Most of the hard work in converting the 32bit textures has been done. Aztlan's not only going to be finishing off the process, but he'll be adding a measure of quality control. As he said earlier, this area is one of his specialities. cool.gif

@Dem - On the GXT front, I'm afraid I'm all GXT'd out (if that makes sense). Spending 2 months getting my VC GXT into a happy shape kinda blew my mind, but I'll be happy to provide an update to the LC Radio thing we were discussing earlier. The plan for me is to get the order of the stations right. The thought struck me that it might be a bit strange driving around, and the station you expect to be next isn't. Easy to do, today or tomorrow sort of thing. Just make sure you use CyQ's editor, v1.2 is bug free. smile.gif

 

The other thing I meant to ask is whether it's a good idea to start updated the info.zon file now, or should we wait till you've moved the world over? It would be a pain doing it now, then having to change it once the world's moved... I can see it now 'Oh, you moved my world!'. Erm, okay... wink.gif

once i finish i will ask the borg (friend of mine, is the administrator of theborggaming.com)

to host the file

because the file is going to be big like 14mb (the ones killer.ip is sending me right now) + the ones i am going to convert

Althought it hasn't been discussed enough, I thought the general concensus was that moving the city isn't justifiable with what few fixes we would gather from it. Modifying the city boundaries would be more productive, but we can't be sure it's possible. Difficult situation there.

 

Don't worry though; already have CyQ's editor. Even things in GTA I don't regularly mod, I make sure to grab the tools for wink.gif

 

I've already tried messing with the ZON files. I tried copying GTA3's over directly. Didn't seem to do anything or add the loading back in. Skidz's post about what RDTG did makes me think it may be defined in the EXE. If so, I hope soembody changes it back.

I just converted the gta3.zon to navig.zon (for VC) everything is fine except for one things, I added all the info in the gxt, but as soon as I put more than 25 location names in the navig.zon, the game crashes after some seconds of gameplay :\ when there is all 31, there is weird yellow light behind the player....

To Knux and anybody else considering GXT conversions/modifications: PLEASE be kind and document EXACTLY what entries you're changing and what you're changing them to. This is going to be very necessary as the code progresses!

 

 

I've already converted my radio stations in order...I'll edit in a full list in a minute.

 

EDIT. Bah...I lost my list of the original filenames, but they're not too hard to figure out.

with 25 zones in it, we get some reallly weird colors things to happens!

 

in this video (5MB Divx 5.0.3), just look at the sky, nothing else, the attraction is here (sky and clouds) other stranges things like that will be in screenshots:

@TheAnswer: The "bug" you're experiencing is going to be specific to your machine and/or your files. As you can see, there is nothing wrong

I see two possible problems. 1) Your IMG file is messed up. Open up gta3.img in IMG Tool 1.3 and tell it to Rebuild Archive. Also double check to make sure helirock.dff, helipolice.dff, and heliradio.dff are still in there. 2) When you went to do the airport fix, you commented out the wrong lines. Check data/gta3maps/landsw/landsw.ipl Assuming you have the fixed COL file off my site, you will only need to have one line commented out here.

quick question am i the only one experiencing problems with PineCreek-Skidz's Cull update

everytime i install it my game starts

then i see a light yellow/orange color on everything and then the game crashes

i know thats the culprit because i have tested it

the gta3.img is rebuild

Demarest i now see what blaer was talking about i was running trying to steat a moving taxi and this is what happen

i think is best to move the spawn vehicle thing to another key

EDIT: Weird. it happens randomly, now sometimes when i run it doesnt happen. one needs to be carefull

I like it man, looks kinda mellow, psychedelic sunset that goes on through the night... could be a mod in it's own right. yin-yang.gif

That's because the airport fix was originally listed as commenting out 3 lines in landsw.ipl Krutchkov later discovered that with my COL fix, only one line was required to be commented out. Maybe those shadows are one of the ones that USED to be needed to be gone, but not anymore. I try real hard to keep my version of GTA:LC as current as possible.

to whoever dowloaded my paths before this reply, please download it again as I made a small fix.

 

@Aztlan: no need to worry about that, you can have both islands with paths: using the path editor, import both, and then export it and you will have a single file. You can also copy and paste, using the notepad, the paths from one file to the other.

TheAnswer: Hey, im sorry, I kinda screwed up. I removed the helis from the airport because they were just the fakes. I just forgot to remove the shadows.

I hope real heli's can be put in thier places cause, whats the point of having fake heli's? One of the reasons we did this was to be able to use the heli's and bikes in Liberty City.

Aztlan: You have acouple posts with some problems, are you refering to the CULL file?

 

knux: I feel your pain, I remeber this problem with the mysterious yellow light and it still illudes me.

I thought it might be some area light (Like the neon glow in some areas of vicecity at night), but thats not the problem.

May I assume you're redoing it with the helis put back in? They are there in GTA3 and there are way too many together to replace them all. I've alread coded it so that the helipad there has a heli and I've been TRYING to get one to replace the one on Kenji's roof with no luck. The code for the one at the airport is actually written to erase the dummy model there and replace it. I'm surprised it doesn't crash when it goes to turn off a model that's not there.

 

Was there anything else you pulled that we need in there?

 

Until Skidz releases an updated version with the helis back in, you can just add these lines to data/gta3maps/landsw/landsw.ipl at the end before the first word end

[EDIT] I ALSO just realized that the offending shadows line was also omitted with the "update". This is bad because the escalator problem is being explored and if we can fix it the right way, we should be able to just recomment the line back in to have it be more like GTA3. So also add this line

I hope that's it for all of the omissions. In the future, I hope others will be willing to double check with the rest of us before just yanking things out of the game that were in GTA3.

Hi folks, just thought I'd post the news that I've made a breakthrough in fixing the 2D problem with streetlights & vegetation:

If you recall, we were having difficulty with either ZMod crashing on import of the model files, or the alpha textures rendering opaque after being saved. The workaround for this is just to use models extracted from the original GTA3's IMG file, fix the single sided problem, then save them in the VC format.

 

As far as I can see, this means that it's now possible to correct every 2D surface in the game. xmas.gif

This mod is great, but I have a couple of requests. I would really like to see the spawn set up differently, as at the moment I seem to be accidentally spawning a chopper and a bike almost every time I get on/off my bike. If it could be set to a completely seperate key so it couldn't happen accidentally, that would be great.

 

Also, it's fun finding all the hidden packages but there needs to be a save facility so you don't lose your progress every time you leave the game.

 

Apart from those points, this mod is awesome and keeps getting better with these updates. Keep up the great work guys smile.gif
