Isn't the new Slayer album coming in October?

No, that was proven false or as a rumor.

Uno knows, because he posted both things on it.

In Flames is pop metal. Same category as Dimmu Borgir tbh.

Most people on this planet equate pop metal with hard rock. Bands like Van Halen, Guns and Roses, Motley Crew, Def Leppard....

If you're basing your opinion on album sales then I'd point out that genres are based on texture and composition, not album sales.

You're probably mixing up pop metal with nu-metal. Of course Dimmu Borgir is definatly not nu-metal.

Dimmu Borgir is melodic black metal. I could care less about in flames, I don't even like the old stuff.

JCab, what do you think about Destruction and Dew-Scented releasing new albums? Both heavy hitters in the thrash game, and Destruction has been around since the early eighties, so they have some well-earned knots on their belt.

Actually, I really don't listen to much thrash... I like it, but there's too many bands out there and I usually stick to the extreme stuff.

I did watch that video at www.destruction.de. Seemed alright. I don't like the vocals so much, but it sounds good for thrash. I listened to the mp3's at www.dew-scented.de. They got a bit more potential. I'll check 'em out.

Why do you ask, you freakin on these bands?

Haha, dude:

A) You are a book of metal knowledge

and

B) I am a thrashead. Have been since day one.

If you want extreme thrash metal, get Dark Angel Darkness Descends.

Speaking of thrash i listened to some Annhiliator and Testament and thought it sounded a bit dated, like 80s porn. Any other thrash bands you can point me towards?

people who have discussed music with me in the past would know that i really don't give a sh*t about all these genre definitions. when i say 'pop metal', i mean metal which appeals to any generic MTV-watcher. and that's what these bands do. though dimmu borgir might not be as mainstream, they're bad enough.

I put on the the TV today, and the Metal radio station channel.....thing on my TV was plaing this Dimmu Borgir song. So I'm listening to it, listening to the lyrics, and then it hits me, this is a Twisted Sister song. It was Burn In Hell off of Twisted Sisters Stay hungry Album. It sounded so bad, it was disgusting.

GetawayInStockholm peeps head in door

Oh, sweet.

Man, SOAD is coming in September to Vancouver. I'm so going.

Go to BestBuy.com and go to Arch Enemy's new album. What is supposed to b a 30-second clip is really the whole song. tounge.gif.

Godsmack, metal?

Anyone here listen to Symphony X? Would it be more progressive, or metal?

Symphony X is progressive metal, so you're right on both accounts.

And I don't suggest mentioning Godsmack in this thread.

Godsmack is about as metal as Yanni.

Godsmack has some pretty okay sh*t, but everything they have is too repititive. Same sound in every song, like AC/DC.

Careful now, the Metal Mafia is snooping, don't say anything about Godsm...*gets shot*.

Anyway, on a whim, I downloaded this NIN industrial remix of Megadeth's Symphony Of Destruction. Not the best, but it's badass nonetheless.

I could never get into NIN, and their latest release wasn't anything to get excited about.

Hey Moon, could you give me some older reccomendations? Like releases from the 80's and stuff. I tend to like the stuff from the 80's alot. Any bands come to mind? Minus the really popular bands like Slayer and Megadeth. I want to try out a new band I haven't heard much from.

I've been looking for Sodom all over the place. I've heard a couple songs but sadly they weren't all the way through. I wish I knew where I could find them.

Last time you were here you were talking "pop metal" bands like Symphony X and the genre prog metal. Now you think Dimmu Borgir is too mainstream for you and you don't care about genres. If you think Dimmu sucks then fine but don't say their sold out because they're f*cking metal warriors from the old days and you're nothing.
