Wow. This Master of Puppets cd sucks some dick. Chimaira was the only one who actually did a decent job. Disposable Heroes is better by them than Metallica.

 

Sanitarium, Master of Puppets, Damage Inc and Leper Messiah were screwed up because of the talentless sh*t they chose to cover the songs.

 

I'm mostly pissed off about Sanitarium being butchered. The vocals suck sh*t.

I'd say go for Iced Earth, Nevermore, Running Wild and Primal Fear. If you don't count Maiden, these four are pretty much the only power metal bands I like.

I still don't consider Primal Fear Power Metal.

Well I guess. They sort of remind me of Iron Maiden and if Maiden came a couple years later they'd be power metal.

No they wouldn't. And I wouldn't call Primal Fear, Nevermore, or Iced Earth power metal either.

Thad, after listening to some songs on The Politics of Ecstasy by Nevermore, I would have to say that it's a pretty good album. Not as slow as the ballads in Dreaming Neon Black, but it's a nice, good speed. So it depends on what kind of metal you want to listen to; DNB for slow ballads, TPOE for a little more faster kinda sh*t.

 

But that's just me.

Sure he totally f*cked up on Nickelback's genre but there's nothing wrong with these recommendations. Especially since it's very unlikely the kid who came here spewing sh*t about Nickelback ever heard of them.

I see, said the blind man. I don't claim to be the undisputed master of genres; truth be told I call anything I don't really like "punk". Being so young and not a music guru, I don't know much. So you have me there, and on pretty much every other point you made. Pentagon of embarrassment...meh, maybe, but because I know for a fact that I suck at genres, I don't really mind.

 

As for reccomendations, I just gave out some bands I thought the guy could get into. Simple, easy-listening bands. Sorry if you find that unoriginal, but I wasn't going to post some hardcore metal band that he probably has never heard of; there would be no point in it.

Picked up the new Sadus and new Sodom today. Really suprised me seeing both of them in FYE. The Sodom one is the limited edition with a poster. And man it is one badass poster. Also, if you thought the art(for the Sodom cd) was kind of boring(the chain gun and saw coming out of the black) you will be very suprised when you take the slipcase off of the cd, because the art is badass.
