Here's a little known trick about downloading from sites like geocities. When you click them, you get a message that says something like this file cannot be found. But the address of the file you were trying to download is still in the address bar of Internet Explorer (I'm not sure if this works with other browsers)

 

Anyway, move your mouse cursor over the IE logo that's on the address bar, right before the http://... Click and drag that icon to the display window, the file should then open.

1,600 just from your website? That's more than I thought would have it totally. I 'm starting to wonder how many people have downloaded this mod.

That's why I really don't want to know the numbers; because I know that it is FAR greatest than all of us fathom combined times two at least. That was my point in the legality thread: it's too out there now. Nobody could stop its development in parts.

I tried to remove the HUD using photoshop, but it didn't look great.

Would've been better without the HUD, IMHO.

I'll post the 56k-friendly version, split into 5mb pieces, but only if Dem or someone else higher up tells me to, I don't really wanna confuse the situation by adding different files unless it's allowed wink.gif .

All I've read is praise praise praise. Sure you'll get the "OMG OMG!, but what about this." This is a BETA and is an evolutionary process. This release spent at LEAST 3 weeks of behind the scenes time being tested. It was as bug free as we could get/notice based on the people that had access to it. The more people you give access to it, the more bugs that will be exposed. This is an evolutionary project and therefore will never be finished. So what do we do? Relase a beta v1 one day, v1.01 a week later, v1.02 the next day, etc... Way too messy. The beta has already served above and beyond its pupose. We're human. We're not going to be judged by the bugs in the BETA, but rather what we do about the notification thereof. From day one, we've done this mod for the love of the game and the sake of the mod itself. It would be foolish of us to instill upon ourselves additional invisible pressure just to meet the timetables of another company's needs. The beta was released and downloaded XX,XXX times already. You can't now change the definition of what that file is. What we CAN do is what we've been doing from square one: release individual updates and compile a list of all released updates since the beta v1. After enough of them are released, we can make a beta v2 and then add on a column to the official mods table to indicate which betas are missing which updates. Now that we gave away the whole mod in a single package, we have that luxury now.

EDIT: Now that we can edit models in the VC engine, my modeler and skinner have a nice quantity of work to do. I'm thinking about new outfits and wear to put them.....have you thought about this at all? Were you planning on putting clothes pickups back in, and if so, where? Near stores all over Liberty, or were you planning on 'hollowing out' some building and maybe creating a mall?

INH, you know I have a lot of respect for you. Don't go wearing it down with such questions wink.gif Our aim is a GTA3 port. The finished product will be as close to GTA3 as possible. So anytime such a question comes up, just ask yourself "was it like that in GTA3?" and you will have your answer.

 

My Chameleon mod gives clothes pickups to GTA3.

No worries, it's that perfectionist in me trying to escape again. I can live with that decision, we made it as a group a while ago so I can't pretend I don't understand. Considering our foundation's a lot more solid than the one we've been working off the last few months it should work out just fine.

 

I reckon an faq's probably will to be needed though, although judging from how successful the big red lettering in vehicles is it's going to have to be pretty damn special. While it's being assembled perhaps an faq in progress thread might be an idea, this is after all a community project, so maybe the community as a whole should help write it. wink.gif

Any other overhead thread we've made has been largely ignored, but having the thread gives us that much more foundation for redirection which will save time/effort in the long run.

@James: While I recognize it is a matter of taste, I rather prefer pics with the HUD.

 

@Pierce: There's no need to make posts saying you're GOING to be doing something. Just post once you have. And don't bother posting just to say sorry. These types of posts are considered spam and helped you develop the reputation you have.

I never asked for all the credit. As "leader" my job mostly consists of dealing with all the PR and acting as hub for communications. Every group utilizes a spokesman. But I've never asked for credit as such. As far as I'm concerned, the author is The GTA:LC Team. It is good to have A name in there though so that those with questions have SOMEONE to ask if they're not aware of the forum etc. You would not believe the amount of PMs I get daily that would be better served as posts in the LC forum or worse; food for the site's search engine from being answered 100 times already. Take the amount of redundant questions you see in this forum and multiply it by 3 and you have my daily PM garbage count as it pertains to LC alone wow.gif

hello there, I pm demarest about this, but his pm box been getting full of annoying pm's like mine hehe

anyway, I asked a person Nickname Thatbastard to become part of the team (when he has the time)

he knows alot about the sfx.raw file, since he has made mods that replace sounds originals

anyway, his expertise in that department will help the audio part of this mod to move along

 

I myself will try to learn this stuff (with lessons from him) and provide a hand

but for me, that will not happen after my last final, which is june 11

 

anyway, thatbastard mostly hands at theborg forums

probably someday, when he starts work, he will post here

Yes, the handling of the PCJ600 is a little off. Why? And what's the difference?

It is more difficult to do a wheelie, and something else seems a little off. Please, I'd really like to get this fixed. It's my favorite toy in my favorite city, and this handling difference is bugging me.

There is an updated handling file in the "GTA:LC BETA v1 OFFICIAL UPDATES " folder. It fixes the wheelie problem.

The deaddodo flies through the hilltops in Shoreside Vale, since it's up so high. The police helis may also have altitude problems in that area.

 

Right now I'm hardlocking whenever I go into the Redlight District near El Burro's phone, but that may be something I did....it probably is, since no one else has reported it yet. I'll look into it more.

Actually, the whole file (can't remember the name) that says where is the rain/garbages, police helicopter can go, and the place where there is something bellow ( that make the camera to go down) would need to be redone, I didn't saw any fixes of that after the city was moved....
