Here's a list of the albums I've been listening to lately, rated out of five stars.

Bloodbath - Resurrection Through Carnage *****

Mayhem - Deathcrush ***

Limbotic Art - In Abhorrence Dementia ****

Kreator - Outcast ****

Tulus - Evil 1992 ****

Behemoth - Satanica ****

Liars In Wait - Spritually Uncontrolled Art ***

Fleshcrawl - Bloodsoul ***

Luciferion - Demonification *****

Stigmathiest - It All Ends Today *****

Therion - Theli ***

Cro-Mags - Age of Quarrel ***

Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk ****

Finntroll - Midnattens Widunder ***

6 Feet Under - Bringer Of Blood ***

Angel Corpse - The Inexorable *****

Heh, that's a good idea - I'll do the same:

Megadeth - Rust In Peace ****

Annihilator - All For You *****

Lamb Of God - As The Palaces Burn ****

Lamb Of God - Ashes Of The Wake *****

Testament - Low ***

In Flames - The Jester Race/Black-Ash Inheritence ****

Sepultura - Beneath The Remains *****

Soilwork - The Chainheart Machine ****

Dungeon - A Rise To Power *****

I got a question as well. You know how there is metalcore, grindcore, gorecore and things like that... well why can't there be a thrashcore? I mean, becuase there alot of thrashy-like bands out there, that don't fit the appereance of THRASH metal. Either that, or what about post-thrash?

I recently got the Slayer - Show no Mercy t-shirt.

Weird thing is, some fags in my class were making fun of the "Tour 1983" bit on the back, and now they keep calling me Slayer tounge.gif

Also, I've been rerunning some Slayer I have recently, and I must say, I am now hooked on Seasons in the Abyss, War Ensemble and Mandatory Suicide.

Although Reign in Blood still owns ass.

And I have some footage of the Jaeger Fest last year. That owns too.

Some Ratings:

Slayer - God Hates us All ****

Metallica - Master of Puppets *****

Metallica - Load ***

Cheers guys, I'm glad you like using the rating system. It had occured to me that my usual wordy explanations of why I like certain albums obscures how much I actually like that album compared to others.

One correction, Luciferion has been going down the more I listen to it. The album has great parts but they are a bit too few and far between. I'll say it's a solid ****.

@President Paul, I've been meaning to tell you, of all the albums on the list your first priority should be the Bloodbath.

@Uno Carb, I've only reciently started to get up to speed on this issue that all "core" genres are called that because they are hard-core genres. A perfect example is Cro-Mags, one of the first metalcore bands. DRI's "Thrash Zone" and Suicidal Tendencies' "How Will I Laugh..." (two of my old favorites) could easily be described as thrashcore. But then there's bands like early Testement and Sepultura that are not hardcore yet too heavy to be thrash and not heavy enough to be death. So I agree with you that there seems to be a genre in there doesn't have a name. I haven't researched it yet so I'll let someone else take a crack at it before I do.

No, I haven't heard the new Bloodbath. I have been trying to get into Hypocrisy's "Catch 22" and I'm really having a hard time getting into it, mainly because I'm not crazy about the vocalist. So I'm not so much looking fwd to the new Bloodbath. Do you have it? and if so what do you think?

That depends on what you see as Die Hard, but yes, my two favorite bands ARE Slayer and Metallica. With metallica coming in second.

Well I wouldn't call DEP hardcore, I'd say there're tech...if there is such a thing. They're really technical, but have some hardcore elements to them, but some metal too, but nevertheless, I enjoy them, and they put on a rad show.

@DigitalMurders: Have you gotten the new Annihilator yet?

@Menace2Sobriety: "Polaris" and "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" are my personal favorites from Rust In Peace. Ooh, oh yeah... can't forget "5 Magics". wink.gif

theres an new album?

must not be the same band i seen in 88, the old thrash band.

or is it?

i seen megadeth in 89 opening for judas priest but they only played for a half an hour dammit.

wait i think ive already mentioned that, oh well. user posted image

my favorite tune by them is "liar" from "so good..."

in fact i just threw that album in bc i havent heard it in ages.

except the anarchy remake, every song is great.

i f*ckin hate punk music.

@jcab, your not alone, im sure im the senior of this thread, an old old school metaller.

when i started to listen to metal, all that was available was van halens first album and ac/dc, beat that.

but ive always evolved, except the last few years ive kinda dropped out and have no idea about the new bands.

and dont get me started on metal shirts, im sure i own them all. smile.gif

the only dillinger ive heard was that ep with mike patton. i thought it kicked ass though.

and damn i am really out of the loop, i dont recognise half the bands on the last page. never been one for black metal though.

morbid angel and deicide was about as close as i got.

@ lynk, i f*cking love that album, i listen to it regularly, devin townsend is a f*cking amazing guitarist, and having ex death and dark angel drummer doesnt hurt either. their just f*cking intense. inlove.gif

and yeah devins in alot of other bands, he even was on a steve vai album once wow.gif

syl is the only good one though, i didnt like his side projects, like ocean machine.

they need to put out more music though, a dvd would be pretty nice, ill have to look into it.

Picked up 3 albums today

Dragonlord - Rapture: With the guitarist from Testament, I've heard this album before, but never owned it. Now I do. It's got some killer BM riffs with aeirie keys.

Darkest Hour - The Mark of the Judas: One of the only metalcore bands I'll listen to, this is some rad guitarwork and some good breakdowns that excentuate the hardcore derivative of the band.

The Haunted - rEVOLVEr: A pick up from their last, disappointing album, 'One Kill Wonder', this reminds me a bit of the older Haunted with a litte added tinge to their sound. I like it.

to me Deicide and Morbid Angel are clearly death metal, but the satanism/demonism is a trait that is more commonly found in black metal so I'll cut you some slack wink.gif

I definatly see where you guys are coming from, the vocals... but black metal guys are usually screaming even more than that, and the rest of the band is totally death, to me biggrin.gif it's the low tightnes of the typical morrisound recording, so Florida, so America. The Norwegians on the other hand were all outdoorsy and echoey, but rich natural echoes like recording in a cave or a church. And true black metal never uses muted chords wink.gif

Yes but If I remember correctlly I listened to deicide - scars of the crucifix awhile back and 80% of the vocals were black metal style screams.
