I reccomend you alter it slightly and change the word "Porsche". I think we all know how Demarest feels about spoofing companies or products and remember, even if we are distributing this mod for free, companies can still ask for us to remove any references to them or face a lawsuit (see: Boston Pizza incedent).

A while ago, one of our modders (either TheUnAmerican or CanadaMan, I forget) made a texture mod for the pizza shops in VC to make them Boston Pizza shops, which is an actual brand of pizza shop. When he released it, he was contacted by Boston Pizza themselves and was asked to remove his mod or face his site being shut down and a lawsuit, because they didn't give permission for their brandname to be used.

 

I've re-written the Vehicles List topic, and I'm about to start a new Vehicles Discussion. If people think it's worthwhile, I'll make a Weapons List topic, but seeing as none of the guns have been released yet then it's a bit pointless. Barton has been removed from his led-by position and his actions are being discussed in the mod cave.

OK, phase two of operation Barton-cleanup. The last discussion topic got completely wiped of my posts, and seeing as I'm the vehicles guru, that's kinda a major problem. So here we go again.

i think what ill do is everyone who makes weapons should just release them and everyone can make a choice in what weapons they want

 

or once everyone is done with the weapons there can be a vote in what goes in the final version

Me too.

I've just been skimming the script, Barton did some really good coding, but I doubt it would be easy for others to get into it.

@Opius and Steve: Thanks for the vote of confidence. It feels good to be recognized as a coder of such a level. (BTW Opius, I had already begun doing a little VC coding)

Ever since I saw Myriad taking off, I wanted to be able to contribute. I was in a bit of a creative slump myself and wanted SOMETHING to do. A project this large is awesome too.

 

HOWEVER, there's several reasons why I simply can't. For one, I simply do NOT have the time to keep up with so many people making so many modifications simultaneously. Nor do I have the will to constantly update the files etc etc. Way too tiresome. I'm not saying anything bad about this mod or the people involved in it, I just know that I would not be able to hold up my end and I don't want to do that. Especially to so many people.

 

And of course (no drum roll needed as you're all already aware) there's GTA:LC. I have been waiting to be able to participate in that for about 5 months now. Suddenly the files are released and I'm already heading up an effort to do a direct port of GTA3 into VC's engine. As Opius has already stated, my obsession has always been with GTA3 and after months of various individuals/teams wasting time, I finally have a chance to do something about it. It's also refreshing because I thought that I'd never be able to top Timetwister. Now I have a chance to as well as my first shot at coordinating a public effort (though much smaller than Myriad and therefore more manageable). Needless to say, it's very important about it and I feel even more vehement about it than I did with Timetwister as evidenced by the fact that once I got the files, I spent almost all of the next 40 hours modding and such for it (without sleep).

 

Again, I appreciate the vote, but I cannot accept. I would let you down for sure. While on the subject, I think Opius would do a fine job, but I think it would be a crime to put him in that position. His Virtudyne mod along with his mind; he has the potential of a TC with that IMO. I think it would be a shame to see such a thing postponed. I'm sure Barton can handle it and if he's as much like myself as I suspect, being stripped of the modship would be more than enough to teach him the lesson. I think he should clam down and resume the scripting position and I think those working on this should be a bit more patient as he HAS done a whole heck of a lot for the community. This doesn't excuse his behavior, but I think it does mean we should try to tolerate a bit more from him than we would the "average" member. I'll stop boring you lot now.

Barton, you are definitv the best in case of missionscripting and there is NO ONE who can replace you 100%. So i hope you will continue to lead the missionscript, but dont lead the forum or the project, this will make to much trouble. You are a good Missionscripter, not a good leader. Iam a good Modeler, not a good Missionscripter... everyone has its own abilitys and we all should use our bests and respect the abilitys of the others...

I hope everyone will exept Bartons excuse and we can keep on a good work with the best modders, thats world ever seen...

When I searched the net for Cyberdine, I found several small businesses that had borrowed the name. I think we're clear.

 

I just finished the script for the first Chang's mission:

 

 

Chang’s missions:

 

There is a gate next to changes that is partially open. The mission start location is in the gap, so that the player must go through it to enter.

 

Mission One: Wang Fao Mongolian

 

Scene 1 – EXT/DAY

 

Marco walks into the alley. He looks around briefly for anything of interest, shrugs, and turns to leave. When he spins around, a Chinese chef clubs him with a frying pan.

 

Scene 2 – INT/DAY

 

Marco wakes up in the dining room of the penthouse atop Chang’s. He is laying aside a Japanese-style kneeling table, across from a Chinese man in his forties. He speaks with an accent similar to Quai Chang Cain from Kung Fu.

 

Marco: “So you’re Chang.”

 

(A pause)

 

Man: “Chang Mongolian is my brother, he no longer lives here. I run the grill for him.  My name is Wang Fao.”

 

Marco: “Ah…well, uh, I don’t mean to pry, but ah, why am I here? I mean if you wanted  to invite me to a damn tea party, you coulda just had Chef Boyardee down there  fry up some canolis.”

 

Wang Fao: “You are the son of Antonio Biagino. I see much promise in an alliance  between us. I have much respect for your family. I trust the feeling is mutual.”

 

Marco (in chinese accent): “Yeah yeah, Mee love you long time, but me want go home now.”

 

He heads toward the door. A guard fires a shot over his head. He stops, and stares for a moment.

 

Wang Fao: “I would like you to do a job for me.”

 

Marco (still with accent): “Everything you want.”

 

Wang Fao: “There is a car outside. Take it to north street. An associate is waiting for it.”

 

Playable portion:

You step outside, and have to get into a black luxury car, and drive it to the other side of the map. As soon as you get in, an FBI car pulls out behind you, and the chase begins. Your wanted level is increased to five stars. To finish the mission, you must get the car to the man at the other side of the map, and allow him to take the car. He hands you $2000 for your trouble.

I like. What kind of luxury car are we talking about here? I have a Brabus S V12 in the works right now (if you didn't know, it's a tuned Mercedes with about 640bhp, so it's classy and damned fast too), or are you talking about a limo-type car?

 

Will Chang-its himself make an appearance?
