with the city.

 

Wow! That was long. wink.gif Just let me end with a few notes:

 

Excluding EV and gang vehicles.

 

Cars that were dramatically changed in VC from GTA3:

Esperanto (different shape), Sentinel, Stinger, Banshee, Cheetah, Infernus,

Stretch, Taxi, Landstalker, Pony, Rumpo, Coach, Trashmaster, Bobcat, Mr. Whoopee,

 

Cars Mildly Changed:

Manana, Linerunner, Yankee, Mule, Moonbeam, Cabbie, Flatbed, Stallion

 

Even the mildly changed cars are different and have a different "feel to them"

 

 

 

 

 

BTW Dem, I can't help with peds - I have absolutely no modding expertise. I can edit pedgrp and that's about it! biggrin.gif

Hi there Here is my thrupence worth for what it's worth, the fact that this mod is being recognised by widely published magazines is high praise indeed, even the last big moddable game, Doom, didn't get this much attention, OK the t'internet wasn't as big back then but hey ho. But what you need to do is look at it logically:

 

Positives:

1. More exposure to the mod, the modding community, and GTA

2. Attraction of more talent to the mod if the team would accept

3. The blagging rights of the members (which could help your careers if anybody was to go into this full time)

4. From R* POV more sales of GTA3, Vice and SA possibly due to exposure

5. Those with 56k, like myself could get a copy easier instead of having to wait an eon for it to download or rely on mates with Broadband

 

Negatives

1. Still bugs to sort out thus the BETA tag

2. Still not a total conversion/port/mod* (*delete as appropiate) although if the bugs were sorted out it could be clearly marked as a map and sprites (to use the old term) mod.

3. A burst of sudden interest which could get swamped down when the interest in SA kicks off (although it's still at a guesstimate a year till the PC version, the important moddable one) this could also mean that some poeple might expect any new developments ie SA improvments to be included when you get round to doing a BETA v2 or whatever etc

4. Still needs to be soak tested, its still 5 months till SA comes out 1 month of that will be packaging/distribution/magazine testing etc 2-3 months of that total soak testing to ensure bugs can be ironed out before packaging etc and another month or two to finish the game structure (yes i know the maths isn't good, but its bendable)

 

if you can think of any more then this could also help influence the desision you make, ladies and gentlemen i hand it back to you

I'm still not sure why this mental hurdle eludes so many. We've modded the game. Everybody's modding the game. You can mod the game. If you want something in there that isn't in there, put it in there! Our job is not to dictate what stays and goes; we pattern GTA:LC after GTA3. Once it's on your PC, it's totally up to you how to enjoy it and that's the beauty of it.

I remember your work originally for the GTA:LC files and I have invited you before to pitch in if you're able. You never got back to us. Plus you seem to disappear for large portions of time...

i'm a really big fan of custom models (if you dont know what it is you should check the "Vehicles" section).

I'm not a coder, so i cannot do that, but including new codes for those 24 cars i think it's possible, their appearance ingame etc...

someone should try to make a mod with all cars available and with the DMagic1 wheel mod preinstalled. that way people will be able to have more cars to replace in game.
