I forgot to mention this in the readme. Right is you press close on teh BWInstaller and you get a message saying Quit? Say NO, if you get no message its installed fine the BWInstaller just stopped showing the data. I belive Barton fixed this for my next version though.

I was talking about fixing that, but I didn't, because it would either mean writing a custom control for that status text or faking it with a basic like string array. Sollution is to put CLS commands below all IMG CLOSE commands in the base install script. Maby I'll fix that status text buffer limit later. Anyway, if adding custom vehicles, radars and other custom stuff is made an option in next versions of the package installer, that text buffer will be big enough. I think those added options will be needed to debug Myriad by simply playing it. I would also like to see an option to install an empty mission script. Any future installer without these options wouldn't be a good thing. A base install for all custom mission objects would be a good thing. A base install for all reused objects like plants, restaurant furniture, posters and the like would also be good. Has this already been done ? Or are you people making your lots dependant on other peoples lots ? I saw ODIE's Myriad Mansions being dependant of Myriad Skyline being installed because it uses the duck object from it.

 

I wrote this new custom installer for Myriad. It doesn't work as a self-extracting exe. I don't think that's needed anyway because most (if not all) installer packages support running executables during or after unpacking. Link:

If it hasn't been done already, could you remark the sign on Planet Myriad (jasonb_myriad) in the ipl because I got a scripted rotating version of it in my newest script.

 

And if you for some reason didn't feel like separating some of those custom aspects of it like the custom cars, please add some CLS commands to the base install script. Sorry for repeating myself. blush.gif

 

That dialog there doesn't look right. It doesn't look like that in win2k. It should be larger. It calculates the sizes of everything based on the size of that picture and the size of the fonts in there. I tested it with all types of pictures and it worked as it should in win2k. Damn MS and their Windows XP. I guess I need to create another version that compensates for Windows XP's apparently larger dialog windows (or whatever). There shouldn't even be a bloddy border on that window in there. AARG. blink.gif

Are you saying people can't steal whatever you create already ? Ofcourse they can. They can download single lots, steal one single texture and release it on some underground private forum in a place not invented yet. blink.gif

 

This is needed for mission scripted objects anyway because the current way of detecting lots wih the mission script is just plain stupid. Wanna know how it works ? An invisible red barrel is placed in a spot where a lot is supposed to be in. If it doesn't fall, the lot is installed. If it falls, there is no lot. If that code for some reason fails, the mission script tries to draw up mission scripted objects it thinks is installed simply because that stupid barrel fell. Or tipped over. blush.gif BTW, no flames needed because it usually works. Like 99 in a hundred ? Never counted really. blush.gifblush.gif

if we submit "work by work" or "object by object" it will be easy to steal but when it's in 1 big pack it's hard to steal

Has anyone made an object.dat topic yet? I can't find it so I guess not, but I could be wrong... Maybe we could have a competition of some sort. One week: new tree for the palm, second week; new boxes, ...and so on.  smile.gif

I did. I believe it was pinned too. Do we really need one ? The bwinstaller handles it. And I'm sure GT-1 updates it too with his installer package. The installer needs to handle it anyway because it needs to be compatible with what's installed.

 

edit: What's in the base 'object.dat' is ofcourse another matter. Please hold, I'll take another look right now and make another list.

 

Stuff that I wouldn't mind getting tossed. Not sure if any of these have been added. Somebody check. blush.gif I need most of the stuff in there. And most of it can be replaced when needed.

Well for the jackass type thing i think theres four ways you can go about it 1 have it as either a r3 mission and seee how much damage you can cause in the give time to your viechle. 2. have it as a rampage type mission and see how much damage you can cause to yourself in the given time 3.have places set around like unique stunts but instead there called uniquestupidity or something. 4. have them set up as missions like in vice where it tlls you what to do and you have to do.

 

if someone can make a skateboard that doesnt look stupid then i reckon there should be a mission for thos. It would be something like you had to get a certain amount of points in the time limit. also if someone did make a skateboard would it be possible to make it jump like the taxis did?

 

I reckon there should be a mission for the romero hearse, your working at a failing funeral parlor, it seems with the lack of weapons and mostly friendly atmosphere miriad has become a practically murderless society. so you are hired by the funereal parlor to go around in a romero hearse and kill as many people as possible until your car explodes or you get busted etc.

