Now that I have some money, I was wondering if there are any good metal home videos.

I'm not talking just live DVDs or anything, more like old VHS tapes. I know of an Anthrax live video, the 2 Megadeth ones, Cliff Em All, and the Ultimate Revenge ones.

Now, are there any other good ones?

I think Maiden must have some good dvds.

I agree with you Uno. Not many bands still have that kickass thrash sound.

By the way, have you had the chance to hear the new Exodus cd yet? Killer stuff. Two songs from it I recommend are Altered By and Deathamphetamine(sp?)

i have it but i havent listened to it yet.

i just end up picking something else out because i always think of how bad "impact is imminent" was.

hope its better than that crap.

I think that Iron Maiden are a bit overrated. They had some good songs, but they're really more of a glamour band, in my opinion.

I don't really think they are. Not as much as Ozzy and some other bands.

In other news I picked up The Jester Race/Black-Ash Inheritance from In Flames and I love it. I'm probably going to get Whoracle next from them, but I have to ask a question, does newer In Flames suck as much as people make it seem?

Speaking of Exodus, I just ordered Pleasures Of The Flesh and Fabolous Disaster off of Amazon for a little over thirty dollars.

@Scar I heard a song off of In Flames last album Soundtrack To Your Escape. I think it was....well it was something shadow. It sucked hardcore.

What are your guys thoughts on Deicide? I'm listening to the song Scars Of The Crucifix, and I'm really digging it. I think I have a song or two from Leigon on my computer too. Any other stuff from them I shouyld check out?

Their newer stuff is, well, nu metal. To put it this way, kids put them in their compilation mp3 collections along with linkin park, powerman 5000 and evanescence. cry.gif

I agree with jllr here, they're definitely that stupid nu-metally modern rock sh*t sound ever since RtR. You could hear the change in clayman too.

yeah those 2 exodus albums were great, which is why i was so let down that impact totally sucked, just boring.

deicide seems a little heavier than most of the stuff you listen too.

they are good nevertheless, my favorite album was the first self titled one.

legion is also pretty good, havent heard anything after that so dunno bout newer stuff.

if you plan on listening to anymore death metal id recomend some of my all time favorite death albums,

you may want to write this down. wink.gif

ill leave out most of things i know you already listen to.

sepultura- arise or beneath the remains

gorefest- false (just great)

brutality- screams of anguish (cannot stress enough how good this album is)

carcass- necrotism, descanting the insalubrious (f*cking awesome, a must)

napalm death- harmony corruption

pestilence-consuming impulse

benediction- the grand leveller

anal c*nt- morbid florist

brutal truth-extreme conditions...

morgoth-cursed

malevolent creation- retribution

monstrosity- imperial doom

carnage-dark recollections

terrorizer-world downfall

aphyx- last one on earth

comecon- megatrends in brutality

obituary-slowly we rot or cause of death

entombed-left hand path or clandestine

deceased- luck of the corpse

bolt thrower- war master or the fourth crusade

athiest- unquestionable presence

morbid angel- altars of madness

i just realised i love making these lists. tounge.gif

anyways, every one of these albums is legendary in my opinion.

not all of the albums by these bands are though,

so i reccomended the best ones.

if you want great death metal look no further...

Ok. I'll have to check that out too. Oh and another question. What does everyone think of Doomsday Machine from Arch Enemy? I like "Nemesis" but I don't know if the rest of the album is good. Is it? Or would I be better off buying an older album.

It sucks. It's really boring, and it actually makes me tired when I listen to it. No joke. It's boring. And all the solo's in there are annoying as f*ck.

But "Stigmata" and "Burning Bridges", that's where it's at.

Do you guys know any good stoner metal bands? I already have plenty of High on Fire(although seeing HoF live wasn't impressive). Doom metal-wise, I have Sabbath which is good of course. I once heard a Bongzilla album (i think...) and it was cool. Of course I was stoned.

