WILLIAM HUNG COLLABORATES WITH LABELMATES OPETH

The pop world has gone ga-ga for William Hung, the tiny, tin-eared Hong Kong songbird with the big heart. After his rejection from the American Idol tryouts, Hung's daffy rendition of "She Bangs" became a global phenomenon, and Koch International - a label that knows true art when it hears it - quickly signed the diminutive, fun-loving lad to a recording contract.

With Hung's debut album of novelty covers, Inspiration, breaking sales records for the Koch label (shipping, if rumor can be believed, in the five-digit range!), executives are looking for ways to rub Hung's magic off on their roster's lesser talents. Swedish metal band Opeth, whose "prog-rock" influences and long songs (some over four minutes!) have given them only a small, nerdy cult following, have jumped at the chance to collaborate with this little giant of the Orient.

"Are you kidding me?" exclaimed guitarist/vocalist Mikael Akerfeldt. "I spend months writing the lyrics to each of our songs, and indeed craft the music around my words. I've spent over a decade improving both my death metal growl and my 'real' singing voice. But to have William Hung - I scarcely dare to utter his name! - interpret my lyrics? You might as well ask me if I'd mind having Mozart 'touch up' a few of our acoustic parts."

Akerfeldt then turned to look down, beaming, at Hung, who was scowling and trying to read the lyrics Opeth had supplied him. "It waw me, peeing through the wooking gas, be- be- beyond the embwace of Chwist... uh... like the scared face within the taperery, like a biwd of pwey... over the kwest... and... uh... SHE BANGS!!! SHE BANGS!!! SHE BANGS!!! SHE BANGS!!!!"

"Hey, kid, save the magic for the studio, okay?" Akerfeldt chuckled, patting Hung on the shoulder.

In keeping with the William Hung phenomenon, Opeth plan to release a video for "probably his bestest try on one of our songs," the epic "Deemon of the Faw." The video will contain footage from Hung's American Idol audition, with the heads of Akerfeldt, drummer Martin Lopez, and guitarist Peter Lindgren poorly Photoshopped over the faces of judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. Badly-reproduced clips of The Star Wars Kid, the Dancing Baby, and other Internet phenomena will be added to the scenes, which will then be sent to MTV and Fuse complete with pop-up windows advertising generic Viagra.

Hung's groundbreaking work with Opeth is just the beginning. Koch's roster of other major-label washouts visionary artists is a gold mine, waiting to be prospected by this modern-day Svengali of the music scene. "I waw thinking of doing some weckords with Master P, the wappew [rapper]," Hung explained, swinging his stubby legs over the edge of a booth at a local Chuck E. Cheese. "I mean, P is just like me, he inspiwes people, and he's fwom the stweets. Make 'em say ugggggggggghwhwhwh!"

William Hung and Opeth - From Damnation to Inspiration hits store shelves May 5. In addition to first single "Deemon of the Faw," other tracks include "The Weppeuwh Affininininity," "Face of Mewinda (When She Bangs)," and "Apwil Efeeweeull."

GAAAAHHH!!!

Uno Carb rips quote pyramid out.

I like Frantic, I like St. Anger, not all of it is that great, but I enjoy the listen. And, you're wrong. Heavy double bass and technical drums mixed with solid thrash-like riffs make this a heavy metal album.

Moon, I know you disagree with me on all points.

The snare drum on it sounds like a garbage can and how is just banging the sh*t out of double bass technical? The riffs on st anger arent complex either a twelve year old could play them.

Well you know what? I like St. Anger. I'm not saying it's the best Metallica album or anything close to it. So f*ck you guys.

Everybody within the past 2 years has been so melodramatic over this goddamn album. f*ck, what would you prefer? Load/Reload or St. Anger? God Hates Us All or St. Anger? I would personally take KillBox 13 over all of them any f*cking day.

Rammstein is an excellent german industrial metal band. If you know them for Du Hast, just listen to different songs. Du hast sucks. Try songs like Feuer Frei! or mein Teil or Weises Fleisch. Amazing pyrotecnics at their live performances.Another great band is Satyricon a great black/death metal band with very good guitar. Check out the song Fuel for Hatred. Another great band is Lamb of God which is from the heavy metal scene.laid to rest is a great song as well as hourglass. Another great heavy metal band is Mnemic. Most people never heard of them but if you can listen to one of their songs like ghost or ceathbox youll agree that they are good. Old slipknot is great. Songs like spit it out and (sic) or the heritic anthem are awesome. Video website.

Their first album was sh*t too. If anything, they improved from Iowa with their latest album, somewhat.

Impious - Evilized - 9/10

Emperor Vs Thorns - 7/10

Atrocity - Hallucinations - 7/10

Behemoth - Pandemonic Incantations - 8/10

Diabolos Rising - 666 - 8/10

Lobotomy - Born In Hell - 8/10

Samael - Exodus - 8/10

Zyklon-B - Blood Must Be Shed - 8/10

Each of these albums could squeeze an exra point out of me except that I'm trying to leave room for the Bloodbaths and Decapitateds of the world.

Wow, thank you so very much, Mattalac, for your huge contribution to this thread.

Fistful Of Metal is one of my all-time favorite thrash albums along with Testament The Leegacy and OverKill Taking Over.

What I've been listening to lately:

Kreator - Violent Revolution

OverKill - KillBox13

Mudvayne - The End of All Things to Come

Metallica - ...And Justice For All

On a note about ...And Justice For All: The last time I have heard ANY track from this album was over a year ago and when I first had this album, I thought it sucked.

But now, since I have been meaning to rebuy it, I finally have.

And I have to say, this album, first to last, back to front and side to side, COMPLETELY kicked my ass this time around. I love it. This album, is by far, the definitive Metallica album.
