Okay awhile back Moon quoted AC/DC as Blues Rock so i'm just asking if he can elaborate on that so i can stop arguing with my friend.

Cheers.

Well, Moon...

I myself consider AC/DC hard rock.

It's in the guitarwork. Listen to the riffs. Heavy blues influence there. While many rock bands are based off of the blues, often the sound strays from the actual blues to become some other form of rock. A lot of people consider them hard rock, which is pretty acceptable, but a lot of the sequences in their songs are all too familiar with blues guitarwork. But you know, whatever works. What did your friend say they were?

Megadeth rules. Bought their Cryptic Writings and Risk albums this week. Not their best, but still funky as hell. Megadeth!

AC/DC are both hard rock and blues rock. They have some bluesy tracks, and some hard tracks, and some in between.

Yeah, when you listen to their earlier stuff with Bon Scott, their sound is a lot more bluesy.

I think I like Bon Scott better than Brian Johnson. Back In Black kicks serious ass, though.

I bought The Megadeth greatest hits cd today. I got the limited edtion with the bonus DVD. The first thing I did when I got home was watch the DVD and look at the case. The case is that digipack kind were it folds out. The cds are held in slipcase type things. The case ends up being kind of like a book. Theirs some comments on Megadeth by Penelope Spheeris, and then the song list, who wrote each song, and what album their from. Their's also a list of how each of Megadfeth's capitol releases did on the billboard charts. Now the DVD.The Kill The King video I had already seen on the Megadeth site, but it's a cool video and a good song. The Arsenal Of Megadeth trailer was cool, I will be picking up the DVD when it comes out.

Than their's the real meat of the DVD, which is a live performance at the Filmore auditorium in Denver during the Risk tour. It was also Marty Friedman's last performence while being in Megadeth. The track list for the show was Prince Of darkness, Holy Wars, In My Darkest Hour, Hanger 18, Sweating Bullets, Symphony Of Destruction, and Peace Sells. It was a good performance, Mustaine's voice sounded a bit funny during Holy Wars and Symphony, but overall, it sounded good and has me even more stoked to see them in September.

My only complaint about the DVD is that you can Barly hear Marty's guitar. I had to turn up my speakers alot just to hear it. But with them up, it sounded good.

Overall, a great purchase. I'v just started listening to the CD. That track listenig goes like this:

1. Holy Wars...The Punishment Due

2. In My Darkest Hour

3. Peace Sells

4. Sweating Bullets

5. Angry Again

6. A Tour le Monde

7. Trust

8. Kill The King

9. Symphony Of Destruction

10. Mechanix

11. Train Of Consequencies

12. Wake Up Dead

13. Hangar 18

14. Dread And The Fugitive Mind

15. Skin O' My Teeth

16. She Wolf

17. Prince Of Darkness

I like the track selection. Alot of Megadeth's classics are represented here. I like the inclusion of Angry Again from The Last Action Hero soundtrack. But I would have liked atleast another song from So Far...So Good, So What! Maybe Set The World Afire or Mary Jane. It's also a shame that they could not get the rights to anything from Megadeth's albums after leaving Capitol records. They do have Dread And The fugitive Mind, but that was on the Capitol Punishment: The Megadeth Years cd. I'm sure that if they could have gotten the rights to their latter albums, they would have used the live version of A Tout Le Monde from Rude Awakaning, Blackmail The Universe, Kick The Chair, and The Scorpion or Of Mice And Men from The System Has Failed.

Well, Finished listening to the CD. All great songs. I'v also relised that She-Wolf would have worked so much better as an instrumental because the lyrics are just corny as f*ck.

I like how you jacked Sebby's post wrapper.

Douche.

Anyway, this greatest hits CD sounds like a real f*cking score. I'll have to get mine with the DVD. Been waiting to see some killer f*cking Megadeth footage.

Got Dream Theater's Octavarium. The Root Of All Evil is my favorite track along with Panic Attack. Overall, a good listen. (I Walk Beside You is more upbeat than most of the songs on the album. Strange.)

I agree, its a brilliant album altogether. The track Octavarium is sheer brilliance, the 24 Minutes goes by so quickly. On another note has anyone heard the new Opeth Track "The Grand Conjuration" and does anyone know when Ghost Reveries is out in the UK?

Yeah man, I love how Root of All Evil is like a revamped version of This Dying Soul. I freaked when LaBrie started singing TDS's lyrics. It's very catchy for a Dream Theater album, but I can respect that they're being pretty experimental, and still pulling it off well. The biggest problem I have with the album is that Petrucci seems to play down and Rudess seems to play more up. I wanted more rad guitar stuff.

Anyway, this greatest hits CD sounds like a real f*cking score.

<!--EF-->

Besides for the fact that it's missing some actual great hits off the CD and replaced them with sh*t. "Trust"? "Angry Again"? Those songs, although classic, do not deserve the "Greatest Hit" title.

I'll save my money till the "Arsenal of Megadeth" DVD comes out. dozingoff.gif

Trust does deserve to be on it, seeing as it was Megadeth's biggest hit chart wise. May not be their best, but it does deserve to be one it.

Isnt TROAE, the third part of a Trilogy of Songs based on the same theme? It would seem This Dying Soul is the second part, Root Of All Evil is the Third part. Whats the First Part? I just checked the lyrics for Root Of all evil and it Starts with "VI - Ready" when I checked This Dying Soul, it was made of two parts, the second part was labelled "V. - Release"

On another note has anyone heard the new Opeth Track "The Grand Conjuration" and does anyone know when Ghost Reveries is out in the UK?

Yeah, they have the track on Roadrunnerrecords.com but you have to sign up or something. The track itself has a pretty dark tone to it. The site should have the UK release date as well.

Yeah I got that message on Myspace just now, and did it, listening to it right now, I heard it before when it was posted here but still, I like it.

I'm pretty sure there's a link somewhere in this topic to the song. It was ripped from Sirius.

There is a better quality version of it out. The song "Ghost of Perdition" has been leaked aswell, not great quality, better than the sirus "Grand Conjuration" rip, though.

No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.
