I also picked up A Real Live Dead One which so far by listening to it kind of crappy because of the sound

Yeah. I've never bothered picking up any of Maiden's live albums since there are like five of them, and they all sound the same. A lot of it is just crowd interaction anyway.

 

Anyway, I just picked up some albums.

 

Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden - Powerslave

Judas Priest - Painkiller

 

They all rock hard. And I like Paul Di'Anno's vocals. Bruce dominates him, though.

Yeah I got Iron Maiden today too. Its sweet, and I beg to differ about their live albums. Live After Death was really kick ass, and the sound was good not like on this one.

I bought Destruction's Inventor Of Evil and Vio-Lence's Eternal Nightmare at the mall today. So far I'v listened to Eternal Nightmare and I must say, it f*cking kicks ass, some of the best thrash vocals I'v ever heard.

I'v heard from alot of places that it was a good album. Meh, I'l work on getter there 80's stuff then.

 

Next time I'm there, I'm most likely going to pick up Nuclear Assault's Third World Genocide. I'v heard the tracks that are up on NA's myspace and I really liked them.

If you are digging stuff from Ghost Reveries, give Beneath the Mire a listen next. Thats a pretty good song too.

 

Anyways, does anyone own that In Flames live DVD? I forget the name. I saw it today and seeing that it had a few tracks from Whoracle on it plus a couple from The Jester Race, I almost bought it, but I didn't know if it would be worth it.

In my opinion, half of the tracks on Third World Genocide are pure sh*t, like they were made by some other band. The other half are atleast decent though. The whole album seems like it was made in a hurry, some of the songs sound pretty pathetic. Pretty disappointing album if you ask me.

Nah I'd say Damnation was their worst album, althought it's still a pretty good album.

I recommend getting (in this order): My Arms Your Hearse, Still Life, Morningrise, Orchid, Blackwater Park, Ghost Reveries, Deliverance, Damnation.

 

Opeth are one damn good band, I don't think they have a single song that I don't like. They are damn near flawless.

I found this at another site, its supposedly a story about Dave Mustaine while he was still in Metallica.

 

 

 

One of the major arguments within the band occured when Mustaine decided to bring his dog to a rehearsal. He usually left it to guard his stash of heroin before he sold it, but on this day he brought it along. As they neared the building where the band were to play, Ron McGovney (the Metallica bassist at the time) was pulling up in his car. Dave's dog immediately began scratching at it and climbing on the bonnet. McGovney was angry and started shouting at Mustaine. Next Hetfield emerged from the building and did the same. Things got heated and Hetfield kicked Dave's dog.

 

 

Mustaine threatened to hit James and Ron said: "If you're going to hit him, you'll have to hit me first." When Mustaine turned to him James added: "If you're going to hit Ron, you'll have to hit me first." To this Dave replied: "You win James!" and punched him. According to McGovney, James flew across the room. Ron then jumped on Mustaines back, was flipped and thrown against a wall. The other band members then got up and told Dave he was fired. He quickly left after collecting his stuff. The next day he went back to the rehearsal room, walked through the door and asked: "Can I be back in the band?" "Yeah, ok." Came the reply.

IMO All Maiden albums are some kickass stuff, except FOTD and Blaze-era albums... :F

 

Di'Anno was good, heard about his newer stuff?....awful! His cover of Symphony Of Destruction

 

What about that Painkiller? How high up would you put in priest discography? It's mine fav, more a lot of Speed Metal influences and even some Thrash.

It's actually my first Priest album, so I wouldn't know where to rank. It's quite good, though, so I'm sure it would rank high.

I just heard the worst cover song ever. Cradle of Filth's cover of Fear of the Dark. I mean holy sh*t. I have heard some bad covers before but that has got to be the worst. There wasn't even any vocals in the beginning. Just terrible.

Well Graveworms cover of fear of the dark doesn't have vocals about 2 minutes into the song, but it has an awesome violin into, and is just all round awesome.

MAYH

Morningrise

Damnation

 

 

I can only pick those out because they are the ones I listen to the most, but blackwater part and Orchid will probably replace them since i'm listening to em now.

EDIT - @Trows - Wait? Violin intro? The one I listened to had that. Thats pretty much the only part I liked, then everything came on and the quality of the song was so sh*tty that I had to turn it off.

Yeah. Especially the track "Harvest". That song still gets to me.

My favorite cover is Vader's cover of Raining Blood. Sepultura's cover of Angel of Death is pretty badass too. Or Anthrax's Whiplash.
