I just bought the new Flotsam & Jetsam, "Dreams of Death". Not as good as "Cuatro" or "Drift", but definately a must have.

Is it thrashy? I looked at it in Best Buy and I wasn't sure if it was worth it. confused.gif

eeehh....it's thrasy....but could be thrashier. They've sort of lost their touch in their old age, but it's still worth buying.

my favorites "no place for disgrace",

its real old and i think jason newsted was still in the band.

dont let that deter you, or the elton john cover,

its still a kick ass album with some real great songs.

"he takes the dagger that lays before him

collects his thoughts for the last time

then plunges the dagger from left to right

no sign of pain in his face

one final blow he draws the blade

loyal companion by his side lifts the sword to help him die"

not sure if those are exact but i like those lyrics from the title track about the japanese warriors who would commit suicide if disgraced.

Ted Nuget > Sharkey

Truth.

that black slime growing underneath my bathtub > groovyman

you like ted nugent?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

go jerk off to some megadeth videos or something...

Ted Nuget > Sharkey.

Been listening to Shovel Headed Kill Machine alot lately. Really liking it alot. Though Gary Holt said on the Exodus forums that it wasen't the final mixes, so I wonder what the final mixes will sound like.

And I do believe that no place for disgrace was the last with Newsted, but I'm not big on F&J, so I could be wrong.

i aquired a couple new cds i thought you guys should check out.

one is the new gorefest, ive been a fan on and off since the first album and i think this is probably the best one since then.

they sound a bit different than i remember but still great.

its a little more accessable, although still heavy.

dont know how i ever missed this one but a few years back obituary released a live album named "dead".

i could be biased being a long time fan,

but this sounds like the best live recording i remember hearing.

people that like them should definately pick it up,

along with the new album i unfortunately havent heard.

so yeah, check em out. smile.gif

Forgot to mention, but my Friend gave me Number of The Beast yesterday. Tis my first Maiden cd blush.gif It totally kicked ass.

I don't own any Maiden CDs, but I picked up the "Visions of the Beast" DVD set recently. I love the "Run To The Hills" music video. "Two Minutes To Midnight" and "The Number of the Beast" are pretty cool as well.

Lol mine was Live After Death, and whats really pathetic is that I didn't care to read that it was a live album and didn't notice it was LIVE After Death till I put it in. Still its still my favorite live album today, and Iron Maiden is still one of my favorite bands, hence the sigs.

I'm getting Powerslave next. Speaking of that, I recently got The Essential Iron Maiden and while it is great for the most part, I find that a few songs were missing, most notably to me Hallowed Be Thy Name and Powerslave. confused.gif Hallowed Be Thy Name isn't on Powerslave but still.

Cool, I'l do that.

I don't know why, but I'v been listening to She Wolf by Megadeth a hell of a lot lately. I used to really not like that song, but seeing it live changed my mind about it.

Latley, I have been getting into power metal a lot more these days. Any suggestions? I might be picking up a couple new cd's soon too. I've been listening to a lot of Dragonforce and Hammerfall latley.

?

Lmao. I keep forgetting about that album, but then again I'm sure a lot of people did. Plus I don't think it would count as power metal anyway. rolleyes.gif

Boo.

I just picked up an album by "Paradise Lost" its called "Symbol of Life" I've never really heard of 'em before but I wanted to have a go at listening to somthin' new. I also grabbed onto some Iced Earth, and Candlemass. So far I kinda dig 'em.

Here is my problem I'm really into thrash metal. Mainly the the old school Metallica, Megadeth, and so on... I also like the progressive metal thing as well. I think progressive metal is the way to define it... Rammstein and the like. Anyway the problem is most of the newer bands I *try* to listen to that fall into these generes, have lead singers that just puke into the f*cking microphone for the whole duration of the song. I mean they basically get in the way of the music. I listen to hear the guitar, the drums, the bass... you know... the band? Not some attention whore on a microphone.

So my question is this... Does anybody here know of some newer bands that follow a more traditional line? I've about wore out all my old sh*t.

I feel you, man. There aren't many bands making old school thrash metal. Older bands that are still making good sh*t:

Destruction

Kreator

Sodom

Exodus (debatable)

Megadeth (debatable)

Overkill

Here are some non-old school bands that make relatively thrashy stuff, though most of it can't be considered "thrash" metal:

Dew-Scented (follow the old school thrash sound, not the vocals)

Primal Fear (more of power metal, debatable as well)

The Crown (more deathrash)

Byzantine (debatable)

Chimaira (debatable as well)

Like I mentioned before, there really aren't newer bands pumping out that old school sound. Here are some old school bands that you may/may not have heard of:

Exciter

Razor

Raven

Thanks for the recommendations man... I'm downloading a few songs from each right now (yes I paid for them). I'm also listening to some preveiws, and so far I've only really latched on to Destruction and Kreator. I also just happend to run across another band called Samael that sounds pretty good to me.

Bleh... maybe I'm just too anal. monocle.gif

Thanks again though.

I agree with you Uno. Not many bands still have that kickass thrash sound.

By the way, have you had the chance to hear the new Exodus cd yet? Killer stuff. Two songs from it I recommend are Altered By and Deathamphetamine(sp?)

Oh yes I also forgot to mention, is anyone into Immortal as well? I've known about them for awhile now but just really started getting into them. Can anyone reccomend me an album or two from them? I will most likely be picking that up with whatever power metal album I pick up.

If you give me a release date, I will just go pick it up. Exodus needs no previewing from me. wink.gif

Exodus - Shovel Headed Kill Machine 10/4/05

Digi posted it on the last page. I asked because besides gary, everyone else in the band is different. The new sing IMO is like Baloff, except a little deeper, raspier, and with just a hint of Souza.

Stratovarius.

"Elements I" is a good album from 'em.

No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.

Now that I have some money, I was wondering if there are any good metal home videos.

I'm not talking just live DVDs or anything, more like old VHS tapes. I know of an Anthrax live video, the 2 Megadeth ones, Cliff Em All, and the Ultimate Revenge ones.

Now, are there any other good ones?
