SLAYER To Team Up With LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON, CHILDREN OF BODOM For U.S. Tour - Mar. 3, 2006

MTV.com is reporting that SLAYER will be teaming up with LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON, CHILDREN OF BODOM and THINE EYES BLEED for a two-month U.S. tour beginning on June 6. Dubbed the Unholy Alliance Tour, the trek will make stops in most major cities, although the actual routing of the run is still being fleshed out.

"It's been 18 months since we've toured in the States," SLAYER guitarist Kerry King told MTV.com. "People are going to be chomping at the bit to see us again. Our initial thought [with Unholy Alliance] was to go up against Ozzfest, because I think that tour's getting a little bit tired and I think people are tired of going out and getting sunburned for hours every summer. Every place we play is going to be indoors, with a good-sized lineup. We're certainly not going to try to make Ozzfest go away. We're just trying to offer an alternative."

On Tuesday (Feb. 28) SLAYER entered a Los Angeles studio, where they started recording the 11 songs that'll comprise their yet-untitled album. Rick Rubin (SLIPKNOT, SYSTEM OF A DOWN) will executive-produce the disc, while Josh Abraham (VELVET REVOLVER, STAIND) will turn the knobs. One of the songs has an official title ("Cult"), but all of them, King promised, will be devastatingly grim.

"There are definitely things you can't write about in SLAYER, and there are definitely things people expect you to write about," he said. "Everybody expects war, Satanism or anti-religious stuff — and this record's chock-full of that."

Most of the 11 songs SLAYER will record were written more than two years ago, the guitarist said. "We're hoping to do it old-school and record everything in like four weeks," he added. "We're ready. This is probably the most ready we've been since 'Seasons'. We've been spinning our wheels in rehearsals, just waiting for the green light on this thing. Now that we've got it, we're ready to go.

"It's definitely going to be a riff-fest," King continued. "There's riffs all over the place. As much time as we've had to work on it, there better be riffs on it. I think anybody who likes SLAYER, musically, is going to love it."

On Saturday, MTV2's "Headbangers Ball" will feature an exclusive interview with bassist/vocalist Tom Araya regarding the forthcoming album and the Unholy Alliance run.

Read more at MTV.com.

Saw that on Blabbermouth. I'd only be interested in seeing Slayer and Mastodon.

And I'd like to say the new Kataklysm album has incredible artwork. Not sure how it is, but Revolver gave it a 2, but what do they now about anything good. Though, I have heard Crippled and Broken, and it was a kickass song.

God I saw that last night. If only Lamb of God wasn't on the tour.

Ah. Seattle's a real cool place. Check out the Pike Place Market on the waterfront if you can, real cool place.

Anyways, need to talk to parents about getting tickets to the Kreator/Napalm Death show at the end of march.

Not sure how it is, but Revolver gave it a 2,

A lot of European magazines gave it scores in the eights, nines and tens. I wouldn't trust a magazine who has named Green Day the band of the year.

Thats for damn sure. Seeing as how your rocking the artork, I was wondering what you thought of the album. I was tempted to buy it the last time I was at the mall purely on the artork. Same type of thing happened when I bought that raven cd. Saw the artork, loved it, bought it, and I ended up loving that cd.

The album's good, I got it the second day after it came it. It's on the same level as Kataklysm's older stuff.

A friend of mine bought me a ticket to an upcoming Maiden show, and the special guest is Trivium. Now I have never heard a single song from Trivium, I've just seen a picture where they kinda look like Blink 182, with metal t-shirts. Anyone heard them, are they any good?

Don't get me started on how awful Trivium is.

I saw Opeth on Friday. I was actually very disappointed with the set list. The only good songs they played were Harvest, White Cluster and Closure. They played a few new songs and 3 other songs from Blackwater Park. Plus there were a bunch of a little kids there...I felt like the only Opeth fan there. I mean, when I see someone at an Opeth show with an Avenged Sevenfold shirt on...I know it's the end of the world. Dark Trainquillity kicked a lot of ass and Devildriver put on a good show, but I still don't like their sh*t.

And Slayer isn't sh*t live...but maybe that's just me because I've seen them so many times. When I saw them last year the set was terrible and the bands they were touring with sucked as well. The only band I would want to see on this tour is Mastodon.

They start their world tour from here(Scandinavia). The show isn't until November, the ticket's just came available really early.

And I just checked out couple of Trivium song's, and they are indeed sh*t. Not 'the sh*t', just plain sh*t.

f*ck yeah. They better come here. I've been waiting for an Iron Maiden show forever. I don't get why the hell they'd tour with Trivium. That's just retarded.

You don't know how priceless this quote is. I love you.

I would sit through Trivium to see Maiden, as long as I got a chance to punch one of their fans in the face. My friend punched one, I'm jealous.

hmmm should I be worried? I've latley found myself getting into more and more metal. I love all genres of music bar super cheesy pop and whiny punk (although I've been known to sing and dance to pop if I'm really pissed out my face)

Anyway any reccomendations? I really like metal where they sing not scream although I'll tlerate abit of screaming.

Stuff I've been listening to:

Therion-Coming of Atlantis

Dream Theater

Metalicca-Black Album

Megadeath

Slayer

Iron Maiden

Lost Horizon

Judas Priest

Symphony X

Opeth's Damnation material

Older Metallica

Not a whole lot I can reccomend cause I listen to metal that has "Screaming" in it.

Bolt Thrower kicks ass, they have such a great groove and the drummer just pounds.

I liked the new album quite a bit and it was nice to see they haven't changed over the years, still old school death.

So, I finally decided to figure out how to convert my cds to mp3.

I found a good program called dbpowerAMP.

It's pretty sweet hearing some of my old death cd's I haven't heard in ages. cool.gif

@Moon, I haven't been in here in ages but I still wanted to give you an extremely late congrats about making ledby. icon14.gif

I was listeneing to Neurosis "Pain of mind" today and thought of you.

edit: New Diamond D avatar up for grabs,

I made it today after watching a vid but I don't really want to wear it.

Feel free to steal...

I'm getting disturbingly into metal now and starting to scare myself, it does f*cking rock though blush.gif

Now i just need to get out and see lots of live sh*t

edit: just started listening to Lost Horizon, loving it

Do any of you guys listen to Wolfstone? Scottish pride right there, to bad pretty much the entire original band have now killed themselves, oh well! Theyre not really metal I guess more rock, celtic rock, f*cking rocking celtic rock. The progression through their album Almost an Island is suberb inlove.gif

And while you're at it, get Ensiferums "Iron" album for some good viking/folk metal.