Doom/sludge, you gotta go with the classics: Crowbar, eyehategod, old Paradise Lost. I've tried to listen to the new school sh*t (stoner) but so far nothing comes close those. Bongzilla is ok. They basically ripped off eyehategod's sound.

Katatonia rules, er, I find them alot more melodic then your average doom band. Whatever, Renske is my hero. Get October Tide.

Lately I've been ODing on Bloodbath, Despised Icon, Dragonlord, and Broken Hope (between cleaning up from Katrina).

Speaking of which, has Dragonlord come out with anything other than Rapture?

Same friend that gave me Number Of The Beast gave me Sin After Sin by Judas Priest yesterday. Sinner imo is the best song on the cd.

I got a chance to listen to "Ghost Reveries" the other day at Hot Topic. Pretty, cool. Although I'm really crazy about the screaming stuff.

Anyway news.

Droogies!

Well, I am back at home, have decompressed from the plane, celebrated my official birthday (thank you all for the wishes, gifts, cards, and emails), and am getting over a helluva bout with tour sickness. I don’t know if it is something I got at the last show, or I was just sick all along and finally putting the Big Redheaded Machine into park has allowed it all to catch up with me.

Anyway, as you know, Megadeth put out “The System Has Failed” in September of 2004 and after touring the world, excluding the last four remaining dates south of the equator it has been a tremendous success. Sure there were hard times with putting a band together, taking the painful barbs thrown by people who didn’t think (or want) me to go on, dealing with guests that I could not spend the time I had wanted to be with them or that they had wanted to be with me and the ensuing problems that followed that, and lastly the constant sickness that followed the tour.

Add to that the legal matters, like leaving Sanctuary, trying to get the Greatest Hits together, trying to get the DVD together containing all the old videos and threats from people not to be included or wrangling with other licensers to get permission to use the footage, and you see how this was a feat for me or anyone to pull off.

But I did, and it would never have happened without your love and support, and undying encouragement. I will never forget this last year. Seeing all of you around the globe was a delight for me, but even more so to see my band meeting you all and how loved you made them feel.

So, this thing called Gigantour was born at the last minute, and because of my relationship with bands that went out with me and Megadeth, I feel we had a great time. In retrospect there were a few things I would do differently, but not much. It was a sad day when we lost Dillinger Escape Plan, and when the time came to say, “So long” to Dream Theater and Symphony X, and we were all disappointed with the Dry Kill Logic bus breaking down and not having them finish out the tour, but I believe they know how much I loved them and was grateful for all of their time we shared until we said goodbye.

The last shows with Anthrax and the remaining Gigantour 2005 bands; Fear Factory, Nevermore, Life Of Agony, and Bobaflex came and went too fast. I have only the best things to say about these fine bands and wish them all tremendous amounts of success in the years to come. I also believe that if Gigantour continues on for as many years as I hoped that we will see them again. If not, I hope to grace a stage with them somewhere else in time again soon.

Lastly, to you, the fans that came out to see the "Blackmail The Universe" tour or Gigantour . . . what can I say other than you made my dream come true. I love you and am indebted to your faith in me, in the other bands that you may have been fans of and came out for, and importantly most just for supporting our scene. As I write this letter to you all we are already starting the necessary work to make Gigantour 2006 competitive with the inaugural run, and I hope to make even more friends out on the “Killing Road” with people like yourselves, and the bands that stood by me. Check back in every once in a while to see when I announce the next Gigantour, the next year’s talent, and when and where you can see us again.

I usually close concerts with, “You’ve been great, we’ve been Megadeth, goodnight!” but that just doesn’t seem right today. I think that you’ve been more than great and we’ve all been Megadeth! Time will crawl for me until I can see your faces again and deliver the goods to my North American friends.

I love you my Droogies and She Wolves!

Come on Gigantour 2!

Source.

Gigantour 2, anyone?

I still haven't got the album yet. I turned it down last time along with Dragonforce for The Jester Race, and next time I get a cd I'm getting Sonic Firestorm from Dragonforce, so if I have enough money for another cd I will get that too.
