[SA] Myriad Islands

Errr, don't double post. Depends on who we get as a mission scripter. Ideally, all the stuff that was on GTi as far as stories will be scrapped.

 

But for something else to think about now, when we get down to having a story, so we block of the other islands from use like in GTAs?

 

Does anyone have the winning story line? Maybe I might have a brainstorm later and think of some missions.

Yes Cran in that topic are enough of nice storey lines and i see that barton is looking in it too so im hoping we will work on something for myriad. Altough i have did something on mission coding too , i worked on a small destruction mission but im not sure if i will make it an official one. Just wait and see.

I really like Myriad island/GTI i played it in Vice City too but my friend dont like this well he dont even install any mods he just want to cheat in MTA confused.gif

suicidal.gif shoot me tounge.gif i havent looked at the starting date, but i still think that there are really some nice ideas in that need realisation for some missions in myriad i may want to spend some time on it after my presentation week, still 3 weeks maybe 4 weeks of school to go, and then again a Driver license test dont ask me how many times i failed already its just to much. so hope i can get something done in the mean time.

A central storyline won't work for MISA. People will disagree about what the character should do, we can't afford any proper voice actors and everyone will know what happens before they even play it.

 

I think the best type of mission setup for MISA will be like some of the classic GTA1 user levels. Basically, all you have are a range sub-missions which you can do whenever you want. We could have:

  • import/export cranes;
  • triathlon;
  • street races;
  • time trials from GTAVC (helicopters, PCJ600 on rooftops, remember how cool that was?);
  • trucker missions from GTASA;
  • stadium stuff:
    • dirtbike racing;
    • motorcycle obstacle course;
    • destruction derby;
    • and stock car oval.
  • restaurants;
  • valet missions;
  • paramedic;
  • firefighter;
  • vigilante;
  • taxi driver;
  • girlfriends (use the characters and audio from GTA3);
  • hitman phones;
  • ice cream seller;
  • eating;
  • exercising;
  • shooting skills;
  • gambling;
  • railway freight missions from GTASA;
  • shops from GTASA;
  • arcade games from GTASA;
  • gangs which like or hate you as in GTA3 and GTAVC;
  • turf wars from GTASA;
  • hidden packages/horseshoes/oysters;
  • and other RPG stuff from GTASA.
Basically, all the sub-missions present in GTA3/VC/SA could be placed into MISA. It would make MISA a truely free-roaming, open-ended environment without requiring any voice actors or storylines. There would always be something to do.

 

We could add some custom stuff, such as:

  • duck shooting thing Odie made for MIVC;
  • rotating restaurant;
  • lottery (make part of GTASA gambling system?);
  • new arcade games?;
  • new stadium events:
    • monster truck racing;
    • stuntman (basically do Insane Stunt Bonuses, Two Wheel Bonuses, maybe add some custom stunts too);
    • go kart racing;
    • RC car racing;
    • aeroplane racing (can the AI fly planes well enough?);
    • stunt plane (fly through a timed course carrying out stunts at the correct moment);
    • use Cargobob to pick up and move things against the clock;
    • and maybe other stuff?
  • chaffeur missions (like taxi missions but using a limo and getting passengers from posh locations);
  • coach missions, where you go from the depot to random bus stops, picking up and dropping off people. At level 1 you pick up or drop off 1 passenger, at level 2 you do 2 passengers, etc, until you run out of time (a lot like Firefighter missions in GTAVC);
  • and other stuff like this.
So, there's endless sub-missions we can add into MISA quite easily to make if fun to play around in. smile.gif Edited by Cerbera

Yeah , but in a certain part of the game (36 days passed ingame) you'll be called by the agent (yes ,the agent who you worked for in MIVC) and you'll make some missions , not too main , but just for unlock things (like MIVC wit the Chef) . Later when you unlock illnorth (maybe a days passed thing or a part of a mission) you start working for a punk gang who is in war with a southern styled gang .

 

Using the punk gang that was made for MIVC and making 3 gang models for the other gang and the midget guy from SA as a boss... biggrin.gif . You end betraying all and you end as the king of MI!!!

Cerbera: I agree with open ended game play for the reasons you mention.

 

I don't think any of the islands should be locked from the start.

 

How about property ownership with side missions.

One thing to add a lot more of, Grand Theft Auto! Like the VC Sunshine Autos missions, only more of them all over the map.

Impressive Illspirit i see you have got the train bridge and part of the track and tunnel on their nice to se that. And you also redone those other 2 bridges? Really nice. Hope to see an Bugfree and polished up notrthern islands soon. That really looks like a time consumming job that you have done with widening all the roads.

Side missions based upon property ownage.... this could work indeed!

The only downside to this I can think of right now, is that there wouldn't be any real goal throughout the game. Unless ofcourse you start categorizing the properties according to price.

 

For example:

- 3 properties wich each have 3 side missions: 0 - 10000 MI$

- 4 properties wich each have 4 side missions: 10000 - 30000 MI$

- 5 properties wich each have 5 side missions: 30000 - 60000 MI$

- and so on...

 

One way to have a sort of storyline is to unlock the 10k - 30k missions only when you've finished the 0k - 10k missions, and so on...

No offense but i think its stupid to still have odies' lot (the unfinished one) reserved . He died, i mean how is it possible for him to give us the lot. I think it should be given to someone else interested in builidng spaces for illcom (i stand for illres/illurb).

 

EDIT: Ah alexg ... you'll have to wait until they lunch the development kit (for modding the northern islands) . Unless you Really need to make a commercial building. If not you can get beside my lot and locO Gs' in our gheeto.

 

This map shows where locO G's lot is(red). My lot is to the left (blue) . You can take one beside (yellow). I Cant make sure you CAN get the lot until Cran confirms or illspirit releases the things to mod it (textures).

Yeah and when you own enough you get the final missions! Just like in VC!

I think that we're talking about a 'money based' game play system.

 

No (unrealistic) police 'bribes', unless one had earned them during previous missions, pay to use the Pay 'n' Sprays instead.

It may also mean, no weapons pick-ups for free.

Have gun shops, yes, but you have to pay (unlocking weapons as one progresses).

Jack a car, rob a ped, you need the money to buy that body armour or extra clip.

 

Not having free pick-up points (easy money) would be the impetus for commiting petty crime in the first place (it's not as though we pay tax).

 

Unlocking elements of the game, based upon acquisition of personal wealth, (although I abhor it), has possibilities.

 

We could show the 'RPG' world a thing or two, by having any number of ways of 'winning', driving a taxi, selling 'drugs', taking the capitalist route and 'owning' MI blah, blah, or being the the vender of the finest vegan food this side of anywhere.

 

Open ended game play. Go where you want to go, do what you want do, be who you want to be.

I have a whole crew of 4-5 lined up for voice work! The PEDS crew (including me). I still think we should have a main story line.

 

But the idea of having different ways to win sounds good. But even then, the game would be better overall if we could introduce some main characters, we don't need a voice for the main character, we could do it GTA3 style.

But I didn't give permission for Alexg's lot, and he never said he wanted it there.

 

@lord fido. I see where you're coming from, but alas you are a bit ignorant as of yet. That lot had most of the work finished when Odie passed away, and steve-m (I believe) has the files for the lot, or is still trying to get them. The lot will remain as it is.

 

Also, you're going to have to take the whole sqaure lot. illnorth lots are not going to be small like illcom, and they will be everything you've selected (Yellow and blue in that box.)

 

They are all big chunks in between the streets.
