anyone going to Ozzfest this summer

Ya I was thinking that if there isn't any other fest this summer I'd go to Ozzfest, for the hardcore bands.

Hopefully they won't have any gay "Edge" bands but they propablly will. It would be killer if they could get Cro-Mags to reform and to get Agnostic Front on it would be killer too.

Cro-mags and Agnostic Front on Ozzfest? Dream on. It'll never happen. But I'm pretty sure Biohazard played it back in the day.

Biohazard... hmm... I've never liked them. Aren't they hardcore?

Ya that's why I mentioned them.

So when did this become a hardcore topic, eh? Eh?

We like grindcore bands here. ie: Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death

And, talking about concerts, I am going to see Cattle Decapitation and Cryptopsy next month. Along with Lamb of God on a different day.

It should be fun for all!

Man, Cryptopsy is awesome live. I don't care what people say about Flo's hyperblasts being weak. I've contemplated trekking over to the NE Death Fest this year; they're playing there.

I was kidding.

Here is what I've been listening to lately:

Kreator - Enemy Of God

Annihilator - Never, Neverland

Children Of Bodom - Follow The Reaper, Hatecrew Deathroll

As for you Death Angel fans, they just released a boxset February 1, 2005 entitled Archives and Artifacts. Search CDNow.com for it. wink.gif

Opeth will be entering Fashination street studios on March 15 to record their 8th yet untitled opus. The band are currently in rehearsal mode, which is a rare occasion having recorded the last 4 records without rehearsing. The recording will be overseen by the uprising recording mogul Jens Bogren. As of today no names for production duties have surfaced and it looks like the next record will be a band produced effort. Nothing has been decided regarding who's taking care of the mix either so we'll have to keep you wondering.

Opeth and their management have spent the last month meeting the 5 top label candidates for the next Opeth recording contract. The names are still secret but a decision will be made very soon and obviously announced here earlier than anywhere else.

Several Summer festival appearances have been confirmed and will be posted here soon. A Summer tour of the US has also been confirmed and will be posted here soon as well. The matters are still very "hush, hush" so we can't say anything more at this point. What can be said is that the band will make a few low-profile apperances prior to the next release and several full blown headline tours all over the world after the release. Take your rest now!

I can't wait for the new Opeth album! And hopefully there are some tour dates relatively close to me, or else I'm gassing up the car for a cross-country road trip. wink.gif

I haven't seen them live, but it's going to be awesome I bet..

Do you read posts? If you read I said I THINK. I highly doubt he's on guitar, it was a rumour I heard. It should be Zakk, but have you seen how broken up Zakk's been lately? I doubt he'd be able to make it through a song without breaking down. I doubt anyone will be able to. I hope Vinnie gives it his all. I mean, come on, he saw his baby brother get killed from behind a kit. Lets just hope he makes it one last time.

DimeTribute

Kinda like the LiveStrong bands, but for Dimebag.

Chris Campion of The Observer has issued the following report:

Backstage after the first show of a whistle-stop winter tour of Norway, Necro Butcher, bassist with Norwegian Black Metal band MAYHEM, is already a bit tipsy. He is gleefully reading back his own words from an article about the band in the local newspaper. "I promise not to throw animal heads at the audience in Bergen," he preens.

The last time the band played in the city, a sheep's head thrown from the stage smashed into the skull of an audience member [see previous BLABBERMOUTH.NET stories: Story#1, Story#2]. "He wasn't watching the band," shrugs Necro Butcher. "He was talking to a girl," he says, implying that the man should have known better. Animal heads speared on microphone stands are de rigueur for a MAYHEM show. "We usually use pigs' heads but we couldn't get one that night. We like to throw them to the audience at the end of the show so they can, y'know, play around with them."

He returns his attention to the double page spread, holding it aloft with outstretched arms. "f*ckin' excellent!" he slurs. "This is the first positive article ever written about MAYHEM in Norway."

To put that in context, the band have been around for more than 20 years. Their peers acknowledge them as the originators of Norwegian Black Metal (often referred to as its country's biggest cultural export), defining both its antagonistic sound and attitude. Black Metal relishes its position as the most extreme form of music imaginable.

In the early Nineties, a spate of church burnings and three grisly deaths stoked blazing headlines that described the nihilistic rampage of the satanically-minded youth. The limits of tolerance in this largely secular society were sorely tested by sensational stories centred not on the music's fans but the bands themselves. And, as far as the Norwegian media are concerned, when it comes to Black Metal all roads lead to MAYHEM, whose terrible and bloody history eclipses the debauchery of even the most hardened rock bands.

Before MAYHEM had even released their first studio album in 1993, a creepy masterpiece called "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas", singer Dead had committed suicide and founding guitarist Euronymous had been brutally murdered by session bassist Count Grishnackh (with second guitarist, Snorre Ruch, acting as his accomplice). Grishnackh was already suspected of initiating the church burnings that began in 1992.

"We couldn't really buy better publicity," Necro Butcher acknowledges sagely. "But every time we lost a member we had to find somebody else to replace them and start the whole rehearsing process again. We suffered in that way as a band."

Gnomic and gnome-like (the band's road crew affectionately refer to him as "Micro Butcher"), MAYHEM's 36-year old bassist is in some ways Norway's answer to Lemmy; a stoic veteran who has helped steer the band he co-founded in 1984 through personal tragedy and public vilification.

Drummer Hellhammer is the next longest-standing member of MAYHEM. He's also the quietest. A compact figure with darkly handsome (but distinctly un-Scandinavian) features which are immaculately groomed, he always seems to be at the centre of his own party backstage. "He may look quiet," says one member of the crew, "but he's the most twisted of the lot."

Mayhem is f*cking black metal.

Anyone of you guys listen to Vision of Disorder? Anyways, the lead singer's new band Bloodsimple has a new CD coming out in March. I got it, it's f*cking sick. No it's not hardcore, cause you know by now that I'm the forum's official hardcore kid but I love this CD. It's called "A Cruel World." I definitly recommend it. You can check out some songs at Linky.