 

last thing if anyone makes a mall there should be a shopping trolley parked there and you would have to do a mission in it. its the shooping season and the mall is having an everything must go sale and boy do the woman go mad at this time of year. this would be (a) like destruction deby where you had to get all the checkpoints in the time and with the woman trying to kill oyu or (b) have a race through all the checkpointsagainst the other people. either way you should be able to chuck grosserys out of your shopping trolley which would damage other people.

I found that memory address and I believe I have everything I need to add full memory hacking functionality to the Myriad script to enhance stuff into oblivion. If I pull it off, it will be totally based on CyQ's reverse enginering skills, his memory hacking (or real memory access) script code for GTAMA and a memory address I found in spooky's scm hooking tool. Seriously, there would never have been a Mission Builder without people skilled in disassembling executables and I would never get anywhere close to the world I'm now venturing into. cool.gif

 

edit: Let me just change this one more time, giggle cream missions is good, unique stupidity stunts are good because some ramp, stairs and such are placed in places impossible to get a jump from. If anybody STILL manage it, Unique Stupidity Jump it is. And that I already put that in doesn't matter at all. Maby it got removed or something. The word stupid was never put into that GXT anyway, I'm pretty sure of that.

When exactly did people stop releasing single lots ? When did the world change in such a dramatic way ? When on gods green earth will people be content with an undebuggable installer package that causes the game to crash without anybody at all knowing why and without anybody knowing how to fix it ? Would such a thing make you happy Snow Racer ? Does ignoring everything I ever say or do get you high in a ways nobody knows anything about ? Not even me ? Will you do the debugging when everything else fails ?

the atmosphere thing can be adjusted to a certain degree buy editing the timecyc.dat or what ever the hell the weather file is called... Remember how dark VC looked when it was cloudy, or rainy.

And im glad you all like it, kraxxuz has found all the eggs so I guess he gets whatever the prize is. Spaceeinstein has listed most of them even though I asked people not to post them biggrin.gif Doesn't matter now since kraxxuz has won. There is a ton of Simpsons references in there. Anyway now im off to make something else for Myriad, probably not another lot though.

Sorry to say it JasonB but i experienced some unstablity at your lot maybe its me but it crashes sometimes at that round shaped building and when i ran hard into it im trapped inside it maye you should take a look at the colfiles.

but yet still i like it. And that bar it seems like you copied it from like the simpsons Bar called Moes tounge.gif just joking it looks great hope you can take a look at some of these small bugs.

Dont imitate, recreate or copy just get your own ideas. Simplicity makes difficulty easy

I thought you had fixed the problem already as I dont get it anymore. It's probably because I cut custom vehicles from the main package now and put them it there own X folder. But I never get any stops now on the scripts it always runs straight through to the end. smile.gif

 

Oh yeah this newer one iwll be around 37MB, is there any need for a package thats split into volume's for 56k'ers? Like 3 files split into 12MB or so each, would this be helpful?

 

I could probably get this release out pretty soon, im just waiting for illspirit to get back to my PM.

I wonder actually how many it has had, in regards to hits I mean. When I had a counter running on it, it was upto 4k downloads after a couple of weeks. I doubt it went up too much more after that, but you never know I guess. Thanks for the mirror.

 

Just been testing this version (0.3) and it seems to be stable, same as 0.2 was. Ive re-wrote about one-third of the install scripts so far as I changed the files around a little. Fixed up some of teh newer lots so it shouldn't be too far away from a release. smile.gif

If you're interested, I can tell you that at this moment in time you can add 1024 torrent downloads to those that have got it from one of the mirrors. Saving those mirrors 36.26GB of bandwidth. smile.gif

 

As soon as I notice the next release, I'll create a torrent for it too.

Has the Myriad Planet sign been coded in yet, as there is no sign present on top of the pole and I though it had been coded. Ok maybe I was wrong it was the unique stunt jump. Nice work on the lots JasonB.

Fixed some errors around the newer lots and lined things up in regards to ide and ipl, I keep getting a texture bug with sadistics new bridge in Moo Mapper, so i'll ask him about that sometime. Odie's Skyline is the only other lot that shows problems in moo mapper but that was in the last release.

 

Seems to run stable for me, been messing around with it for a few hours in total with no problems as of yet. I could really just re-write the read me and finish of the installer and release it. Just need to srt the hosting with illspirit first though...

You know, I never just take people's code and put it in like you say here. I rewrite people codes and put them in, with their names on them, like if it was their work. You probably didn't mean it like that, but with a spammed up code like this, you gotta wonder. It's like it has everything ever corrected in the mission coding forum. Like you're some old member in there with a new name.
