Cerb, I'll see your 'won't buy the next GTA', and raise you one 'walk away right now'. If 2.0 really does block mods, I have no desire to help promote someone's game with mods they claim to support but do the opposite.

 

That said, I'm still not sure that they are blocking mods. It could be something silly like the two guys complaining that it does simply screwed something up.

First Stages

The latest render was linked to me my illspirit a day or two ago. Since the islands are moving, this render just gives a loose indication of how much of the environment is going to be taken by the current MI islands. Getting a top-down render of Necrosis at this same scale would be very useful for the planning. Will the islands take long to move in the modelling programs so we can get the render we will actually work from?

 

Ye. Someone already spread this render image in PPT or MI SA Conversion. Thus, we can make 9 BIG islands. I now create a basis for my island (if you do not want to put it in Myriad, I use it in other purposes) and I'll show progress soon!

 

About underground:

For this purpose it is necessary to make:

1. Station. Will suffice 1 model.

2. Tunnel: To simulate in 3dsmax all. Steve M. already spoke, that in SA Col-limit < 13000 faces.

3. Possible to use a train from SA, but better to make new.

 

 

If possible, all the buildings on illCOM should be shown.

It is possible simply write in README, that this mod for SA v 1.0. And others (who not in time buys games) let search v 1.0.

 

I guess unless an experienced modder gets version 2.0 we won't actually know

You are almost right. In Australia v 1.0 have forbidden!

Do you know that for sure? Did you get the v2.0 exe and check?

I looked to see if I could download a v2.0 exe, but to no luck, most of the pages returned by google were bogus and totally unrelated.

I hope it is just 2 silly guys who somehow screwed something up, but it doesn't look like that. R* are taking the cowards way out, and are submitting to the likes of the anti-game crusaders. Do they really think they are going to get anything from blocking modding? A large portion of PC GTA game sales are for the sole purpose of modding the game. If they really are selling us out, well lets just say f*ck Rockstar.

 

 

EDIT: Everyone check out the San Andreas PC features section.

They've edited it to say: 'Player Modifications support, giving PC gamers the opportunity to create their own world within San Andreas (*Please note this feature may be limited in the second edition v2.0 release)'

 

I think it's certain now, the bastards have sold us out, and are continuing to mislead us, limited my ass, try completely stopped.

Uhm, wow. What a fuc*ing annoying thing to do. Why is R* worried about us making mods. IT WAS THEIR FU*CKING FAULT THAT THEY LEFT SECRET CODE IN GAME! My support for R* just went down a bit...

Just keep the modding alive and just dont update who is saying updating is needed. We all got a decent pc that can run SA so we dont have much bugs i think.

Dont imitate, recreate or copy just get your own ideas. Simplicity makes difficulty easy

NO. The developers of the MI realy love GTA (or no? smile.gif). To make such game on new engine very hardly + it is necessary to make new animation, physics...

There's no need to cancel Myriad Islands because of v2.0 since there are millions of v1.0 copies that people can use Myriad with. If GTA4 doesn't support modding then we can just keep developing with GTA2, GTA3, GTAVC and GTASA. There's still a healthy community who play GTA2 and a lot of people play GTAVC multiplayer, so I reckon GTASA will be a wortwhile modding platform for a few years yet. smile.gif

Rockstar just lost my respect, why couldn't they just be smart and modder friendly like Valve or Dice? these developers make moddable games and create modding tools. meanwhile publishers like EA and Steam actually encourage modding.

 

god dammit.

That's right. IMO people who bought v2.0 got screwed. That's too bad for them....but waddaya gonna do. We can continue with v1.0 (or 1.1?).

 

When you see that after VC and SA, people are still playing around with LC, I'd say Myriad has got quite a few years left to go on.

 

And the question about wether GTA4 will be modable is not a priority for Myriad I think. Hypotheticly: what if R* would have decided that SA was their last GTA, and there wouldn't be a 4, would that be it for Myriad. Would you really, right now, say : 'that's it, let's call it a day??'

I wouldn't. I'd stop if I didn't feel like it anymore, or people'd lose interest in Myriad. But not because of this...

I think it would be a good idea to make some pre-modeled parts, and piece them together, i.e, you could make a left/right short turn, left/right long turn, s bend etc. You know, kinda like the pieces you see in Roller Coaster tycoon.

Yeah, when we do get around to modelling the train track, it's all going to be modular pieces which can be easily pieced together and re-used, only making custom track sections where necessary. This way we save a lot of IDE slots, game memory, work and effort, and so forth.

Tomorrow I'll put some effort into looking at the map of Myriad and planning an appropriate track.

I think it'd be more work, because you have to plan the track more exactly, and it takes some time to assemble all the parts so they fit perfectly together. It would be much better to have unique parts. It just needs modelling for example a 20m long track piece, which is then copied, welded together to a long one, and finally path deformed. Also, this way we could have realistic prelighting on the tracks - if we were re-using them, parts that are rotated 180° had sunlight comming from the wrong side, and that'd look odd, wouldn't it?

 

The ammount of IDs is no problem in SA. And btw, there the roads and tracks aren't re-used either, that's only done in GTA3, which was modelled by a bunch of noobs.

who really care's if SAv2.0 is unmoddable ?, we all mostly own V1 from the sounds of thing's anyway, if Rockstar want to be completely stupid and make GTA unmoddable thats a big mistake for them financially as it will only encourage the use of pirate copies of SAv1.0.

 

as for buying SAv2.0 i won't be doing that, i've already bought the game twice both for PS2 and PC unless it is moddable and has the mass of mistake's they made in V1.0 completely rectified.

 

will there be future GTA's ? i have felt since i first played SA that this could be the end of the line now, with the exception of hang glider's and skateboard's there really isn't much that they haven't already done in GTA.

 

most of you have failed to realise that all this fuss could just be because SA had the "Hot Coffee" stuff kept ingame, if you look on R* North's website you will see they have job vacancy's, i wonder if they fired all the people responsible for leaving that content in or could it be that this is just another one of R*'s now legendary PR stunt's cashing in on controversy ?

 

another game engine? yeah right!! what engine could possibly give us the freeform gameplay that VC or SA has ? i haven't come across one yet. the choice is simple SAv1.0 or VC and we currently have Myriad running on both!! so we might as well forget v2.0.

 

if anyone from R* games are reading this thread ........... YOU ARE A BUNCH OF F***ING IDIOT'S !! for leaving the "Hot Coffee" stuff in SA and causing all this SH!T over low grade childish crap!!! NEXT TIME MAKE IT HARDCORE!! as the game already has an "18" on it anyway in the UK, then there wont be all this fuss over nothing !!!!
